I'm coming to NYC. Anyone wanna hang out?

I’ll be incommunicado as of tonight, circa 10 PM. I hope we can figure it out by then.

Worse comes to worst, I’ll go to an internet café.

Can’t wait to see you guys!

OK, lost track of the convo for a while–Jack’s is OK as long as it’s near the subway. I’ll bring my trusty map of Brooklyn.

Jack’s in Brooklyn it is, how about Sunday at 6 or 6:30 PM? I’ll have to leave around 8, though, to get my stuff together for the trip home (11 PM bus).

Biggirl, can you provide directions from the subway?

And of course anyone else who’s lurked in this thread is more than welcome to join us.

Yay! I get to see Biggirl again! Haven’t linked up since the NY MegaDopeFest in January, at Junior’s.

scott evil, I do suggest you take in a lunch or dinner at Indian Row on your own, though. It’s onlysix to eight bucks for a full meal and it’s a real NY thing to do. The East Village is a must-see.

I’ll see what I can do re: Indian. My social calendar for this trip is only now settling into some kind of order, and I can fit in seeing most of the people I want to see.

I’ll be venturing into the East Village possibly on Thursday afternoon (set aside for me to explore the city on my own), and possibly one evening to check out the gay bars.

I know this is late in the game, but I just want to suggest a pizza place I’ve been to before, if you find you’ve got an unbooked meal. I think the place was called Grimaldi’s, and it’s basically right under the Brooklyn Bridge on the Brooklyn side. I ate pizza there once and it was some of the best pizza I’ve had in the States.

Also, right by there was a big sign that said “CK Dexter Haven” if I remember corrrectly. Don’t know if it’s still there or if it has to do with the doper, but it was a weird thing to see.

Yeah, Eonwe, a lot of my meals are going to be cheap and fast. My food budget - aside from the planned Doper dinner - is rather small, but I don’t eat much anyway unless it’s put in front of me, in which case I eat a lot. But I’ve cut the number of shows I’m seeing from four to three, so I’ll have a bit more of a float.

So thanks for the Grimaldi’s suggestion - I’ll check it out if I can.

Yeah. It was really easy walking distance from the first 4/5 stop in Brooklyn, IIRC. And, it was pretty cheap (it is pizza after all!).

Also, for those who’d like to join us, scott_evil and I are trying the WICKED lotto at 6pm on Friday night…

But if neither of NWR or my names get picked and yours does, a mélée will definitely ensue.

We still need Biggirl to give directions to Jack’s on 5th in Brooklyn, and pick-up arrangement for Cosmopolitan if she can still make it.

I’ll check the boards and my email sometime tomorrow from an internet café.

Anyway, you guys are great. My social calendar is now full save for one afternoon and evening I’ve set aside for myself, and one getting-together thing that a certain “fishy” person and I haven’t quite decided on.

In seven hours, my bus will be leaving, and seven hours after that, we’ll be pulling into Port Authority. I’m stoked.

It’s Jack’s on 5th in Brooklyn, 6 PM Sunday. I just need the subway line & stop.

Jack’s is on 5th Ave between 13th and 14th Street.

Contrary to what I told Scott in an e-mail, the closest subway stop is Prospect Ave on the N or R. However, that train station is right at the Prospect Parkway exit. I think it’s better to get off at 9th Street and walk the extra 2 blocks.

Noted. Now, while I’ll be away from the internet, you guys have got to gather more people!

scott, this is a hijack, but seeing you post reminded me. How are the wedding plans coming? I remember two threads about it, but haven’t seen anything in quite a while.

OK, so 6 pm on Sunday, at Jack’s at 519 Fifth Ave., Brooklyn? Who’s coming? Is it OK if I bring a friend who has yet to meet Dopers or have reservations been made (or are they needed?)

The M, N, and R trains come closest, BTW, running on Fourth. Prospect Avenue and Fourth Avenue stops are about equidistant, it seems. You can change from practically any other line a few stops away in downtown, at the stop called either Atlantic Ave. or Pacific Street depending on where you’re coming from.

Sounds like fun. I think I still have my pin from the DopeFest in January.

Being a bad bad man, albeit a busy one (hey, I had job interviews) I have neglected to say that I’m probably available for many things this weekend, except Sunday.
Scott I sent you an email with my phone number in case you want some ex-pat Montrealer now living in NYC time on Friday or Saturday.

And if I don’t see anyone-- enjoy your stay!

I have internet access where I’m staying. (And a great Chinese takeout across the street.) Yay!

Jack’s - good to go, everything noted.

Barbarian, I’ll check my email now. I’m free Saturday afternoon.

I saw Naked Boys Singing tonight. I actually liked it, but I didn’t know quite where to look…

Hotties. It was just… OMG. I was in the second row.

The worst thing about being too close to the stage during most productions is being spit on by the actors and singers who are attempting to project their voice to the back of the theatre. One of the hazards of being in the 2nd row for Naked Boys Singing is…oh, never mind.

This thing is still happening, people.

Had a bit of a snag in my plans due to some erroneous bank balance conversion, but I’ll be there at Jack’s tomorrow.

So, assuming you can get a word in edgewise, everybody ask scott evil about his experience with a cab
