I’m a huge Sox fan, but this whole reason to root against the Rockies is, IMO, pointless. The article was full of mistakes and bad assumptions; the Rockies management can do what they please. I like it when people stick up for their beliefs, whether I agree with them or not.
Thing is, people of faith often flock to athletics. Fellowship of Christian Athletes, groups like that. I don’t think we have evidence to say that the CR management forced out non-Christian athletes. I also don’t agree that the only objection one could have to porn is religiously based. Some folks find it distasteful and inappropriate in public… I’m not necessarily one of those people, but, meh. I would never have a problem with an employer or a group of employees stating that it’s not welcome in the workplace.
A lot of teams and organizations have a groupthink mentality. All of the players might date models, or have beers at a certain bar… again, unless the organization discriminates against players who choose not to do those things, what’s the problem? And it seems evident that some players would find the CR environment more appealing, and some would be turned off by it.
Oh yeah: Go Sox! I don’t need an exciting series. I’d be happy with a four-game pummeling. Even Gagne looked good tonight!
