I Resolve To Start The New Year MMP

Howdy Y’all! Got edibles all ready (well, except pigs in a blanket need to be baked) for tonight’s carryin’s on. I went and did all the things this mornin’ and even managed to get in some sloth time and nappage.

Bummed I am about Betty White.

And now this…

< AHEM > CLEARIN’ THROAT < AHEM >

HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY DDDEEEAAARRR CCCUUUPPPCCCAAAKKKEEESSS!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

Well, fine then, I’ll just talk to myself!

We’re takin’ a potty break before watchin’ Hairspray cause, well, what else does one watch on NYE. We’ve been munchin’, laughin’, dishin’ dirt, and in general bein’ silly. I do enjoy lollin’ about on the sofa whilst sippin’ a Martini with a blue cheese stuffed olive. Martini… the drink with a snack!

OK, time to get back to merriment!

Aw, thank you swampy.

Evening all. Finally found a time when there was seating available at the Cheesecake Factory and used my gift card (and some cash–the food is great but the prices are not cheap). So I have a very full belly and maybe a Pepsi and some crackers later tonight should be all I need.

If I didn’t do it earlier, Happy Birthday cupcakes

BBBoo, bad news for roomie…hope she can find something quickly.

Glad your home same and (mostly) sound, FCM.

Hope the test is negative, VanGo; would be a lousy way to start 2022.

Nut, enjoy!

Cookie, looking at the weather map and doesn’t look like rain, so hope cat can wear earphones…

Ok, full belly is grouchy, so may lay down for awhile. If I don’t get back, Happy New Year everybody.

Walked to get my hair cut, then to a couple stores for needed items. Today was melty, but it’s starting to freeze again, so I had an interesting time getting around. Some guy yelled at me from his pickup, “Walk on the damn sidewalk!” I WAS on the sidewalk. You couldn’t see it, but it was there under the snow. It’s the Not-So-Nice-Capades starring Slip-Sliding Nellie and the Slush Puppies. OK, no puppies, and I could have used some, if they were huskies.

My daughter texted me that her husband’s cousin killed herself. She was gay, and her immediate family was not supportive, to say the least. I don’t understand how people can turn against their own children.

I’ll miss knowing Betty White was around. I was looking forward to her 100th birthday in a few weeks. I shall toast her tonight. I got a mini bottle of champagne and will toast her in my aunt’s gold confetti champagne glass.

Boo! (Not our Boo.) I protest! Inslee’s usually pretty sensible. I don’t know what got into his noggin. I don’t mind a few fireworks right at midnight. Then they need to knock it off.

Oh, great. I think the people downstairs are having a party. sigh It’s already getting loud down there.

Moooooom, glad you’re home safe and sound. Aren’t you nice to detail your daughter’s car for her!

swampy, sounds like a fun evening! If there’s silliness, we expect photos. And 100% agree on martinis with bleu cheese stuffed olives. I love that you’re watching Hairspray!

VanGo, fingers crossed you test negative. Is your sister OK? And sounds like you’re wise to wise to stay home.

Boo, roomie is lucky to have such a kind, comforting landlady. (Landperson??) I bet you’re the Queen of Disney movies these days. So much fun!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CUPCAKE!!!

Tomorrow will be eggs benedict for breakfast and then a cheese fondue for dinner. Might as well start the new year off right. I think we’ve finally made the decision to sell the house this coming year and move out to where we have some relatives, so we will seriously start clearing shit out in January.

Happy New Year’s Eve, everyone! :champagne: :confetti_ball:

Welcome home, Mooooooooom!

I think I just ate too much for dinner. I don’t quite feel sick, but I don’t feel…great. My eyes were bigger than my pouch. :frowning: I guess it’s good to know that the surgery worked, though: some people report being able to eat as much as they want right away, which would be kind of disastrous for me.

In other food-related news, I made my first chaffles for lunch today: I used shredded colby jack, and they were so yummy! I can’t imagine making anything else with eggs, so my brand new egg bite maker is likely to remain unused. Unfortunately I threw its box away already, but all of the other original packaging is intact…I wonder if I might be able to give it away to someone local via my bariatric center’s FB page.

This morning I finished drafting a set list for my jazz festival show! And my band is confirmed! Woo hoo! Unfortunately, though, there’s a big omicron surge in D.C. right now and I believe it will get worse in a week or two. Live music is slowing down again, and my vocal workshop has been cancelled for January. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the mid-February jazz festival will still go ahead… :crossed_fingers:

I wish I could say the same about my neighborhood: the fireworks started at 7pm (about 40 minutes ago) and I imagine they won’t stop until around 12:30am.

Dang! :frowning:

Well, right now I’m watching season 5 of Castle. I couldn’t get into it when it aired, but a few weeks ago I decided to give it another try (via Hulu) and got hooked.

Supervisor: “That’s all three Next Day Air, go home.”
The chaos Gods, 15min later: "***SURPRISE TRUCK ***
Between that and having to scan out all the stuff that’s going out on Monday to places that have been closed, it was a long day.

I love all the Firefly references they put in.

: crosses appropriate and inappropriate appendges for BBBoo roommie :

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CUPCAKES!

I hope that your test comes back negative VanGo (after a restful weekend, of course).

Count me as another who will miss having Betty White in the world.

The neighbor’s fireworks have begun. Nelson is curled up in my lap. They’re not as bad as the month of July, but they’re there.

Happy new year everyone!

Just about finished off the prime rib for dinner. We’re going down to the beach to light flares for the Ring of Fire and Hope. Wifey bought a couple of flares. She was disappointed to find out they only burn 20 minutes.

Happy Birthday Cupcakes.

Today was my anniversary. Would have been 38 years. It’s just another day now.

Packing continues as does swollen ankle and house hunting. I went ahead and drugged BuddyBoy as the fireworks are in full glory. Plus, the cat is inside.

Happy New Year Everyone. Let’s hope it’s better than the last two.

My mom’s car. Daughter can clean up after her own damn self!:yum:

I’m in my own bed. Bliss!! I expect to be asleep very shortly. It’s raining and it’s a soothing sound. 'night! -zzzzzzzzzz-

We went down to the beach for the Ring of Fire and Hope and lit our flares. First time in the snow. I should have brought my hiking stick, but I didn’t fall over. We drove down the beach to where there were more people, saw fireworks (mortars) and lamp balloons, and then came home.

 :champagne: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :champagne:

By my clock, it’s 20:20. Mrs. L.A. just went to bed. I’ll probably go to bed soon too. This cold and snow just sort of saps the energy out of me.

Happy birthday cupcakes! You aren’t getting older, you are getting better!!! Of course, once you hit your prime, it all goes downhill so quickly you start feeling proud and confused that you managed to last another year.

Today was drizzly and rainy and now it’s cold and muddy. Hopefully there won’t be fireworks but I’m not really worrying about illegal bottle rockets landing on our roof tonight. I’m hoping it’s too cold for the idiot gun shooters. There’s an hour left and I don’t think I’m going to make it.

Hubs spent a large part of his life as an Autobody Damage Technician. AKA a bodyman or as I called him “A gorilla with a hammer.” He would always correct me because he was a gorilla with a whole bunch of hammers.

He heard me going through my stuff tubs and asked what I was looking for, so I complained about the lack of beeding needles. He laughed about his hammers and my needles cause he understands it isn’t the number, it’s the variety that’s important.

It hasn’t gotten over 50F today and the yard flock have torn up the suet cake I put out two days ago. I put another cake in the fridge so I can take it out tomorrow.

VBC hasn’t left the house today but GG likes it cold and wet. I put a trail of towels leading from the kitty door to the kitchen so hopefully he’ll stop tracking all over the place. He is pretty cute when he comes in with all of his furs fluffed.

Boo please remind your roommate that she needs to apply for unemployment now because the waiting period doesn’t start until the application has been completed. This is an online process in my state, hopefully it is in hers as well.

As an ex-food stamp worker I will also suggest that she file for food stamps and medical as well. Be sure to write a letter for her explaining that she is responsible for paying X number of dollars for rent and a smaller X for utilities. Guestimate the amounts, the utility expense does make a difference for food stamps out here.

And its 11:20 here and I am not going to make it. Happy New Year everyone. Many wishes that 2022 treats us a little nicer.

Happy New Year! My dad used to say that what you were doing at midnight foretold what the new year would bring. (He always gave us kids pennies so we’d have a prosperous year.) If he was right, I’m apparently going to spend 2022 on a battlefield. The fireworks are horrendous and nonstop and include those big ones that rattle windows. I hear dogs whining.

I thought i’d be happy to see 2021 end because it was the year my Someone Very Dear died. Then it occurred to me that it was also the last year he was alive.

Sorry. Let me try this again. Happy New Year, Dear Mumpers! May 2022 bring you peace, prosperity, and more happiness than your hearts can hold.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 84 and maybe somewhat N.O.S. this afternoon. We shall see. We made it until ten last night, so I say we had a good run at attemptin’ to stay up. Everyone else is still abed so I am bein’ quiet (well, for me) so as not to disturb. Beastloaf, black-eyed peas, collard greens, rice, mac ‘n cheese, rice, and cornbread shall comprise NYD feast. There will also be peach cobbler and ice cream. YUM! We shall also nosh on leftover munchies and toast the New Year with mimosas. Should be a nice day. The fireworks were not too bad last night. We pretty much were not hearin’ 'em by bedtime.

VanGo appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for a negative result.

Boo that sucks about your roommate losin’ her job. Here’s hopin’ sump’n better comes along soonest.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I shall get myself presentable and commence with the makin’ of the feast and so forth.

HAPPY NEW YEAR Y’ALL!!!

What a joy it is to sleep in one’s own bed an awake sans backache!! I’m pretty sure I was unconscious before 10 and I didn’t wake till 5:30-ish. Best sleep in some time, so yay! It was raining last night and this isn’t a big fireworks area anyway - I didn’t hear a thing all evening.

I’ve tended to the critters and I’m caffeinating. FCD is still sleeping, and I’m pretty sure he wants to have breakfast out - guess I won’t be feeding my face for a bit. Speaking of which, I was afraid to step on the scale this morning, but it wasn’t nearly as horrific as I’d feared. I have allowed about 20# to creep back in the last 4 months or so, but new year, new routine, right? Well that’s the plan - healthier cooking and less delivery, plus more activity. Tobias will certainly be responsible for part of that.

And the new year begins with a new property assessment - the county finally figured the shop building into our taxes - no big surprise there. I would love to get a market value assessment, but we have no intention of selling so I don’t want to waste a realtor’s time, and I certainly don’t want to pay someone to do it. Guess I’ll never know…

Today’s plans: first, a trek to the boat to get the info FCD wants - he’s trying to figure out how to network all the communication, navigation, and safety electronics together. They’re all Raymarine products and they’re designed to work together, but the previous owner didn’t mess with that. While he’s recuperating, my sweetie hopes to integrate everything in the pilothouse and link it all to the flying bridge (does that sound yacht-y or what??? ) It appears the main problem is figuring the age of all the electronics and determining how to make them work together. I understand the concept, but I don’t care enough to learnt he details…

Once we get back, I’ve got a metric buttload of laundry to get done - well, 3 loads anyway. Then tomorrow, I’m getting out of here fairly early to return Mom’s Mazda5, and retrieve my Sonata. That’s at least 5 hours of driving today and almost as much tomorrow. blech. So tired of interstates!!!

Then Moanday is Right Knee Day, assuming COVID doesn’t bloom so badly in this county that they cancel him. Fingers crossed!

Happy Sunday, Happy New Year, and here’s hoping 2022 treats us less horribly than its recent predecessors!
