Although there are many posters who it takes me a while to notice are “missing,” if I see a certain name, I have a short mental synopsis of who they are. Probably well over a hundred, easy.
Perhaps we could make a game of it?
Post if you want, and we’ll see what comes up.
Anyone is welcome to chime in with their own mental shorthand about the poster, but let it be more of a free association-don’t think too hard about accuracy.
**What Exit-**Mid forties give or take, exasperatingly polite, east coast, male, might like cats, but I stay out of those damn cat threads for the most part, real name Jim, poster name was determined by contest dealing with New Jersey, hated Quiddity Glomfuster, a little bit of a busybody, and I want to say possible ex military. Oh, baseball, too, but I never go in those threads, either. Oh, and lobbied forever for game room.
askeptic Not highly opinionated, unsure of sex- but probably female, and you had a post not too long ago that tied in with your user name, and I remember thinking “aha!” or “how ironic” but I can’t remember what it was about. Don’t remember ever seeing your pic. Typically pretty intelligent posts.
Tengu- I think you are one of our far flung dopers, but I might be influenced by the foreign sounding name. Unsure of sex. I want to say you contributed to recent pic thread, but there is no memory of hideousness, so you got that going for you.
So beyond, “Tengu is not hideous,” I got…nothing.
You know what, the more I do this, the more wrong I think I am. Hmm, I guess this thread is a monument to my imperfect memory. #$^*%!! I won’t allow myself to cheat by looking up posts, either.
I actually looked you up after I posted, and your sex was what my gut told me. Also, in my defense, you do a lot of comics/games threads, where I am rarely ever in those.
So your statement means that you are typically known for being your sex on MB’s, or that your sex is more blurred on MB’s? Unclear.
With Tengu, I can’t help it - I’m reminded of the Claymation penguin character Pingu. But seriously, what I think of in Tengu is a certain puckish sense of humor, an appreciation of what others post, and a common-sense approach to the occasional Doper controversy.
Even though a typically mild mannered poster, you are a quick thinker with a wicked sense of humor.
You’re big in Mafia, although I have yet to be a participant, or even read a thread. Someday (like next winter, when I am not so busy) I shall be led into the darkness of soul sucking, time wasting Mafia. I can’t wait.
Female, around my age, little younger, never seen a pic.
fisha - A poster on the SDMB. Recognizable name, probably says things sometimes. Don’t remember any unpleasantries. Probably late twenties or approaching middle age.
Those were all correct, though I am rarely in the cat threads. I have two cats and a dog.
I am sad to say that the only mental note I have on **fisha ** was that you used to be dasherferoo or something close to that. I think you are from the Twin Cites area and may have made some recommendations for when I briefly visited. Oh, you are female.
**Tengu ** is part of the comic book brigade I think.
**askeptic ** is often in the political debates. I think he is a lawyer.
What Exit is from Delaware. He is passionate about soccer, especially the stadiums which he spends much of his time touring. He works against environmental interests especially because he has a hard-on for George Bush. What Exit works for a Luddite advocacy group funded by the Amish. I tend to remember stuff bass ackwards so none of this may be correct.
Heh…I’ll admit to a certain curiosity about whether anyone here knows who the hell I am. I’ll throw my name into the pot.
The only poster in this thread with whom I’m immediately familiar so far is What Exit, an all-around nice guy who’s open with his opinions, conservative, a baseball fan, and who unfortunately seems to be clinically delusional as he retains his pleasant demeanor while residing in the state of New Jersey. (Just kiddin’, Jim. Sort of. ;))
It’s typically blurred. (It doesn’t help that I typically use a more feminine username, I guess.) It became something of a running joke on a couple boards.
I can live with that. Pingu’s cool. (Pardon the pun.)
I have a less clear, but, oddly enough, more specific, picture of Elendil’s Heir than EH has of me.
Tolkien geek. And despite not being one myself, I seem to remember that being the source of the username. A more general geek, as well, but the Tolkien stands out. I have a vague impression of EH being female, but I may be wrong on this point.
