Independence Day MMP

As [del]threatened[/del] promised, here’s the new MMP.
I’m up (& out) early to go get high…after smoking all afternoon yesterday. That’s balloons & food; nothing ill-eagle. Once that’s done it looks like two of: catching the TdF, nearby parade w/ cousins (I’m not a parade watcher; I’m usually in them.) & nappage before driving to salt-water way for a BBQ & fireworks to then drive the 1½ hours home. Can’t wait for relaxing day at irk tomorrow. :o

Hijack topic: What are you doing for the 4th? What about the non-USAians like midget & BooFae? How are you celebrating today BooFae? :o

Happy Moonday!

Happy 4th of July!

and for your PSA of the day

Be careful if you go forth on the fourth with a fifth or you might not go forth on the fifth.

I’m up way too early, and have been up since 2:30 ish.
I’m sleepy, but I can’t sleep.

It’s a nice 67 degrees outside, the AC is off and the windows are open. It’s supposed to rain today, but that is what the WPTB said yesterday and they were wrong. As usual. According to my phone app today’s high is supposed to be 68, but I’m sure that is not correct.
Then the rest of the week goes up into the high 80s and low 90s, which is where the temp should be in July.

Today is just another day for me. No celebrations, and it will be irk as usual.

SSDD

Happy Go-it-alone Day, you ungrateful Colonials!

It’s Monday so I am celebrating by going to work and drinking tea, and of course reflecting on the fact that we are not the 51st State…although here in the Glorious Free Republic of the Wet Midlands, we can have our own independence day after the 23rd June vote. Looking at the refrendum results, the ward that I live in was the only one in our city to have voted for remain, everywhere else voted to leave. I expect some enterprising soul is already planning to build a wall around Park Ward and has probably got a list of Polish brickies lined up for the job.

Enjoy your beer-drinking, bbq-ing and blowing things up day!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 94 with a chance of pm showers (as per usual) and a heat index of around a hunnert for the day. Yep, 'tis July!

First off let me say…

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY USofA!!!
No huge plans for the day as we had a celebration on Sattidy. I foresee some cee-mint pond time and the grillage of hot dawgs for N.O.L. Tonight we shall hunker down and hope none of the drunken idiots sets the 'hood on fire. We shall be happy to spend the entire day at da cave.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, who knows. I may even go back to bed for a while. It’s a willy-nilly Moanday.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Good morning! Unlike sari, we had rain on and off all day yesterday. We’re promised more of the same today and into tomorrow - high of 72° today and 89° tomorrow. Guess that’s when July returns. Meanwhile, the house has been open since Firday, I believe.

I woke just before 5 today, after sleeping thru the night -woohoo! - and I dozed off again. I finally got up at 6:30, having dreamed that my brother drove into my kitchen (in the dream it was possible) and that I was about to turn on the dishwasher, but there was a little monkey in the back and I needed to get him out. So, how would one get a monkey out of a dishwasher??

Today’s plans: studio time. After prepping all that clay yesterday, I’m going to make stuff today. I just breakfasted on an egg-n-provolone sammich and I’m caffeinating. **FCD **has gone back to bed - he stays up way later than I do. He’ll probably be playing with his new 3D printer today. Bottom line - lazy day at home.

Yay for freedom to be lazy! Enjoy your workday, BooFae!

Happy Moanday!

Had my first day of my Graphic Design course today, but it was just orientation. I now know where the cafeteria is.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. It’s cool and starting to rain outside. I’m closing tonight.
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY
“The original Brexit”
And for all the EnglisH Mumpers:
HAPPY SOD OFF, BLOODY COLONIALS DAY!

I thought England called today Treason Day?
HAPPY 4TH TO ALL US 'MURRIKINS!
Blurfy Moanday to everyone else

First day at school or on the job, it’s important to know where to get food and where the toilets are. Everything else falls under “Miscellaneous”

Good luck with your class!

Good luck, Batboy. Mom is right. Food and bathrooms, in that order. Everything else is secondary.

As for Independence Day, I took a course in Pennsylvania history in college. King Charles owed the Penn family a debt, and the Quakers were a pain in his ass. So he gave the charter to the Penn family to get rid of both the debt and the Quakers. Considering all of the natural resources and geographic features here in Penn’s Woods, it’s not hard to (almost) feel bad for King Chuckles because he gave away all those goodies, poor baby. And then that Dear [del]John[/del] George letter came postmarked from Philadelphia… after all the Crown did for us, we had to go be ungrateful little snots and show our ass, so we had to be taught a lesson. We all know how that worked out.

Not much on the agenda today. We were out until four this morning because we went to the triple feature at the drive-in. Three movies, one-and-a-half of which I slept through. My former Monday kaffee klatch met, and I was able to join them. I’m now enjoying a solo breakfast of veggie omelette with egg beaters and tomatoes, and drinking decaf. I will go home shortly and sleep.

Good luck with your studies, bat boy!

Happy Independence day! to all of the USA mumpers.

Not much planned for today but I may go to the squirt gun parade this evening.

I finally was able to get back to sleep, sometime around 5am.
Now I’m up for reals.

It’s cool, and cloudy. Looks and smells like it’s going to rain any time now.

I ordered and sent some interior door keys to my mother. She called me the other night in a panic because one of the boys had locked one of the bedroom doors and pulled it shut behind him. She didn’t have one of the keys to get it open, so while she and one older boy were playing with the door trying to get it open one, the other older boy locked the bathroom door so he could experiment on that one to see how to get it open.
All the keys got lost, I know at least one fell behind the molding at the top of the door because somebody thought that was a smart place to keep them.
Fortunately for them, she found the key Sah-son had made from a paperclip wrapped in tape. The key has to have a flat edge that fits into a groove inside the lock.
I sent her a pack of 10, wonder how long they’ll last?

What’s weird is I found one on the bedroom floor here, but I don’t have any of those kinds of door knobs. Most of my doors have the original door knobs.

I need to get busy around here. Today is clean out the fridge day - usually done Sunday because trash day is Moonday, I want to clean out the junk drawer too, it’s getting a bit full and some stuff needs to be moved else where.

As I said before I am working today. Sunday, before a Monday holiday, is a big online ordering day so the expectations are that we’ll get swamped. Add to that folks not showing up and a couple folks showing up drunk and getting fired and I expect a long day. The good thing is that since its one of our 6 bonus pay days it will be worth it.

You put a banana in the oven. When the monkey gets out of the dishwasher to go get the banana, you close the oven door, turn on the heat, and have roast monkey for dindin. I thought everyone knew that! :stuck_out_tongue:

We went to Golden Corral for brekkie cause OYKW wanted a pigout and hey, if he’s buyin’, I’m eatin’. 'Twas good but there will be no desire for foodstuffs until much later now.

I have made a monster. Taking a break now before making something else. I’m thinking a steampunk bunny.

Working from 7am to 3pm…by which time the clouds will be in full-leak mode. Typical Portland Fourth.

What do all of the Brexiters think of what happened 200+ years ago today; yanno, one group trying to leave a larger group? :dubious:

I hearby declare it nappage time ('cause I’m falling asleep anyway)

Well, I’m back.

Actually, I returned to my abode about this time Sunday, but after 46 hours with only a few scattered naps on the plane flight home (16 hours Jo-Burg-Atlanta) in that time, I wasn’t really in any shape to be posting anything. After 11 hours of sleep, I do feel much better now.

Won’t bore you with too many details, I did see the “Big 5” (Lions, Leopards, Rhinos, Elephants and Hippos) and had a lot of fun with my friends, but I’ll leave it at several major points below unless you have any questions.

  1. Put Victoria Falls in Zambia on your bucket list. You will thank me for it if life gives you the opportunity to go there.

  2. S. Africa in July is COLD (like, 35-40F in the morning cold). Be prepared.

  3. Riding on the back of an elephant is not that hard (since even I can do it), but it is a great deal of fun.

  4. Do not arrive in Atlanta from overseas at 6am…unless you like being with 2,000 strangers trying to clear immigration.

Now, need to do some cleaning and house stuff. And find sustinance.

Good afternoon all. Just a ‘normal’ day here, will head into work soon. I will likely be assigned to the National Mall fireworks event, if it happens. Either way I expect to be wet and pissed off most of the evening, and if the weather is bad enough we’ll have to do it again tomorrow (rain date).

Post pics. That sounds epic(I still have the Fairychat Monster I bought years ago. )

Welcome back, MetalMouse!
OK, off to work.
