Is it Firday yet? At 3:30, I was thinking, hey, I’m all caught up, my to do list only has 6 things on it and I’m waiting for other people - I can finally clean my desk off. (My messy desk drives my cube neighbor nuts.) Why did I tempt fate like that? My IM starts flashing - my cube neighbor’s director has an urgent project that’s due tonight. Can I help? Sure, why not, I’ve got an hour to spare. 3 hours later, I finally staggered out the door. At least some of it was entertaining (and also required the use of a shredder). Good stuff.
I decided that I needed some retail therapy, so after dropping my laundry off, I headed to the mall. I bought a crimson patent leather purse that I have been waiting forever for. I justified the price by reminding myself that I have been looking for this purse for years. (Which is true, honest.) Then I couldn’t decide between 2 jackets, so I bought them both, one in purple, one in lime green. I finished the day by getting mauled by a strange man (I got a chair massage.)
I think I earned it after the past couple of weeks. And next Friday is a 3 day weekend for me! I was nice and let my co-worker have Monday off, even though I had already put in for it. Her family got an opportunity to go camping in Yosemite for a few days with friends. Better her than me. I love Yosemite, but my days of sleeping on the ground are over.
LOUNE, sucks about the car and about those laws. I’m looking forward to reading the “Ask the…” thread.

phil, I’m only an auntie, but yes, Mom and me do that. It took a while to get things sorted (and some subtle and unsubtle clue-by-fours applied with full force, as SiL had this habit of never letting us see the kidlet because “we don’t want to bother you” was always meeting and mating with “it’s not a convenient time”), but for the last few months before the summer set in, Mom would often pick The Nephew from kindergarten (or from The Other Grandma if he didn’t have school that day), take care of him for a couple of hours and then go pick up SiL/drop The Nephew off at work.
Morning all! Thank Og it’s Firday, right? I will be spending my day archiving exam papers and answer books - that means an orgy of destruction with twenty boxes of scripts from 2004 getting consigned to the shredder. Of course it also means I’ve got to move all the other batches of papers around in the store cupboard but that’s ok, I can handle that.
Apart from that, my day is pretty clear. I have laundry to do later and then I have to write out my packing list for my holiday just to make sure I don’t forget anything. You know the stuff, passport, tickets, festival passes, strange foreign currency, 'im indoors…
He had a bit of bad news yesterday, a colleague at work who sits four desks away apparently keeled over and died at lunchtime yesterday while he was out jogging. The poor guy was only 41. Just goes to show you never know what’s coming.

I can’t? I was hoping he’d end up as lost baggage on another flight altogether! We’re off to Budapest for the Sziget festival. Strange collection of bands but I’m looking forward to seeing Iron Maiden and the Sex Pistols. In between, we’re going to be doing touristy stuff, sightseeing and generally gossiping about folks. Should be fun!
It’s been strangely dead yet extremely busy here at the same time. Also, I’ve been working on making a skirt (not one of my better talents). Maybe I’ll post a picture of it when it’s done.
I’m not going to TVLand until Saturday this week because I’m catering a going away party Saturday afternoon. Ok, I’d better start thinking about getting ready for work.

Busy week, SDMB blocked at work, daughter grumpy and vomitous yesterday, so why do I have visions of girls in their underwear drinking grape Shasta and feeling up their room-mates, all while eating lesbian chocolate gingerbread and indulging in silly suicidal thoughts??? Must be withdrawal symptoms!!!

Looks like the sun’s comin’ out so Ima go be a pool slug for a while today. They say tstorms this afternoon, so looks like mornin’ is the best time for pool sluggin’.
And, best of all, I am only here until about 12:15 and then it’s off to the [del]torture chamber[/del] doctor’s for the vertigo treatment. After that Imma go home since it’s get-off-work-early-day.

think I’m just gonna relax and try to recouperate from this cold over the weekend. Next Friday, my son heads back to college and Arkansas.
I could use another cuppa. Oh well. At least I only have to work until noonish. (Probably a little later 'cause I didn’t get in until 8:20 or so.) I just hate these sloooooooooow weeks. I wish I could do some of the work from the busy weeks ahead of time when I have a slow week. Why doesn’t it work like that??
…though I’m not sure there’s much to be excited about, since I don’t have a weekend to look forward too. Grumblegrumblegrumble.
I ended up working till 8pm last night, but thankfully The Boy was also pulling a late shift. So he wandered over to meet me after work and we popped down to our favourite Japanese home-cooking joint for some okonomi yaki (for those who aren’t familiar, they’re a pancake-type thing chock-full of sprouts and onions and other stuff (like BACON!!!), and served hot with a smear of BBQ sauce… delicious, cheap and filling, which are my favourite qualities in a food). 'Twas rather nice, because I wasn’t looking forward to foraging for dinner at such a late hour.
FCM, congratumalations on all the new job for FCD! Glad to see all the nail-biting and worrying paid off. Fingers crossed for Daughter to have similar news soon. After all, the family that carpools together is a family that… well… ummm… has smaller gas bills?
Dotty, if the worst thing about the new job is that the Dope is blocked, it’s still pretty decent… right? Hope HRH feels better soon.
And now this talk of yummy food has got me hungry, so off I go to find some N.O.L..

Finally got round to sorting out the pics on my camera as I need to clear the memory card in readiness for my trip. I thought you might like a couple of pics of Shadow’s stitches as well as his impersonation of MrTubhead. I thought he would be pleased, at least his cone got tied on with a nice blue ribbon. Luckily he’s made a good recovery and the stitches will be coming out tomorrow.
