If I Just Must, I'll Start The MMP

And FedYecchs does it again, flat-out lying about delivery attempts. Both of us were home and wide awake at the time of the alleged attempt. Nada. Good thing this isn’t DH’s insulin or something else time/temp sensitive (it’s a bag of dry cat food, and we’ve got plenty on hand, I just wanted to add to the reserves).

Vibrates at a very low frequency.

Good vibes to the FC house

I haven’t heard anything back about the puppy adoption, but they are a very small outfit, so, I’m not too surprised.

Had to install the living room AC. It was 90+ outside, and while the house usually stays pretty cool, it was over 80 inside. That’s uncalled for. I still need to venture upstairs to the bedroom to see if I need to put that one in too. Prolly should do that before the next adult beverage…

And the answer was yes. I needed to put in the upstairs AC. The tell the temp thingy said it was 89 in the bedroom. AC successfully installed, no droppage, and it is chugging merrily away.

Now–on to more adult beverages, and something for dinner.

Happy Hump Day!

Although not really happy.

I didn’t go to the armpit yesterday; I got caught up in too much stuff so we are heading down soon. I’m letting my son sleep a bit longer.
I also had to make the shrimp today that I didn’t get to yesterday. I’m waiting for it to cool so I can put it in the fridge.

I finally heard from my mother’s youngest brother. Nobody has been able to get in touch with him, but he says he’s always in the same place.

Anyway, Niece2 called and told me I need to get there today. Now my mother is in pain, and begging for morphine.
It’s going to be hard. I’m not planning on staying there, but I wonder if I should prepare.

Happy puppying VanGo

Happy vacationing Hippie.
I can assure you; nobody’s life is more boring than mine. I mean I’m going through some shit now, but it’s not of the good kind, so I guess worse than boring.
However, when a dog park is the highlight of your day, your life is sad.

I hate bushy tailed tree rats. They have chewed into my house three times.
I say, if I ever get a nice piece of property with no trees, I am going to stick a birdfeeder dead center, and watch those suckers try to outrun my dogs to the feeder.
My evil side wants to trap them and turn them loose in the middle of the dog park.
Ripple wants to catch one so bad.
There have been a couple of close calls at the park. Team Urban and Echo came very close.
Really, I wouldn’t want to see one get killed, but watching the dogs chase them would be fun.

BooFae, just an off question. Do you have any idea when royalty stopped locking up miscreants in the tower?

I’ll be joining you in the handbasket Swampy
I thought it was funny.

Very beautiful cards! Red

Hope the plumbing is fixed for real this time MetalMouse

Guess I need to get my son up and get heading down to the armpit.

forgot to hit send

i’m home

That clears up some confusion. Hope the trek wasn’t too awful.

The animal welfare folks have a foster for the kittens if I can catch them. I’m going to call Animal Control tomorrow and see if they can help - according the the welfare lady, they work together. I’d like this resolved before we head to FL.

Not going to think about it any longer. I’s tahred, so off to bed…

Route 70 is always awful.
Tonight it was truck games, at one point there were trucks in all three lanes, and they really slow down going up the hills.

I’m very tired, I woke up at 3, got up at 330, but I need to unwind a bit before going to bed.

Evening all, Garbage and recyclables are both out on the curb for Thorsday’s pickup, so that was enough work for one night. Dishes will be put away from the dishwasher tomorrow, no use overdoing it. Crossword is about 1/3 done, after this internettin’ I’ll head to bed and try to finish it before sleep comes upon me.

As you wish…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eab_beh07HU
And I hope she gets the job–with a raise in pay. I suspect she’ll be good at it.

Nettie, sorry hearing about your Fedex problems, sounds like they need to be checking on the driver assigned to your area; doubt that you are the only complaint.

VanGo, you’re better in heated conditions than I am; I keep the thermostat at 77F and it still can be too warm at times. Hope the AC makes things bearable.

Sari, got nothing to say except platitudes (like “hang in there”) and they don’t help a dang bit, but it’s all I got since I can’t send hugs over the internet.

Not boo fae, but a little goggling shows the last prisoners there were the Kray Brothers (think Al Capone) and the last one that royalty might have been involved with was Rudolph Hess. You can find a nice list at, where else, Wikipedia: List of prisoners of the Tower of London - Wikipedia

Ok, need to finish up my internettin’ and be off to crossword puzzle-land. All ya’ll take care.

(((sari))) Just be sure all the people and critters are fed and that you get some sleep. You can’t take care of them if you don’t take care of yourself.

(((shoe))) Cause I know how much job hunting sucks.

That’s not bad, considering how beautiful they are. But I’m fairly sure you have some time saving tips and tricks. I was pretty sure you had cutters and such, the edges didn’t show the slightly bumpy edge that scissors or razor knife would cause. And as long as we are discussing me giving your pic the ol’ eagle eye, what’s in the flat floss containers on the shelves? Threads or ribbons.

Cause if you have ribbons, do you have a stash of Ofray ribbons? I’m having a terrible time finding them out this way and I need them for my BFF’s piece.

Speaking of her, we didn’t have lunch because the produce truck broke down on the way out here. No produce means no reason to drive all the way into town to deliver it and then buy expensive fast food to eat in our cars. The parking lot crows probably missed us, they seem to recognize our cars and start hanging out and cawing until we start throwing food out of our windows. We know we shouldn’t feed them and we also know that fast food is about as good for them as it is for us, but we still do it.

GG went over the baby gate again today. It has been a while, bless his heart. Happily hubs had just gotten out of the shower and was on his way to sit on the bed and get dressed, so he was able to open the gate quickly. Sadly, hubs was not wearing steel toed engineer boots when poor panicked GG ran over his feet on his way out of the room.

For those who are not cat slaves, cats extend their claws when running to give themselves more traction, fragile hooman skin be damned.

FCM good look with your trapping. Back when I was doing it, I would put stinky canned food on a paper plate and set the trap on the gooshy fud so it smooshed up through the mesh. This helped force them to go inside to get the fud cause they couldn’t reach a paw in and claw a hunk out.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. There’s a Heat Advisory today, it’s gonna be brutal for Day and Twighlight shifts.

[Odball]Sending positive waves[/Oddball]

{{{{sari}}}}

They also extend them when falling off you lap, or almost jumping onto your lap(yeah, my legs look like I got in a drunken kung-fu fight with a Weedeater). :cat:

Sounds like my hands. Buddy gets a bit rowdy at times (we’re working on this). I’ve got a couple of gouges on one wrist that I hope won’t alarm medical types who see me in person.

Buddy has developed a major fondness for snoozing in the dryer. Fine by Allie, he’s not bugging her when he’s in there.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 90 with rain/tstorms/apocalypseM predicted for this afternoon and evenin’. Mowage shall be accomplished this mornin’. Major sloth shall ensue this afternoon. We shall swipe The General’s sup just cause.

MOOOOOOM good vibes and crossed appropriate/inappropriate appendages for FairyChatDaughter. If it pays enough it sounds like it would be a good gig for her.

sari it is a PITA to make the trip, but trust me, you will not regret makin’ them.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

A raise over the job she has now which was a substantial raise over what she made as a teacher. FCD and I did talk to her about it to make sure she wasn’t just chasing a bigger paycheck. I know from experience that’s not the smartest move. She has said in the past she wants to stay in education, but not in the classroom. The fact that at least 3 of the staff want her is encouraging. So we shall see…

One of my daughter’s cats seems to think she needs to grab hold of my leg when she lies half across my lap. Them little needle points are, um, unpleasant?? And dang painful!!

I wish I could attract the cats under our truck the way I attract others. They need to be captured before we head to FL if the rescue folks are to foster them. But when I peek in their general direction, they either climb into the engine compartment of the truck or flee into the thick mass of wisteria and trumpet vine. They, or something, is eating the kibbles I’ve been putting out. I just refilled the tray this morning. Anyway, a call to Animal Control is on today’s agenda.

Like much of the country, we’re going to get a whole bunch of hot. I’m doing my part to conserve power - I’ll be hanging my laundry out to dry. And I won’t be doing any baking till next week when it’s supposed to cool down a bit. Go me.

But for now, caffeination!

Happy Thursday!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s a balmy 19c/66f with a predicted high of 21c/70f which is much more tolerable for me. Weather app says “This is marathon weather. Except running fucking sucks”.

metalmouse glad to hear it looks like the leak has been fixed, I hope the dishwasher doesn’t start it all off again!

sari The Tower has been in use fairly recently  The last “state” prisoner to be held there was Rudolf Hess in May 1941. The last execution there was Josef Jakobs, a German spy, on 15th August 1941. The Kray Twins were also imprisoned there for a very short time in 1952 for attempting to dodge national service. The last ones sent to the tower by royalty would probably have been back in the 18th century. Miscreants were sent to the tower by royalty before we had a proper police force (1829) but by the end of the 18th century, the tower was used less as a prison and more as a secure storage facility.

Mooom sending good vibes for the Daughter!

Lovely short commute to work today, a couple of minutes across the landing!

I think I’ve mentioned that I look at FB marketplace just for the heck of it. Yesterday I saw a rental ad - to live aboard someone’s boat as a rental! What could possibly go wrong with that???

:open_mouth:

Having lived aboard boats - the answer is holy-crap-all-sorts-of-things!!!

Morning all. Heading for 95F and the Weather Wizards say a 1-in-4 chance of rain today. Will head over to the gym sometime today and get the stationary pedaling done, but except for paying the gas bill, nothing much else on the agenda.

OK, reports from above indicate that being a dog person and not a cat person is good for your health…

Have a good day, all.

I heard back from Animal Control - they’re trying to find a trap I can use. Apparently it’s a busy time of year for rounding up strays. The kittens won’t let me get close enough to snatch them up. I just saw Momcat under the truck when I went down to the mailbox, but she was gone when I came back. I don’t know if I spooked her or Higgs did, since she was on the other side of the fence from the truck.

Being kind to critters ain’t easy… :stuck_out_tongue: I think if I do manage to grab a couple of them, I’ll set up a kitteh room in the basement bathroom. It’s cool, it’s confined, and I can put a nightlight in there so it’s not completely pitch dark. We’ll see how that goes. Gotta figure out what to use for a littler tray - I’m sure I’ve got something that will work.

I took Tobias to play in the basement while I did a load of unders. In the blink of an eye, he went from playing happily to FEED-ME-AND-TUCK-ME-IN!!! He slurped down about 3oz before falling asleep. Hope he’ll stay down a couple of hours.

It’s ME time!

Back from squashage, expecting to hear back in 24-48hr. Phone appointment with nice psych person and an Instacart loom. I may go back to bed after that, since I’m running on less sleep than I really needed.

Happy Thorsday!

Muggy morning at the park, not a lot of activity, and even Ripple was stretched out on his side in a cool spot. For Ripple to lay down at the park, he has to be hot/tired. He is not that kind of dog.
Both of them were very happy to get home to the AC.
It’s supposed to be in the high 90s all this week, summer is here in full force.
Barky mom is gone for a week, so it will be peaceful.

Sorry about yesterday’s screw up. I got home, saw I forgot to hit send and said screw it, I’m not doing it over.

I’m glad I went and want to go back today, but my son’s job interferes with that.
I keep feeling I should go, so maybe he can call in sick again today.
I cannot believe how fast she is fading, the difference between Sunday and yesterday was shocking. She no longer looks like my mother. She is not allowed out of the bed (hospice orders), she is in pain, on oxygen and morphine, and pretty much out of it. She had a few lucid moments when she recognized me and my son.
Somebody brought out rails to install on the bed, and they can’t do it with her in the bed. Hospice said she could not even be taken out for him to install them.
I met the chaplain, and he seems really cool.
Hospice says she has 2-3 days.
Somebody is with her all the time because she gets scared when she is alone.
I should probably be there.

Ripple kept trying to crawl under her bed and I told her, I wasn’t sure if he was bothering her.
She told me he had been peeing under her bed all morning. lol
Echo wanted to get in bed with her, she kept walking around the bed crying.
Even the dogs know, I guess.

I don’t know if the truckers were playing games yesterday. They kept passing each other and blocking all the lanes. I’d get past one group and the next group was doing the same.
One truck was driving in the left lane, then he started straddling the center line and taking up both lanes.
I’m sure all their ears were ringing, I had several names for them, and none were nice.

On a funny? truck story though.
We’ve been having a lot of trucks going through town lately. I found out it’s because an exit is closed somewhere, so they are detouring through town.
One day I got behind one, and I thought wth is he doing over here? We’re talking residential city streets. For whatever reason, he decided to turn right onto a very narrow one-way street, and got stuck. His back wheels were on the right sidewalk, and his front wheels were on the left sidewalk.
He was awfully close to a lamp post and parked cars.
One of my park friends says it happens on his street sometimes. The police have to come out, knock on doors and get everybody to move their parked cars to make room for the truck.
I don’t know why, of all the streets he could have turned down, he chose that one.
I didn’t stick around to see what happened.

BooFae, I was thinking more along the lines of family members who prove to be an embarrassment.

I hope you are able to deal with all the kitties, FCM
Good luck to your daughter.

Adam has been called some choice names lately. He has a bad habit of coming in the back door, walking through the house, so he can be let out the front door.

I had to call the daycare to see about boarding the dogs for a few days. They are pretty much fully booked but they said under the circumstances they will do what they can for me. Barky mom offered to take them, but she is out of town. I don’t know, cause Barky is always in Echo’s face, but maybe it’d be different at the house.
It’s nice to have people who are willing to work with you though.

I haven’t irked so much as one hour this week. I need to do that.

Buddy has been known to do this. Yes, rude comments are made by the human. He doesn’t care.

If I’m not mistaken, in “normal” households one does not expect to hear the sentence “All right, who didn’t bury the stinky properly?”. Yes, this sentence was uttered over here today. Neither cat confessed.
