I was in Labor(Day) for 24 hours! - A Relaxing MMP

Remember, I had three negative tests while symptomatic, first positive test was 4 days after DH’s. I’m inclined to agree with you.

It’s 6:40am and 75 degrees, which I consider a perfectly reasonable HIGH for the day, not a reasonable LOW. Projected high today is 115, which happens to be the same as Death Valley’s predicted high. Ugh ugh ugh.

Cats are being stinkers, and I have to stay up until Instacart gets here. Probably going back to bed once groceries arrive.

This is a very good reason to haul a cat to the vet. You know your critter’s little quirks - keep us posted.

Today could be a good day for drivers in Ocala - FIL has an eye Dr appt this afternoon. If the stars align, the doc will tell him he can’t drive any longer. :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers: I suggested FCD forewarn the doctor, but he doesn’t want to do that - HIPAA and all that. I guess I’m mean, because I’d get a note to the doc as a courtesy. After all, the doc drives in Ocala, too.

Just got the Tobester down for his nap. He was all over the basement for a couple of hours, so he should crash for a decent amount of time, as long as that idiot Higgs doesn’t start barking.

The load of sheets is done and folded, and my shorts and t-shirts are in the dryer - I’ll fetch them shortly. Then I’ll have lunch. Then, who knows.

I can’t even imagine… You have my sympathies. Have a popsicle!

Nah, HIPAA prevents the doctor from revealing information to a third party without the patient’s consent. It does not work the other way ‘round. FCD is free to say whatever he wants.

I did three loads of laundry yesterday, and now towels are sloshing away. We’re not supposed to run the washer until after 8:00 a.m, which would seriously throw off FCM’s game. I have a few small projects to get done and need to call about the contact lens, then will head to the gym. It’s sunny here, with a predicted high in the low eighties. I am SOOOO ready for summer to be over.

On today’s episode of Solved Mysteries, I figured out the strange bird call I’ve been hearing at night for months now. It sounds like a soprano owl asking a question: Whoooooo? Last night each call was accompanied by snoring. Yep, it’s my downstairs neighbor. D’oh! :woman_facepalming:

I hear that guy can really clean out your sinuses. You Whisky-palians sure lead a wild life.

Butters: So cool! I’d love to see something like that.

FCM, holy cow, babies and older folks! You’ve got both ends of the spectrum! I’m tired just thinking about it. Hope all goes smoothly. And I’m with Wheelz: FCD should talk to the doc, as it’s no violation of HIPAA and would be helping his folks. Or is the issue that he doesn’t want to go behind their backs?

JtC: my, that piece is gorgeous! Hope the kitteh is OK.

Dicey, now you’re posting in my time zone! Hope you’re having a wonderful time.

shady, good luck with the housing issue.

wordy, I hope overlygirl doesn’t have Covid, but you’re wise to keep her home anyway, since she’s been running a fever. As a teacher, I hated it when kids came in sick, as they inevitably spread the crud to other kids, who then missed school, or to me.

There was a fatal crash on the 5 this morning. Two semis and two ‘vehicles’, one of which was a full-sized pick-up. I heard one of the semi drivers was killed, and that one of the vehicle drivers was arrested for vehicular homicide. So I had to take the 405 around Seattle to get to Burien.

An independent field agent for USAA just came to the office to look at my Prius. You’ll recall that I believe it’s worth more than the settlement they gave me. When one of USAA’s ads/posts showed up on Facebook a while back, I posted how disappointed I was/am. So they opened an investigation. The field agent doesn’t know if he can get me any more money, but he’s going to try. He said it’s ‘cleaner’ than most 2005 Priuses. (I’m very glad I spent a couple of hours waxing it ono Saturday.)

First of the month, inbox is starting to bulge, and today is going to be a ‘short’ day because I have been/will be driving instead of working. I always get more work done when I work from home.

Happy birthday, solost.

Breakfast was edamame followed by a quinoa tortilla with local aged cheddar, tomatoes and basil from the garden, and a generous dab of gochujang (Korean fermented red pepper paste, not too spicy but nicely warming). I have dried tofu cubes soaking in a box of Trader Joe’s miso ginger broth for lunch, and there’s talk of a cold shrimp and grapefruit salad with cukes from the garden for dinner.

Today is supposed to get hot so I plan to continue working on clearing the gutters, then starting on cutting back the ferns and St. John’s Wort if I’m able. I’ve already done a couple of “inside” tasks, like trying to locate a drywall repair person and roping my PCP into coordinating a COVID booster (I get injections in my thigh, not arm, so a trip to CVS would mean both dropping trou and getting an injection from someone who isn’t accustomed to using the leg, which in the past has resulted in nasty welting and pain). There is much to do around and in the house, but we’ve set aside time this afternoon to figure out some 2023 travel as we have had 3 vacation attempts canceled (or we had to cancel them) so far due to poor corporate COVID practices (“Good news! We will no longer require proof of vaccination or masks and won’t test children under 11!”) and countries like Japan not being ready to admit foreigners. I managed all right, though at a higher expense for hotels rather than hostels, on the Camino de Santiago last spring, so we hope we’ll be okay on the ground in Portugal next year.

Giant Monster Cat asserts his right to be fed now.

Me walking into work these days:

The SSLAWs kept going down, yellow belt kept stopping, and the Windows update crashed the 200 slide printers. I got paid to stand around a bit.
Alex Catt fear people. She does believe she is a small Egyptian god.

Good luck on the Prius, Flyboy.

Hope overlygirl feels bettr soon.

Enjoy the vacation, Dicey!

Off to feed pizza to the unwashed masses.

Thanks everyone for the nice words, the designer is very talented and the instructions are nice and clear. I am the one who thought I could cut corners, hence my irritation.

VBC has a vet appointment for Thursday. Today she got up and acted all normal and stuff but she’s a cat and cats are super sneaky when they are sick. She’s going to have to work pretty hard to overcome my worries enough to cancel the appointment. /watches sleeping cat intently/

Even if she doesn’t have the plague, the flu season has started and is predicted to be a nasty one. She just might be ahead of the pack, so best to keep her home until the fever is totally gone. Good luck to you, I remember being a bored teen…I wasn’t much fun when I was cranky.

Good that they are feeling well  How’s the power situation? Bullhead City has been without power and water due to a big wind storm which is really bad considering how hot that place usually is.

Many years ago, I bought my dad a wall clock that had bird calls on the hour. Surprisingly, that cheap battery operated clock has lasted almost 20 years and is still ticking and chirping. Needless to say, nobody in the house notices it until the batteries run down and it stops chirping at night.

A few months ago, Mom had to have a plumber in and he heard the clock chirp while he was in the crawlspace and became convinced that Mom had a bird trapped somewhere in her attic. It was almost a week before they figured out that it was the long forgotten wall clock faithfully chirping the hours away.

May I ask why? Just because I’m nosy, not because I have any problems getting jabbed in my arm.

The new boosters haven’t arrived out this way but neither have the flu shots. I understand they will come available in 10 days or so.

Cats have never forgotten being worshipped as gods!

I can’t see the side of the yard where the bike barn is, so I kinda ignore it. A few days ago I looked back there and saw all the overgrown weeds. Last night I went out to deal with them but kept finding hummingbird moth caterpillars chomping on the weeds so my plans went away. I’ll wait a week for them to finish growing and cocoon themselves before taking their food away.

All the little projects are done. I called good ol’ Melissa and–whoa!–actually got through to her! No VM! She said the company sent her an email on Friday saying they’re still working on it. She said she’d call them today to try to pin them down.

And I forgot to mention something cool that happened when my daughter was here. Saturday evening, we were sipping watermelon cocktails on the balcony when I said to her, “I just wish the hummers had shown up for y–” and at that instant, a hummingbird flew up to us! It didn’t even go to the fuchsia; it just chirped at her a few times while it hovered. After five seconds, it flew off. I swear it came up just to say hello to her.

I need to get a flu shot. Also the new COVID booster. I want to space them out a bit, as the last COVID booster gave me flu-like symptoms.

JtC, glad VBC has a vet appointment. Is she good about getting in the carrier, or is that a stupid question, considering she is, after all, a cat? And the birdcall clock story gave me a chuckle AND made me feel less foolish.

Haven’t had power issues yet, but SMUD’s latest communique to customers says it’s still possible. Annoyingly, their map shows me in two sections, so it looks like if they get that far down the list, I’d get hit twice, which they claim is not supposed to happen.

Current forecast thinks we’ll peak at 117. Currently 110, at around 2:30pm.

Daughter had meetings till late so I fed the grands. Tobias fed himself rice. There’s a pic on FB. What a mess! But Higgs helped clean up. Hoping they’re reclaimed soon. I have lots to do before bedtime.

Send chocolate!!!

Stay cool seanette!

That’s a beautiful sampler JtC! I hope that VBC’s being weird is just a byproduct of being a cat.

shady, I hope that you don’t have to relocate, but it would likely be wise to begin looking.

Moooooom, you have my sympathies being in the middle fo the generation of the family sandwich.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson and et. Oy!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

@JaneDoe42, I get injections in my thighs because I had bilateral mastectomy, which puts me at not insignificant risk of lymphedema/cellulitis, and even moreso on the side where I got radiation. It’s only an issue when I can’t go to a medical lab for my shots. I’ve heard from my PCP’s group and they’ll let me go to the lab in a few weeks even if they’re understaffed since Rite Aid frowns on undressing in the aisles.

And a good late afternoon to all. Checked the Field status before dressing for soccer, and they had closed them due to impending storms. 10 minutes later the storms arrived and it is still thundering out there, so no soccer tonight. Did make it to the gym this afternoon so won’t feel too guilty on missing out on chasing the kids. Also got some nappage in as a bonus. Mac-n-Cheese is on the agenda in about an hour.

Suzie, my Walgreens has a little private room next to the pharmacy for shots, surprised RiteAid doesn’t.

FCM, Higgs is going to be so disappointed when the grands get old enough to not drop food all the time…

nellie, may be me, but I think you did mention the hummingbird before. Can’t be bothered to go check and it’s a great story well worth telling more than once, if that’s the case.

Oh, and on solved mysteries, I remember one of my cruise roomies describing my snores as a ‘chainsaw in agony’. That’s OK, he sounded like a humpback whale in a mating frenzy…

Flyboy, hope you can get at least something more out of USAA.

talkie, best to Overly girl, you did right in keeping her at home.

OK, I lied, not waiting for an hour, starting the Mac-n-Cheese now. All y’all take care, especially those caught in that heat wave out west.

Rite Aid might, but at my local they are unskilled at non-arm injection techniques.

My mother has one of those - not sure who gave it to her. I do so hate it!!! Tho I will admit, it’s pretty quiet, so if you’re not in the same room with it, you’ll never hear it. The previous owners of our house left one of those behind - it went to the thrift store.

I like quiet.

Speaking of which, the grands have gone home. Peace reigns! FCD is on the way. I need to vacuum, clean the kitchen, make the bed, and I’d like to make a cuke-onion salad, but I may leave that till tomorrow. The kids wore me out.

Dinner tomorrow will be provided by Chaptico Deli - their 10-piece fried chicken deal - it comes with 2 sides, and we’ll probably get a third. So no cooking for me tomorrow - yay!

I don’t know what it is, but with FCD gone, even tho I make myself real meals, I’m not eating all that much - in fact, come evening, I have to eat something to reach at least 1000 calories. Usually an apple suffices. I just hope when he returns, I don’t go back to my bad habits. The fried chicken tomorrow won’t help. but if I make the cuke-onion salad, that should keep me from eating too much of the unhealthy options. I’m determined to lose what I regained, and then some. I need to borrow some of the in-laws’ stubbornness.

OK, off to suck up cat hair, because, well, stoopit cats…

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered and put away even. Go Us! The biiiiiiiiiiiig trash can got hauled all the way back up to driveway to where it stays. Sup got cooked and et and the kitchen cleanded. We even had some quality cee-mint pond time. Received an email from the church that somebody in attendance last Sunday has tested positive for the plague. So, we have drive thru tests scheduled for Thursday at CVS, cause CVS is the pharmacy closest to us. We figured Thursday would be a good day as that will be around four days after exposure if ) and two boosters and will get the next booster when it is available. So far we have been a plague free household.

Suzie you could get the shot at :astonished:Wally*World :astonished:. You could drop trou in public there and probably not be the only one doin’ so. Someone could be moonin’ the deli while you’re gettin’ your shot.

Too true, but like the person sticking me to know how to do what I specifically need.
