Is that how Vandals get around?
Nah, they just drive their vans (or walk around in sandals)
Nah, we wear the yak pelts, but we ride Segways, now. Horses are sooo 5th century.
Umm… Leaving out any comments about yak pelts ;), I’m looking forward to seeing you tomorrow, Genseric.
You too, Ringo, and all the rest.
But I’m most unhappy with Lightnin’, Sapphy, and CRorex for not coming; so is my dau. Are you suuuuuuuuuuuuuure you can’t find the time, CR? You can ride up with BlueBear and myself. pleading tone
Tapi, I am so sorry to hear about your mishap, glad you got a new toothie. Still want/need a ride? Give me a holler on ICQ or the phone.
And not only is my sweet daughter coming along, but so will my son, luminousman. Now if only Mr Bear wasn’t almost on the east coast again… (He was in Houston early this morning.) pout
See, now I know what’s going to happen. On the way down to Austin, there’s going to be trouble on the highway, and I’ll end up having to push a dead yak off the road, and I will smell like fetid yak pelts.
Man, I shoulda known this whole “yak pelt” thing was going to blow up in my face.
[sub]In case anyone hasn’t noticed, yes, I do find myself too, too amusing.[/sub]
mmmmbl…, huh? WHAT!!! Ahhh!
Time to watch Ringo play let’s-beat-the-traffic!
An outdoor table it is!
Reviewing the thread, it looks like we have 11 confirmations and maybes.
Latest news: the Puplehoard are running late. We’ll be there around 2:15
blink yawn
The purrplehoard just got home. Well, those of us that live in SA, at any rate. Had a great time, y’all; even if the out-of-towners almost outnumbered the Austinites.
Off to bed now, tell you more tomorrow.
Just rolled in to the old homestead, myself.
Three cheers for a successful (cosmopolitan) BatDope.
Hip-hip-hurray!
Hip-hip-hurray!
I’m also proud to note that no one in attendance, myself included, smelled of fetid pelts of any livestock, yak or otherwise.
You only had two hip-hips there, my friend, so just to finish it off
Hip-Hip Hurray!
I had a great time yesturday guys, and it was a pleasure meeting both Genseric in person and Blue Bear as well. Purplebear, any problems with the van on the way home?
Sorry we bailed around 6:00, but I still had some preparations for what turned out to be a very long night (I finally rolled into work at 4:15 a.m., told them I was going to sleep on the couch and to wake me when it was time). Did you guys get around to seeing the bats this time around? If not, we’ll have to make that a focus of the next BatDope…you know, just to make it official and all.
I’ll add one in too:
Hip-Hip Hurray!
Yes, indeed, Genseric, I am most pleased that you smelled just fine to me. Er, wait… that didn’t sound right. That you did not smell of fetid yak pelts or other critters. Hmm… Perhaps I’ll just hush now on that.
Thank you, Elvis, I’ll let her know whenever she finally shows her face this morning. hee… Too bad you missed meeting luminousman. I guess we got back there just after you’d left. And no, thanks for asking, the Green Monster behaved herself all the way home. Only a couple of near misses too, which is to be expected these days. And to help pass the time since BlueBear was busy chatting on her cell phone, I called Lord Jim and gave him the rundown on the Batdopefest while I drove home. He was very sorry he missed it.
Actually no, we ended up not seeing the bats this time either, which was a shame. I got the feeling that I was the only one really interested in doing that this time, so I didn’t push. So, yes, I think we should make definite plans to go see them the next time; it is a pretty awesome sight.
Well, I’ll post my thoughts on the Batdope soon, since we didn’t have an official scribe this time. <Where were Irishman and Balance when you need them? ;)> But, please feel free to jump in with any comments, all who were there. After all, I am most curious to find out what the conversation at the other end of the table was about, since I heard Ringo say ‘Secret Agent’ quite clearly at one point.
I am pretty sure I caught a whiff of zebra from one of the waiters, though.
I wanted to see the bats too, but I forgot about them.
I’m trying to remember Ringo saying ‘Secret Agent’, but I’m coming up blank. It’s hard to remember four hours of conversation. We mostly just talked about you people(looking furtively at the rest of the board members).
It was good to see everyone. Purrplebear brought along her namesake bear, and Scotticher’s bear since she couldn’t make it. They were the center of attention. Literally, because they spent the meal right in the middle of the table. I gave Scotti’s bear a pat on the head, since it wasn’t quite a huggable size.
I know nothing of zecret agents.
I dropped by around 3:30, realized I didn’t know what any of you looked like, and then annoyed the hostess by explaining I was looking for a group of people but I didn’t know how many of them there were or what any of them looked like. She invited me to wander around and have a look which I did briefly but frankly the place scared me a bit so I didn’t stick around.
So instead I went to the Lake Austin Mangia and read books.

GAH!!! These past few days deleted almost a week worth of posts. DAMNIT!!!
So, just to reiterrate my last point: sorry we missed you Hazel-rah, it was a bit of afterthought that we realized no one had set up the standard for all those who hadn’t made a BatDope before and given out the tactics for how to handle finding the table of people that look like they just don’t belong together (there are actually a lot of these in restaraunts, not just our groups).
Just so everyone knows (and I think this should be said in every future post about a BatDope), whenever we have a BatDope, the first people there will set up a table for ADAMS. That way, if you show up late, just ask where the ADAMS FAMILY is situated, and we’ll be there. So, there you have it. We should have done that in this post, but oh well, live and learn, right? But we’ll remember next time, Gadget…next time.
I don’t know why I didn’t post beforehand and ask. It really didn’t even cross my mind until I walked through the door and saw how big the place was, and full to boot. I was expecting something more… hutlike. I should have known anything on the lake would be a big production.
