I was in Labor(Day) for 24 hours! - A Relaxing MMP

This afternoon’s agenda includes wrangling the cats for a veterinarian appointment. That will probably be more stressful than seeing the cardiologist.

I’ve got a chicken pot pie in the oven. I shall eat, before work.

J and WB both were going off at the supervisors for all the idiots dumping stuff on us. Also, HOW ON THE NAME OF CTHULHU’S RIGHTMOST TENTACLE DO YOU LOSE A MASERATI BUMPER?

Yay!

Charles III, following some farcical aquatic ceremony.

Sorry for the family drama, Cookie. But glad you could help.

SVT won’t necessarily kill you but it may weaken your heart says the woman who had a cardiac ablation for SVT last month.

Other than world hstory happening not much going on today

watching the BBC eulogies for the queen a relative walked by and wondered why they were playing America the beautiful for the queen…

Evening all!

I’ve been dropping in and occasionally reading, but life’s been getting more’n usually silly and busy lately, so not been posting. Yays, hugs (lots of them, by the sound of it), trouts and- hey, why not- pointy stick wielding spiders, to be taken as required.

In summary, since I last posted: masters course finished (subject to final grade), and am currently sofa surfing back at my old landlord’s in Bristol, having been booted out of student accommodation on the grounds of no longer being a student. I do have a lodging situation arranged in Scotland, but not for a few weeks, and I need to be in England for stuff like graduation (subject to final grade) and registering at my new university, which is actually in England even though I’ll be actually based in Scotland.

I’m visiting my bro and babby niece in London tomorrow- and keeping all my digits crossed that everything will still be functional and it won’t cross someone’s mind to start cancelling public transport ‘as a mark of respect’- then clearing off to the Greek island of Rhodes next week, on the grounds that if I’m going to be basically homeless for a bit, I’d rather do it somewhere nice and warm where I can lounge on the beach and snorkle with fishies and things.

Congrats, nut on the masters (subject to final grade).

wheelz Yay for the good doc visit!

doggio I read that as Cthulhu’s rightmost testicle, and was wondering how many does he have? And how does one lose a bumper?

shoe Good on you fer eatin’.

I’m hoping for a day with no rain, so’s I can finally do the install of these french door shelf thingies I’ve built. It’s been raining for the last three days. I really don’t want to transport in the rain, and I’ve been to the site and the ground will be mud. Looking like tomorrow is promising. Want post install pics?

Tobias has been returned to his mom, laundry is done and stowed, supper has been ingested and dishes are washing. FIL has been pretty good today - no hallucinations, which is excellent.

I’m about to assume the chillage position. Tomorrow first thing, I need to build the lasagna for supper, and I’ll make the chicken-grape-pecan salad. Then, dunno. But that’s tomorrow. Chillage tonight.

It’s 106 in my neighborhood, so dinner will be a to-go burrito as picked up by my work-from-home husband. Because of ongoing power outages, he has left the car on the driveway so it won’t be trapped inside the garage by a non-working electric garage door. I bet that car is going to be hotter than a broiler when he gets in.

Last night commuting traffic near home was a mess because signals were out due to a power outage. I hope it won’t be tonight. Nextdoor is blowing up with people bitching about the heat, the power outages, and the politicians they blame.

Cooler weather starts tomorrow, say the meteorologists.

110 here, and DH arrived feeling a bit ill from overheating. Two popsicles later and some recovery time in AC, he’s now in the shower, hopefully cooler than his usual.

Pizza is not a good dinner option, as high as his blood sugar was running. Probably burrito bar, then, and I’ll encourage him to go heavy on the fillings.

And now the power’s out all over my home town. Mr. brown is out driving in the hot mess and will look elsewhere for a burrito.

Interesting. I thought I remembered that’s what you had, but wasn’t sure.
Doc mentioned some “procedures” that could stop it from happening if it becomes too frequent, but I guess I’m not at that point yet.

How are you doing now?

The ablation was successful. My resting HR is on the higher end of normal but the tachy is not able to start. It’s been 4 weeks and blissful not to have to worry about it.

Congrats on the weight loss metal mouse!

Count me as another happy Chewy customer flyboy.

bright tree, I love dachshunds too. A lot of Nelson’s dog park buddies are doxies or doxie mixes. I thought that he might have that as part of his ancestry, but when the DNA came back, we found out that his length could be attributed to a corgi grandparent.

Yay for skool completion nut!

Got shot this morning and pretty much laid around the apartment for the rest of the day. Damn ragweed!

I heard water dripping under my lavatory when brushing my teeth this morning, so put in a call to maintenance. Rico came over and found that the overflow plumbing needed a bit of silicone. After he left, Nelson kept barking his fool head off. I finally got him to chill by cuddling him in my lap, where he still is. Spoiled brat! I know that he misses his usual time outside, but the outdoors hates me right now, so he’s limited to potty breaks three times a day for a bit.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Hi, all! Resting at home after getting the new bivalent Covid vaccine and the high dose geezer flu vaccine. Actually the arm with the flu is more sore than the Covid shot. Sore as in I’m aware something poked me there but nothing hurts.

Stopped at Dollar Tree for a few needed supplies. Boy! Never again! One cashier for the whole store, the check stand belt didn’t work, shelves are only half stocked and a god-awful mess throughout the whole store. Quality has gone down (far fewer recognizable brands) and a gift bag you used to get 2/$1.00 is now 1/$1.25. Nope, I’ll just go to Target~at least the shelves are stocked, things are somewhat straightened and there are cashiers. I”m sure Dollar General and Family Dollar are the same.

Now get off my lawn!

Howdy Y’all! We got our brains swiped. After that, we went for a ride in the country just cause. We had not done that for a long time, so it was kinda nice to wander down some back roads for a little while. Then we went to the hog trough Golden Corral for N.O.L. After that it was back to da cave for nappage and general sloth. ‘Tis rainin’ now and looks like it will likely rain the rest of the day and all day tomorrow. I hope it’s not rainin’ when I have to go to the doc tomorrow. My appointment is at eight-thirty in the a. of m.

Nuts congarats on the grajooayshun.

Wheelie glad the doc told you that you ain’t dyin’ on us yet.

Sad news about Queen Elizabeth II. Should I show up at Buckingham Palace with a plate of deviled aigs, or is that not done over there?

Assuming the brain swabs came back negative?

I have a medical appointment tomorrow myself. Echocardiogram scheduled, plus I need to leave some blood with the lab vampires. Next week, I’m talking to the cardiologist (he’ll need the results on the echo, plus the rest of the time I’m on the event monitor).

We’d have to ask our resident UK types, but I don’t think they do deviled eggs on that side of the pond.

Plus, that’s a posh family, you’d want to bring a crawfish and cheese casserole at least!

Yes, sad news. That lady was a class act and I know she will be missed by many.

Very Bad Cat lived up to her name when we had to put her in the carrier and said many bad words the entire drive. When we got to the exam room, she wanted out of the carrier but as soon as the vet tech came in, she went back into her carrier and glued herself to the back end. After a prolonged battle, we managed to dislodge her from the carrier so she peed on the vet tech to show her displeasure.

The vet thought she looked and sounded good despite her weight and drew blood. We’ll get the results in a few days.

GG had a HORRIBLE day because his mommycat was gone and one of his hoomans was missing and his little kitty world was all upside down.

Tonight I made a ham, asparagus and cheese quiche. It wasn’t one of my best, the asparagus had a surprising amount of liquid, so the cheese and aggs split. That’s fine, now we can nuke leftovers tomorrow so my camel cheese won’t risk being interrupted.

It has cooled off a bit here, its down to 85F which is nice. Our interwebs have been spotty because they found an issue at the tower that involved taking things offline and replacing parts and stuff. Waves quickly at everyone before getting booted offline again.

85 would be lovely. Here it’s 109 at 7pm. Air quality is projected to get bad soon, with the Mosquito Fire about 64 miles away. Ugh.

I hadn’t realized it was that close to you. I’ve already been concerned about the heat and your health, but wildfires that close can mess up the air something horrible. We’ve gotten into the habit of changing our AC filters once a month because of the itty bitty ash particles that float around during and after fires.

I’m glad your DH seems to be feeling better, but do keep an eye on him. Once ones core temp goes up, it takes a long time to get down again.

Is he close to an ice chest or fridge when he takes his breaks? If so, get him a couple of bottles of carbonated/sparkling waters. Pouring a cold bottle of that over a hot body has amazing effects, very refreshing.
