Independence Day MMP

The two subjects mentioned together.
All is now clear.
Do you stock up on smelling salts as well as TP?
Aunt Somebody in Gone With the Wind relied on smelling salts.
Aunt Piddy?
Aunt Putty?
Aunt Super Glue?
Whatever.

I worked, it was dead at work. Until the 4 insane people came in arguing with their cab driver. 3 minutes before close.:smack: Plus the dude in the Audi on the Beltline doing his best Ayrton Senna imitation.

 [Fred G. Sanford]IT’S THE BIG ONE,ELIZABETH! I’M COMING TO JOIN YOU![/Fred G. Sanford]

You can never have too much TP, ammo ,or liquor when the Zombie Apocalypse comes.

“Sometimes you need a cup of coffee ,before you make coffee”

No, that would be Blazing Saddles. Or Miracle.

Friggin’ July and it’s too cool to sit outside without a sweater.

Don’t hate me Flytrap, just remember this pic of my truck’s antennae http://i1277.photobucket.com/albums/y494/folwawup/Snow%202016/20160126_101513_zpskqzfx0ai.jpg and laugh

Welcome back MetalMouse, I’m glad you had a safe, and fun trip.

I stock up on TP two cases at a time, one case for each bathroom.

I like Blazing Saddles, Doggio
But my favorite movie is Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Happy Independence Day to all! We drove back from a long weekend in Toronto earlier today, and heard plenty of fireworks tonight around our hometown. We toasted the USA over dinner, and I’m listening to Sousa marches on YouTube as I write this.

I ccan’t name a favorite movie, there are too many I really, really like, and many are so very different.

But 1776 is WAY up there with me, I watch it everytime it’s one. Except maybe tonight. I have to go to work at 5:30AM CDT.:frowning:

One of my favorite scenes is where Franklin and Adams have left the Jeffersons alone together and Adams remarks that maybe NOW Jefferson will be able to finally finish the declaration. So Franklin reminds him he might have to wait just a little while. Adams looks back up the stairs to the Jefferson’s door, and in a shocked voice says “You don’t mean they’re going to…in the middle of the afternoon?” To which Franklin replies “Not everyone is from Boston, John.”

And although it brings a tear to my eye one of my favorite songs is the melancholy “Momma, look sharp” about a dead soldier pleading that his mother finds his body.

[Dennis]If I went around saying I was an emperor because some moistened bint lobbed a scimitar at me, they’d put me away!/Dennis]

And I have the 40th Anniversary Box set

I raised my children right. We started them on Monty Python when they were about 5.

“Help, help! I’m being oppressed!”

Especially living as close to Evans City as I do.

I would have preferred you offered a better argument (Monty Python - pick one) but I will say this; as much as I love some of those I have never gotten as many copies in as many formats of any film as I have 1776. The film itself I’ve had from poor quality bootleg 8mm to VHS to DVD; to be honest the only reason I bought our first DVD player was because the same store had 1776 for sale. I’ve got the full soundtrack on reel-to-reel and the normal music edition on vinyl, 8-track, cassette and now CD. Actually I have about 5 copies of the CD so I can keep one on the car, one in the office, one in the living-room, another in my shop and a back-up. I just really really love everything about the play and the movie and even the sorry-assed version with Brent Spiner — I own a copy of even that monstrosity. Flytrap would have been better in the part - he’s much more obnoxious and much easier to dislike. :stuck_out_tongue:

That and I just generally hate the British ----- Mumpers from across the Pond excepted; of course.

The one that came with the coconuts? That’s right next to my Necronomicon bound set of the Evil Dead trilogy.

The movie I have the most copies of is “This is Spinal Tap”. I’ve convinced my husband the kids are old enough to see it now. I don’t think we have all of the Evil Dead copies. I’ll have to fix that.

Oh ---- and Happy Anniversary of July 3rd to 4th 1754 when the French forces from Fort DuQuesne kicked George Washington’s arse and got him to admit to his assassination of Joseph Coulon de Villiers, Sieur de Jumonville. (It’s one of the reasons old George never could get into the celebration the way most other Americans did and have.)

With that my leg cramp has eased so I’m back to beddy-bye time.

Grr i am sick of insomnia.

The one with the catapult and the livestock. RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!

Lots of racket outside. Surprisingly, the Princess is not hiding under or in furniture.

We stayed in this evening. The “drivers” in my neighborhood are quite bad enough when it’s not a holiday that a lot of people use as an excuse for heavy drinking. Just finished watching “Independence Day”.

Morning, mumpers! Have you all survived the beer-drinking and blowing stuff up day?

Spidey, I am not sure what the Brexiteers make of it all, they have got the result they wanted but now they don’t seem to know what to do next. Aside from running around claiming that the sky is falling, the Remainers don’t seem to have much of a clue either. It’s all very strange, most of us are just carrying on as normal, doing what we usually do, and just occasionally stopping for a moment of “good grief, we’re leaving the EU! Better put the kettle on for tea then.”

Welcome home, metalmouse! Sounds like a fun trip, and definitely something on my list for when I win the lottery. Right now, I have to settle for a week in sunny Hungary with friends but that’s good enough for me.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffeinated, and purtified so no YAWN. ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 92, partly cloudy and maybe rain this afternoon. We shall see. We’re havin’ a <snerk> Quickie! <snerk> for brekkie and then the irk day starts. I’m headed to the north forty this mornin’ and in the orifice this afternoon. Rah.

OK, I hear rumblin’s from the boudoir so I take it OYKW is ready to go. Good cause I’s hongry!

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

boofairy, Hungary sounds like fun. I’ve never really visited much of Western Europe, save England, but it’s on my to-do list.

Managed to eat and re-provison the refrigerator yesterday but somewhere along the line I picked up a chest cold with the associated hacking, ‘stuff’ in the chest and a stuffy nose. Aspirin and Dristan are available and being applied.

Up at 0500 for reasons I cannot fathom. Expecting an afternoon nap to occur.

I made it to the office. I’m caffeinating, and I seem to have dressed my self reasonably for work, so that’s a win.

On the other hand, I had to close up the house and turn on the air this morning. The temp rose overnight, along with the humidity, plus it was still raining a bit. We’re promised lots of heat and humidity this week. rah. :stuck_out_tongue:

**FCD **made a part on his 3D printer last night. He’s designed a special buoy for the Coast Guard and after several reviews and changes, he’s pretty sure they’ve settled on the final design. So he’s going to print out a prototype. Last night, he made the ring that turns the light and transmitter on and off. Then he set it to start making the body. It’s been running all night, and it won’t be finished till around 11 tonight. It’s a fairly big part…

So now it’s time to remember what the heck I was doing last Firday before I left, then resume. Ugh. Happy Moanday redux, or Tuesday, if you prefer.

Blurf

Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Another closing shift today.
