Possibly the greatest comedy record ever made, and I’ve heard lots of them. Still getting stuff out of it today, and I have the script.
It contains a joke that spans two records.
Bozos contains perhaps the first comedy about computer hacking, before hacking was even associated with computers especially. I remember the chill I got the first time I used a PDP-10 and saw “five jobs, two detached” on the console.
And it seems quite reasonable to ask, amigo. As we are moving into the 100 posts range it would seem that a point might be in order.
If my motive for starting the thread might help it is that I was wanting to “touch base” with some of the people I keep seeing in other threads who always seem to be attracted to the same subject matter and who seem to express themselves with the right blend of irony, disdain, dismissive attitudes and (for lack of a better word or phrase) awe at the absurdity of some of the people attempting to be “fighting ignorance” by introducing more than was here before.
That’s a long way to say “I was looking for company.”
I’m open to any serious topics that folks our age (range) might think worth discussing with folks our age.

If someone is keeping count of lo the many hours i spend online, they might not have a life either… Hellooooo… Zeldar the Great! wavey smilie
Ain’t it a fact! Every now and then the idea that the computer might crash, the power might go out, the board mght be down, or any number of dreaded events too wicked to name might come to pass, will burst into my consciousness and I have to ask myself, “what would you do?”
And there are plenty of times I just don’t have a good answer. I try to remember what I would do before the internet, hell, even before computers, and it all involves effort. Who has time for that? 
I guess I’m in. I’m 64, and I find the humor in:

I’m 73 and closing in on 74 in March if I live that long. I’m as good a nap taker as you’re likely to find. In fact, naps have sort of cut into SDMB time lately. If you’ll let me play I’ll do better.

Well, I just turned 59, is that close enough? I’m in the same year now that will see me turn 60.
As for a weird sense of humor, I run the Death Pool. And I like watching YouTube videos in which crazy people pop large pimples.
No better creds needed, Death Mistress! And the age thing is just a ballpark figure to indicate that most likely you won’t be expecting acne cures here. Of course, your interest might fit in if it’s presented with a certain detachment as if the zits weren’t really yours.

I’m of the opinion that this welcoming thread may be getting a bit fat. So maybe it’s time for some of y’all to start a new one with a bit more of a topic or an agenda (as harmonicamoon was hinting at). I’ve been hogging the posts in this one and I want to be more of a participant than an owner.
As a way to identify the new thread(s) as continuations of the Geezer Group, maybe one of the gang names you liked best could be in the title. If we only had the acronym worked out it wouild be simpler, but hey, we have some level of creativity, right?
If your new thread(s) can’t draw the right crowd, just come back here and link to the new one(s).
