I applied to be a student rep, a role which includes doing outreach stuff with schools and helping with events. I applied partly on a whim, but mostly because they pay, and they won’t interfere with class hours. They are interviewing all the applicants next week, and as part of it, everyone has to do a 2 minute presentation either on ‘why they applied’ or ‘something else they are passionate about’.
I am, in all likelihood, going to be not just older than all of the other applicants, I’m going to be pretty much old enough to be most of them’s Mum. I will be the token weird old person.
I’m highly tempted to do my 2 minute presentation on my passion for circus and generally making the world a slightly sillier place, and trying to teach everyone how to make a balloon dog- handing out a pre-inflated balloon to everyone and doing a twist-along-with-momma.
I have the balloons, and 2 minutes might be enough time, if I can hand them out before I start.
I can’t decide if this would be a great plan or a really, really bad one.
**Nut **- unless the outreach stuff is deadly dry and serious, I’d say go for the balloon dogs! It’s creative, it shows how you can work with a group, and it’s certainly memorable. Definitely better than some boring talk about applying in order to make the world a better place or some such yawn-inducing talk.
I’ve emptied and refilled the dishwasher, rid the fridge of fuzzy stuff that had migrated to the back, and hauled garbage and recycling to the convenience center. Go me! This has been a productive day and it’s not yet 2!!
Howdy everyone from irk. No internet so I am using the hotspot. The phones don’t work and neither does the point of sale machine or the wifi. Everything is fubar.
Pepper is learning to leave the cats alone. Not the traditional way, which involves sharp pointy objects, pain, and blood, but by me squirting her in the face. Apparently my cats are so used to dogs instinctively fearing them that they freeze in terror and do nothing.
Ok, I will just talk to myself like the **Swampbear ** does. On the elbow front I had it drained of 50cc’s of bursa fluid on Sat and went back and had about half as much drained on Tuesday. Doc injected some cortisone and said the fluid is protective. It has not filled back up again and I was told not to prop on it. Good thing about this is the antibiotics have helped my lungs from the crud.
I’ll be talking to myself and making balloon dogs for the weekend, trying to get it down to 2 minutes. If the neighbours don’t already think I’m a bit odd, they will do soon.
It’s quite good pizza - the stuff we get delivered all the time! If you have 5 receipts, each for more than $10, you get a free large 2-topping pizza. I got mushroom and extra cheese. Two slices are quite enough for a meal, so I have enough for 4 meals in one free pizza. Yay!
Higgs is being a brat. I’ll be feeding her in about 10 minutes. That’ll shut her up for a minute or two.
Butters, don’t know if you’re allowed to have one, being a gubmint institution & all, but if you are allowed, look into Square, it works anywhere you have a cell connection, so it would work whilst your intertubez are down, & even if you wanted to charge out in the field at one of your events. I have one, not the least expensive but not bad either, & the mobility of it offsets the reasonable fees.
Nuts, listen to him; he speaks from experience. :o
Pizza has been ingested along with apple pie and ice cream. Whilst in :eek:Wally*Jr. earlier I picked up an apple pie for us to consume and one to take on Sunday. The pies are really good and well, one can never have too many desserts, now can one?
Butters ouchie! Hope the elbow is all better soonest.
nuts, I hope that the balloon dogs get lotsa smiles and brownie points.
EoM is done, groceries are bought, supper is et. This weekend will be chores and putting together silly masks for the heathen children. Neither their educational coordinator nor I will be there this month, so I’m keeping it simple for the fill in guy.
Tomorrow I get to go back to bed after taking Nelson out at oh-dark-thirty.
I’ve been crocheting and sitting like a lump in front of TV - except when I took the dog out. It’s been a restful evening after a busy chore day.
I’m very pleased with my new night lights. One is in the garage and the other is in the hallway. The one in the garage gives off just enough light to keep me from crashing into the car. I put some aluminum foil behind it to reflect more light - for a small LED, it’s pretty bright! I had to put the one in the hallway upside down to keep it from blinding me.
Tomorrow will be busy again, mostly with yard work. I’ve got laundry to do, but I’m thinking it’ll all go in the dryer, because. This lack of adult supervision is really weird…
