In Honor of Labor Day, the FAQ MMP

Torn. This place falls deeper and deeper into the world of clusterfart every day. Had managers in two days this weekend to fix some specific issues that were WORSE this morning than they were on Friday.

Gah, I need that other job to call so I can officially go into lame duck mode and quit needing to care!

Hello MMP! Seems to be a good place to be a newbie at the moment, so I’ll sneak in too

Been trying to get a load of work done at my alloment all week, due to now being unemployed and thinking I should probably take the opportunity to do somethin’, and every single time I go down there, regardless of how clear and beautiful the sky is when I arrive, the rain closes in after 5 minutes. I swear the clouds are fascinated by what I’m doing…
This morning it looks like the autumn’s closing in, so I didn’t even bother trying. I’m considering getting a nice cardboard box to hibernate in.

Rebo, swap you some heat for some cold wet?

If she was having male triplets, I’d say Moe, Larry, and Curley.

For fraternal twins of both sexes, Boris and Natasha. For that matter, a pair of boys: Rocky and Bullwinkle.

My boss is a Rocky, but he looks nothing like a flying squirrel.

I’d not had a chance to look yet but thanks to your repost and Janis’s link, now I’m set. We spent LD at some friend’s Galveston beach house overflowing with various chips and salsa so this would have been good.

Not much to report; the ocean was bizarrely flat because of the fierce tropical storm’s winds blowing from shore to sea. It was truly freaky… no waves at all.
Those same winds have played hell with the fires too. Magnolia just NW of me is on fire now, 8000 evacuated, and an even bigger one still just started in Bastrop.

Sunday night, with a bunch of kids running around the beach house patio, we looked over and saw a snake that had joined the party curled up against the house. Talking to Crotalus this morning we positively ID’d it as a juvie cottonmouth. So I guess if you don’t get blowed over, sunburned, fireburned, dehydrated or bit, this is a pretty nice place to be.

I wonder whut ol’ Rue is up to these daze?

If you have a bucket/drum, some rope, a tree branch and a round of #2 shot for your Mossberg you can easily reinvent one Hell of a shower. Done that once or twice.

Also not Romulus and Remus or Castor and Pollux. No.

Identical twins are usually girls, so we’re hopeful. Mostly right now I’m hoping that my next ultrasound shows they’re both okay. The number of things that can go wrong with twin pregnancies is scary.
Back from Costco, feeling ick, going to lounge for a few minutes before tackling the afternoon chores.

Back from class, and boy did I impress myself! I’ve rarely thrown more than 1 or 2 pounds of clay at a time - roughly enough to make a good coffee mug or a medium size bowl. but today, just for the heck of it, I cut off maybe a 5 or 6# chunk. I threw it and made a big vase-like creation which I proceeded to kill. Sometimes I don’t know when to quit. So I mushed it all together and re-wedged it (worked it to get all the air out) and went back to the wheel. And I actually threw a pot that was about 10 or 11" tall and 5-6" at the base. The instructor came over and checked it out - she said my wall thickness was good - yay me! I tend to get it too thin. She showed me a couple of other things and suggested I slow my wheel speed. So the first day ended well.

I also found out I don’t have to take the class for credit - I can switch to audit so I don’t have to do the report or the field trip or that other silliness, so yay! It’s no cheaper, but it’s what I want. There are about 4 others in the class who are auditing - all retirees!

I ran by the grocery store on the way home for milk and a few other items. Daughter is supposed to call me on her way home so I can pick her up at the car dealership. She’s due for an oil change and I’m letting her use my car tomorrow while hers is in the shop. 'Cause I’m nice, dammit!

**FCD **has an MRI this evening - not sure if I’m going to go or not. I may take my knitting and wait for him. Meanwhile, I need to pull something out of the freezer for supper - I’m thinking tuna steaks. Or poke. We’ll see what I find first.

**LiLi **- I guess Amos and Andy is right out also??

Hey everybody. Yeah I disappeared again and now I’m back again for a while. =^_^=

Um… what have I been doing? About the same old. My family and I went to Disneyland and California Adventure a couple of weeks ago. That was cool, since I hadn’t been since (I think) my 18th birthday and CA didn’t exist.

FCM I never could throw anything. Just don’t have the arm strength. So good for you!

Not even up?

Afternoon!

I have a presentation tonight that I had forgotten about!

And I have to prepare the presentation this afternoon

Oh well it will be what it will be!

Had nice lunch out with a supplier so that was good and I am working from home the rest of the day as the plumber was supposed to be here early this morning to fix the dishwasher and yet he showed up at 11…grrrrrrrr

I like working from home - I find I get more done

Forgot to mention - yay on the twins and I hope everything is OK on the scan LiLi

Pete & Re-Pete?

Hey FCM, can you throw a new pump and driveshaft?

Robo, hope you caught last night’s sunset. Particulate in the air sure makes for some purdy sunsets.

**lieu **- I could, but you couldn’t afford it…

I had to put a sweater on - it’s chilly in here. Still raining, too. **FCD **doesn’t want supper, so the tuna steaks go back in the fridge for tomorrow. I’ll have a sammich later. No biggie.

Now just waiting for daughter to call.

Thanks for an outstanding MMP, Pearl!

Rebo, lieu & all the rest of you Texans near the wildfires, please be safe! Remember, stuff can be replaced, you can’t!

Well my three day weekend was fine. The gf & I went over to her mom’s place and used the gas grill as gf’s mom is away for a few days. It was raining on and off all day. I waited for a break in the weather and then started all the prep work (slicing tomatos, etc.). The second I get the burgers & dogs on the grill it starts raining again. It didn’t stop until the second everything was done and I pulled the meat off the grill. Still, the food was tasty.

The tree that fell over still hasn’t been removed, but it’s been raining constantly all day. Hopefully it’ll be gone once the weather clears.

Tonight’s supper was weenies on the Foreman grill with pickles on the side and a nice cherry pie which went nicely with a mug of Hawaiian Punch.

Howdy Y’all! Welcome Filbert! Nickname to follow soon.

Chikin 'n dumplin’s, butter beans and squish for dindin. NUM! A nice southern comfort food sorta meal. MMMMMMM…

That’s about all I got for now. Kinda tahrd. Laterz!

Back from the horsepital - **FCD **got his MRI and came home with a disk - I hope they gave him the Director’s Cut…

Thunderboomers were going with a vengeance when we came out, so I left him at the entrance and went to get the car. Poor guy is in pain just walking. So I got soaked. I can get something out of it… maybe a foot rub?

Time to log off and assume the knit position. I’s tahred, so I’m hoping I can fall asleep early. Maybe a little amaretto will help the process??

I’m thinking amaretto might be just the thing for you,** FCM.** I’m sorry** FCD** is in such pain. That must just be so exhausting.

I’ve got a chicken, white and wild rice thingie baking in the oven. I didn’t make it from scratch; it’s one of the frozen meal things from Costco. Mr. Taters suggested it; he loves those things.

VWife and I won yet another trivia contest tonight at a local eatery. Free dinner next time! w00t!

**Nutty? Nutso? **

Sorry, **Hazel **is taken, if she ever shows up again…

Hello Filbert. (I suppose calling you Nut is out of the question?) :stuck_out_tongue:

Rebo, OOPS!! :eek::o:smack: Sorry!!!

Watching America’s Got Talent. Pretty quiet day.

Lili & Moooooom Hope respecive medical scans went/go well!

Aw, here’s a tissue Swampy. I got 30 boxes of those too.
