I understand full intention of causing great damage, I’ve been taking Krav Maga for a couple of years now and they teach that no-quarter type action. I also know how very hard it is to break a femur.
So even if you’re wearing Doc Marten steel toe boots you must have some very special kind of power to break a femur at such a close range. So let’s even forget close range. Even if you took a flying kick at it, it would be incredibly hard to break the largest bone in the human body with your foot. So color me impressed that you have that kind of power going on inside of you that you were able to do that.
You should look into volunteering to teach other women in your area. Creepy men in your town wouldn’t stand a chance, would they?
No, actually, I was hoping that folks would rage on the harasser, I wasn’t looking for hugs. Silly me, though - of course in any discussion of sexual harassment it’s the victim’s fault.
So, your post - attack the victim. Now you’re stating I’m a worse creeper than the asshole who harassed me. Do you mugging victims of being muggers themselves? How about rape victims - they’re sexual criminals, too, right? Although I’m still trying to figure out what PALATR means. I learned to read English, not Acronym way back.
I know why some people discount the stories of victims - it makes them feel so much safer and happier to live in a world where bad things don’t happen.
Bwuh? I’m not sure what this “goofy TMI history” is, but alright, maybe I share more than some people are comfortable with. Ah, the joy of internet anonymity. Personally, I enjoy the wacky-but-true personal stories people post here, but whatever.
Nonetheless, saying well, she tells wild tales otherwise about other things, so even though this seems plausible, well, we can’t trust her. But maybe, because this is plausible we can make an exception and believe her this time is, in fact, saying I am a liar. Which is bullshit. Both the assertion I am a liar and your bullshit ass-backward way of saying it without saying it.
I used to have that kind of power, I know very well I don’t anymore because I just don’t have the time to exercise hours a day every day to achieve and maintain that level of power. And yeah, I was wearing steel toe boots at the time. And pumped full of adrenaline on top of that, in full-on fight-or-flight mode.
Frankly, I was rather surprised to hear later his leg was broken. At the time I knew I hurt him bad, that whole lying on the ground in agony thing, but I left in a hurry. Gee, I dunno, maybe there was something fucked-up about his skeleton, it’s not like I knew the guy’s medical history. I knew his name, sure, he went to the same school I did, used the same bus stop. He hobbled around for some time in a rather extensive cast - I always assumed that I damaged the bone, not that I completely snapped it, but it’s not like the piece of shit was going to show me his x-rays, you know? And it’s not like at the time I was eager to advertise I had hurt someone else that badly, no more than he was eager to advertise that a girl fucked up his leg. Actually, he pretty much stayed the fuck away from me after that, which was just fine by me, and I didn’t feel like pursuing him to inquire about the details of his injury.
If he had knifed me from behind or shot me in the head I would have been shit out of luck. Or, hell, just punched me hard enough in the back of the head, which worked quite well for the person who a year before had been paid to beat me up - I was so dazed from that first blow I couldn’t fight effectively. Surprise and/or a distance weapon and you’re still hosed. Or just being outnumbered. Being physically strong isn’t going to work every time.
That’s why I laugh at men who claim they’d go down fighting and die before being ass-raped - get a bunch of guys on you and no, you won’t be able to fight, buddy. Or just another man sufficiently bigger/stronger to overpower another man.
How do you know they are true, other than your own?
Oh, I see. You’re a mind reader. Again, I refer you to the post where I said… ah screw it. If you missed it the first 5 times, you won’t get it now, either.
Weird is not the same as liar. BobDucca referred to some suspect posts of yours, but I don’t know which ones they are. I’ve only noticed the gross stupid ones. Although, yeah, accidentally breaking somebody’s femur does sound far-fetched, now that it’s been pointed out.
It wasn’t accidental. Well, OK, the final target was a result from him moving, but it was certainly my intention to cause him bodily harm
This wasn’t some weird-ass compound fracture with his leg twisted into a pretzel. I don’t know the exact nature of the injury, but I don’t think he was wearing that elaborate a cast for that long for shits and giggles. As this happened long before HIPAA, “kid’s got a busted thigh bone” made the rounds rather rapidly.
By the way - your link doesn’t work for me.
Anyhow, I get it, at least for some people (which statement isn’t directed at you, personally) - discrediting the victim means the incident didn’t happen. If you can’t dissect and nitpick the story as given, dredge up something in the victim’s background to discredit her/him. Unless the person is an utterly error-free saint anything and everything they say can be dismissed and whatever it was can be completely discounted and dismissed.
As for the whacky tales - yes, I doubt some of them, but reality is some really weird shit sometimes. I’m probably more inclined to believe people than not, unless there is something really obviously off base, and at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter much either way to me.
Still, oddly enough, store security took me seriously - someone came by twice yesterday asking if Mr. Creeper had returned and urging me to report him if he did show up again for anything other than strictly business dealing. They have his name and description. Fortunately, there is no sign of Mr. Creeper.
It’s official, you’re full of shit. It takes about 1700 lbs of force to break a femur.
And, Don’t forget women. It’s not only the creepy pervs who you have to treat as potential rapists out there. But sometime there’s the Mr.Nice Guy rapists, you know the type who makes it past your spidey sense defense, go out on a date with him charming and funny. Go back to your place for coffee and he turns into a gorilla and brutally rapes you. So act accordingly and treat all men as potential rapists because you know we all have it in us. Enjoy living life that way.
This right here. I have been reading this trainwreck unable to look away and feeling completely guilty for not being in the Kittie Huggles {{{{Broomstick}}}} Club.
That little nugget washed my guilt away like several hot showers.
Except that’s exactly what happened after you posted your OP. People were piling on THE HARRASSER and you got hysterical and started attacking people that were originally on your side.
This is the problem. We can’t help but attack the victim because you are ALWAYS THE VICTIM.
As I said before, I’m not doubting this story, and it may have very well happened exactly as written. It may have even been worse (though this I doubt). I’m just pointing out why people may be reacting negatively to you due to your history here.
For reference, here are a couple of recentposts of yours that don’t pass the “real world” test. And these are from one single fairly recent thread.
Neither of those sound all that unrealistic to me.
I would hardly vouch for the truthfulness of anything I read on the SDMB, but I don’t find it hard to believe that Broomstick’s husband has a disability, or that people would assume he couldn’t perform sexually.
And as far as I can tell, she is reporting that the rumor was that she had broken her earlier assailant’s thighbone - not that she had seen his medical record. It is not necessary to break the femur to disable someone’s leg rather spectacularly.
Try something. There is a point on the inner thigh, about a third of the way up from the knee. Simple thumb pressure in the right spot produces a good deal of pain. A well placed kick with a hard toed shoe (or the bottom of the heel, which is how I taught the kick) can drop your assailant to the ground with a paralyzed leg, and it tends to be even more painful than a nut shot. Maybe that is where Broomstick caught him, and it hit the rumor mill as a broken thigh.
I hope so. Sexual harassment and assault deserve nothing less, even if it is just a creepozoid like she describes.
Really? You think it’s realistic that several different strangers have walked up to Broomstick, who’s husband is disabled but not in a wheelchair, and said:
why did you marry someone who can’t have sex? Are you gay? Are you really married?
when are you going to get rid of him and get you a man who can give you babies?
you’re not too young to divorce him a get a real man
These are from one post. When you combine these interactions w/ the interactions she reports happening to her in other threads (including this one) - it’s hard not to notice a pattern.
In my lifetime, I’ve heard some people ask some seriously out of line things of complete strangers, so no, I don’t find her accounting of the situation all that unbelievable.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to attribute malice when stupidity is a far more likely explanation for these folks, but I’ve seen equally as bad stuff as she’s described. I imagine those folks are infected with the speak before you think disease, that’s all. They’re blurting out the first thing that pops into their head, unlike the rest of us semi decent folks.
They don’t sound unrealistic at all. In fact, what they sound like are actually just plain old sexual harassment of Broomstick. You know, the reason men tend not to believe stories like this is because they think that, if this shit happened so often to every woman, they’d see it. Of course, it doesn’t work that way. A creep is going to pick a situation where he’s not going to be witnessed, if possible. One of the reasons is that another man might just kick his ass. A disabled man would be just as good as no one around, and might possibly be even better, in a way.
I suppose my different background makes it easier or harder for me to believe things. In this case, my background is that I have two children, both adopted, both of different races than me. And I have had strangers make all kinds of rude remarks about it, including speculation on my sex life or lack thereof. Albeit stupid, these remarks were not malicious. People say all kinds of stupid shit, especially when confronted by something out of the ordinary, like a white parent with Asian children, or a non-elderly couple in which one partner is disabled.
Couple that with the unfortunate tendency of people to treat those with disabilities as if they were mentally retarded and deaf, no matter what the disability. So when I went out to lunch with my colleague who used a wheelchair, and the waitress looked at me and asked “Do you know what he wants for lunch?” without asking him. And he was by no means retarded. He was actually a nationally-ranked bridge player as well as an engineer.
So No, I guess I don’t find the posts you mention particularly unlikely.
I grant you that I haven’t looked very hard, but Broomstick has never come up on my radar as prone to whoppers. And there aren’t many glaring discrepancies to her account that would tend to discredit her.
But like I say, I haven’t looked that hard, or care that much.
So there are no actual threads in which she told crazy stories, or at very least you can’t find any. But her credibility is totally questionable, in a thread in which she describes being treated in a way that is unacceptable but (grotesquely) obviously not all that uncommon for women.
I sincerely don’t get this post at all. If her credibility is questionable, why aren’t there any examples of it? Or, well, is this nothing more than a baseless attempt to call someone’s report of a man’s completely unacceptable behavior into question?
Obviously there aren’t any ACTUAL examples of her nuttiness. So now I’m left to wonder what kind of asshole would say something like this for no reason.
Which is how I wound up breaking his femur instead of nailing his groin. In this case it was still effective at disabling him, but only because I hit with literal bone-breaking force.
This is AWESOME.
I never called her a liar. I said that I understood why people might doubt pretty much anything she says in light of her goofy TMI posting history. I figure that she probably was harassed-- it’s hardly an extraordinary claim, after all. That’s why I said I “figure she probably was harassed” five posts before you called me dirt for calling her a liar, which, to restate for the slow-witted (that’s you, curlcoat), I never did.
Reading really is fundamental.
You need to understand something here: you had a confrontation with curlcoat. A rational observer of this confrontation would conclude that curlcoat is saner than you. You are, in fact, clearly nuttier than curlcoat.
Consider that fact.

Holy fuck are you ever gross. News flash: it’s not news to anyone that a seemingly nice, decent guy might actually be a rapist. And it really fucking sucks that women have to live their lives that way.
Neither of those sound all that unrealistic to me.
No, because there’s nothing even vaguely unrealistic about them. No idea what that nutcase’s deal is.
Really? You think it’s realistic that several different strangers have walked up to Broomstick, who’s husband is disabled but not in a wheelchair, and said:
Yes, it’s obviously realistic, it’s the sort of shit people say all the time, nutcase.
This is actually really informative. It’s casting a lot of light on the attitudes of the people who are trying to claim that what Broomstick is describing couldn’t have happened.
I know dumbass, I was being sarcastic in context of claims here that women must treat all pervs as potential rapists, logic shouldn’t stop there was my point. but whatever sugar tits, go make me a sammich.
I don’t have any difficulty whatsoever in believing that Broomstick heard exactly these statements, exactly as reported. In fact, I’m mildly astonished that you think that these are patently unbelievable.
Three people, actually. They ambushed her in a parking lot and tried to lay a world of heart on her with bats and tire chains, but she got the jump on them and went back to harassing Nick Nolte’s family.
