Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ prior to purtification for re-entry into the workforce. I feel so grown up!
'Tis cold! 23 Amurrkin outside right now. This is cold enough for the pool filter to kick on. I do not want it to run all day so I will manually turn it off at eight o’clock if’n it has not kicked off by then.
Ok, need more caffiene and I have to decide which of my many lovely outfits to wear today. The dress code is pretty much don’t wear jeans and don’t look ratty. I can do that.
Morning all, up and caffeinating, and getting ready to join Swampy on the way to work today! BTW, good luck on your first day on the new job, Swampy!
I’ve also brekkied, so my tummy is full. Today is a somewhat blurry day; I’m going to have to make sure that I put eye drops in -on schedule- today. I’m hoping that my eye is just tired,
Happy Hump day and Rosie’s .sig for all. Oh yes, Dotty, I hope you’re out there - Noor is getting so big!! Give HRH a big hug for me, please!!
All purtified and dressed to go join the grown ups. I don’t have to be there until 8:30 and it takes all of 10 minutes to get there if I go slow. Plus need to let twuck warm up a bit. It’s cold!
Last night, I came to the realization that I have money to cover moving IF I can tap my 401(K). I hope “client needs money to move household 200 miles or go on unemployment” is good enough to qualify for a hardship withdrawal.
There was a line of well diggers out my door this morning that wanted to warm their asses by my woodburner.
4 words - Pork Festival Tipton Indiana. They do this sandwich that’s a tender slice of pork tenderloin. They then batter and deep-fry it. On a bun with some horseradish sauce and cheese it is ----------- words can’t describe how good. The one bar across from the motel and courthouse will give you $50 bucks off your first bypass surgery if you can eat 10 of them in an hour.
OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!111 The world is comin’ to an end! We gots snow flurries! Well, we had snow flurries. Right now it’s just cloudy out but the temp is 34 Amurrkin, so it could get right on that edge of rain/snow when it starts to precipitate which it will do.
I was at the COA (Council On Aging) when it started. People freaked. I was entertained. Now I’m home from my first day. Remember I’m just part-time for now. I went on a home visit and fielded calls re Medicaid Part D stuff. I feel good about how things went. Thanks for all the good lucks and well wishes. Y’all are the bestest!
Red beans and rice with a green sallit for dindin. I even have a buttermilk custard pie bakin’ away cause I want pie. Slow cookers are a wunnerful thing! Da cave smelled so good when I walked in this afternoon.
Hope everyone’s havin’ a good or at least tolerable day.
Swampy, so glad to hear that your day went well! And bonus, you got to be entertained by your new co-workers freaking out over the snow!! BTW, you sound like you have a great job - and there are certainly many who need help with sorting thru medicare and other complicated issues that the elderly face today. More power to you, Swampy! (Said as one who will face that issue herself in just a few more years …)
Tomorrow I’m going to fix beef-mushroom-barley stew in the crock pot, so hopefully my apt. will smell very aromatic (in a good way!) when I get home tomorrow evening. I think I might even bake some christmas cookies this weekend.
This is so mundane, but I’ve got to share. I got a new monitor a few weeks ago - it’s a wide-screen and helps with me being able to see and read what’s on my computer; I still need enlarged text to be able to read even after the cataract surgery. Anyways, somehow this morning I accidentally shrunk the size of the screen as it appears on the monitor. I say accidentally because I was just waving my hand by the bottom right of the screen and whoopsie, it shrunk in on both sides!! I called the help desk, but they couldn’t fix it, well not remotely, someone would have to come. So, while I was waiting for someone to come down, I tried fixing it myself and lo and behold, I was able to fix it! Let me tell you, that was a revelation, at least for me.
At any rate, now I’m getting ready to go home. Woo hoo!
Yay, Herbs! It makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, doesn’t it?
I’m glad you had a good first day, Swampus! SNOW! OMG!
Y’all are going to be proud of me. Lately, at work, the guys in my department have been going to the gym at lunch. One by one, more of them have been joining. Today, I went to the gym and worked out, and signed up. Go me! I got on the elliptical, and the treadmill, and did an ab-cruncher thingie, and the arm squeezie thingie, and the leg lift thingie.
This place has a pool, too, and a sauna! It’s at LA Fitness, and I’m good for all locations in Texas. It’s pretty cheap, too! And I can quit anytime. Which I’m not going to do.
They had no issues with leaving AMA. What he said would be illegal is** transferring to a hospital of our choice**. He had no problems if we were willing to transfer to another hospital in that corporation. (Never mind that the first location he offered was not a STEMI center and doesn’t do angioplasty.)
I think as long as the move is more than 50 miles, the IRS will allow it. Just be prepared for the tax penalty.
I’m betting you went with the powder blue polyester sans-a-belt slacks, the yellow and green striped polo, white belt, brown loafers with green and grey argyle socks, and a jaunty tweed jacket. Am I right??
None too exciting day, which is good. I’m buying two end tables and a coffee table from a coworker - $150 for the lot. He’s a single guy who lives alone, so no abuse by kids on the tables, and he said they’re cherry wood. The pics look pretty good, so I’m going to swap vehicles with **FCD **tomorrow. He doesn’t know this yet. He will.
Poke teriyaki for supper, with carrots and I’m thinking smashed N.O.T. with mushroom gravy. Yep, I think that’ll do it.
Culinary Boy is making bean soup for dindin tonight. There will also be cornbread and some kind of greens–I think turnip. It’s Southern Cold Weather Food. The lows tonight are going to be in the teens, so I think that qualifies us for Cold Weather Food.
**StG **- I did see your post - sorry I neglected to comment. Daughter’s house hunt is put on hold for a while - we’ve worked out a plan with her to wipe out some debt and build up a downpayment. In any case, I did look at the places in the site - unfortunately, few are in our area right now. I’ll bookmark it for when the search resumes.
Supper is just about ready and daughter is on her way home. Which is good - I’s hongree!
All the crocheting I’ve done will be undone. I tried to maintain consistent tension, but the variation among the squares is too great to make it work. I’ll uncrochet them into something else.
Since I haven’t seen a response from swampy, I’m guessing I was spot on with his wardrobe choices today. He’s probably out having a photo taken to show me.
I found filet mignon on sale for (I think) $9.99/lb recently so tonight’s dinner is going to be filet, baked potatoes with sour cream, and roasted fart blossoms brussels sprouts. It should be good.
Glad the first day went well, swampy! And yay for snow. I love the snow.
Good for you for signing up at the gym, rebo!
Yay on fixing the monitor, herbs. It’s nice not to be reliant on the IT folks all the time.
The stress is slowly letting up. I finally quit fretting about moving and the lack of answers I’ve been getting, and sent a long and detailed question list to the HR head at the office I’m going to. She answered a minor one directly in my favor; one that was particularly galling because it was so minor. The other big ones are still in progress.
Mrs. Fred is still in the horsepistol, and is sleeping constantly. Fred is beside himself because he doesn’t understand stuff.Tonight, I took him back to see her, and I had him instruct the nurse to put a note in her file for the doctor to call me. I can talk to the doc nearly on his/her level, and I’ll translate for Fred tomorrow. Hopefully something will get done after this.
Da Hut (blech) made dindin tonight. VWife wanted it, so I indulged.
ETA: The people at Da Hut really mangled my last name on the ticket, in a manner new to me. One advantage of moving to Moooooomland is there are Amish in the county, so my typically Amish last name will be known in the area and won’t be mangled.
MOOOOOOM please! One never wears one’s best outfit on the first day! One slowly builds up to that. Sheesh!
Herbs I am inchin’ my way to SS land also. I think this is why what I’m doin’ appeals to me.
Dindin was teh num! Red beans and rice on a cold cold day. Tomorrow will be beast stew. Everything’s already to stick in the slow cooker tomorrow mornin’. In case y’all haven’t figured it out, I am waaaaaay fond of my slow cooker.
Spaz greens and cornbread. YUM!
Went to a very nice Evening Prayer/Advent service at the church house.
Now Ima go lie upon the bed and watch teevee for a while. I’s beginnin’ to get sleepfied.
