After getting cleaned up post-painting, we went to Cracker Barrel for lunch. In a little bit, I’ll haul the knitted and crocheted stuff downstairs and run them thru a rinse cycle and a fluff dry. With luck, that will remove most of the cat and dog hair. Then I’ll pack them up for transport to AARP for distribution.
Tomorrow morning, I’ll get paint on the primed walls, and with luck, all it will take is one coat. Then I’ll make deviled eggs to take to my mom’s on Sunday, clean the critters’ fountain, and do laundry. Good times!
I’ve got the sprinkler going, which pretty much guarantees a deluge later today.
Mulch is done.
He needs to spray the grass coming up through the sidewalk but no sense in doing that until after it rains. Whatever the ground cover is that is growing out front is really taking over the yard. It’s kind of pretty, has tiny yellow flowers, and doesn’t grow very tall. As far as I’m concerned it’s better than grass. If it wasn’t for the grass and dandelions the front yard wouldn’t need to be mowed.
Some of my wild flowers are finally coming up, one is blooming. I don’t know what it is, but it’s pretty. It’s something that didn’t come up last year.
We closed to windows and turn the AC back on since it’s gotten so humid out.
I’m thinking about ordering pizza for dinner.
blurf. Called in sick which I am sort of. The knees. I got shots in both on Wed and have two more for the next two Wed. Takes a few days or more to work. One is worse than the other and I should have stayed home Wed and yesterday to ice them but tried to soldier on. Today left knee said hell no. So i have iced them in between changing the sheets, doing laundry, cooking and cleaning.
Just now ready to nap and read “All the President’s Men” to refresh my memory to that sordid affair. I was 12 then so I don’t remember too much. Since there is so much in the news these days referencing it I want to get caught up. Politics intrigues me.
Good news! I finally received my eval for 9/2015-8/2016 so almost a year late but I got my raise and a nice bonus. Almost worth the wait. Boss promised the one due end of this August will not be late. We shall see.
Happy weekend TGIF.
Neighbor using a leaf blower can finish up anytime now. Since I quit smoking noise irritates me more. Weird.
Hubby came back from his business trip. Kids have finished school. Huzzah!
We’re having a weird storm come through. They’re calling it “late season”, but I’m not sure what season they think it’s late from - winter? Anyway, rain, snow in places, wind. I don’t mind. I’m not a fan of hot. Summer will get here soon enough.
I just contacted the travel agent website handling our cruise and they rebooked us at a lower rate PLUS we got $100 credit to our cabin, so we’ve now got $150 credit awaiting us plus I figure we’ve saved $400-500 from the original booking I did some months back. Yay for saving $$$!
I just pulled the load of lap robes and small afghans out of the dryer - boy, was the lint trap fulffy! Hats and scarves are in the dryer right now, and when they’re done, I’ll fold everything, bag it, and load it into the car.
sunny the raise was not retro thus the bonus was to make up for the tardiness. Aint right but tis what it is. Will be interesting to see what monetary gift I will get in two momth for this past year. I’m betting nada. Boss did say this was last year…at least he is aware. I am happy for now anyway. Got a headstart on my chores but did not do my knees any favors. They are pretty swollen. We have been having rainy weather which the ortho assured me it does affect my condition. Sucks getting old.
At 8:30 this morning, I asked my boss if it was too early to start drinking. I think he took that as a cue that I really should knock off early today.
I grocery shopped. When I started up the car to pop out for a burger, the check engine light came on. I checked the oil and coolent. The coolent was realllllly low, so I added some and called Toyota. It looks like I’ll be skipping creek cleanup tomorrow to get the car in the shop.
A Mo Burger deeLuxe was supper. The rest of the evening is chill and go to bed early, since I’ll have to be up earlier than I roll out for irk.
I must confess that I don’t know what ‘shake a snake’ is. It ain’t sumpin’ we have out here in the wild, wild west.
We had a bigly lunch too. We drove down to Salem (sorta) to the hyundai dealer there to buy floor mats for the new santa fe. They didn’t have any! At the hyundai dealer!
But we remembered that there was a hometown buffet near by there and went to eat.
It was pretty darn good.
I was gonna make chili verde for dinner, but now it’ll just be ad lib.
Sorry about your knees Butters. Wifey had her right knee done a couple years ago and will probably get the left done this year. She needs to, but she’s stubborn. (understatement).
Mom, cruising is sounding more and more like fun. We may have to try it sometime.
I got a survey and cash begging letter today, from the Republican National Committee. The survey questions were as you might expect, terrible slanted. I’ve had fun filling it out, giving the opposite answers to what they want. At the end, in the “Additional Comments” space, I wrote “Im a Democrat you idiots! Why did you send me this survey?”
My orthopedist said there is no cure for my knees except replacement. These shots do work and,for me, last well over their 6 month projected life span. I got a year out of each set so will continue to live with it for as long as possible. Just reading about replacements scare me.
I never had any problems with my knees at all till a couple years ago when we did a marathon car trip through all of Georgia and Florida and I mean all, in a fairly short period of time. When we got home one knee was badly swollen and sore. I thought I had DVT from all that sitting but MRI showed arthritis. Had my normally very responsive insurance company responded sooner it wouldn’t have got this bad. I blame them and the Dr too. The entire series costs $3000 for the six shots. Redonkulous.
Remember my circus MMP a few weeks ago? I got to [del]see[/del] drive by the circus which is in [del]town[/del] county tonight. Lemme tell ya, a one-ring big top circus has nothing on the media circus outside the courthouse where Albert is on trial!
What a colossal clusterf*** that thing is!
Driving up the road, I saw that (volunteer) Firehouse A had the annual carnival in the backyard, & firetwucks from two neighboring companies on their apron. When there is a planned event, it is not uncommon for a firehouse to go out of service & get a neighboring FD to cover for them. Between duties like parking, possibly ticket sales, & maybe food sales, they’d be stretched thing to cover a fire if one came in; therefore, the neighboring FD’s twucks didn’t seem abnormal. One of the firetwucks was from Firehouse D. Continuing 8 miles up the road, I passed (volunteer) Firehouse D, where they were having their carnival this week, & had a neighboring FD company’s twucks on their apron. So D needed reinforcements because they were both busy & reinforcing A?
I’m pretty sure this is shake a snake. My daughter used to work in one near her university.
As for cruising, it really is a heck of a way to vacation. All you have to do is show up. They feed you, they clean up after you, they entertain you, and if you’re like us and don’t gamble or drink, you pretty much don’t have any more expenses. Well, except for trips in port if you sign up for them. Otherwise, you explore on your own.
Anyway, I highly recommend cruising as a vacation. And if you hit good enough deals, you can get by for under $100 per person per day, not counting tips (which aren’t yet mandatory, but the crew does rely on getting them.) The three cruises on our bucket list are the Panama Canal (either partial or full transit), Alaska, and (this is a dream) Antarctica, or at a minimum, Cape Horn. The first two are easily doable, the third, well, very $$$$ when you add in airfare to and from South America.
We got some nice rain overnight, and I’m up way too early, but that’s the way it goes, isn’t it? Today’s plans include a coat of paint in the shed, making deviled eggs, cleaning the critter fountain, and doing a couple loads of laundry. There should also be ditch mowage, but I’m pretty sure that ain’t gonna happen.
