It's a 99 Party MMP!

Oh, that’s right, it’s a long weekend! That makes next week for Papa Tigs, with his new every-other-Firday RDO, have another painfully long three-day week. The sad, sad life of a gummint employee. :dubious:    (Considering he gets about 30-40 credit hours every two weeks, it’s not like he doesn’t deserve an every-other-Firday RDO, but I’m still going to harass him about it!)

Sorry I missed you in the wee hours, Roo – I gave up about ten minutes before you showed up and went off and crawled into bed for a few hours. Now I’m up and back at it. I was trying to get to the halfway mark on this 160-minute-recording job last night; I made it to 77 minutes, which was all I could hold my eyes open for. So I have the other 83 minutes to finish today, ASAP.

From QD’s thread, it sounds like LiLi didn’t end up with the birth experience she was hoping for…but she still had a successful one, i.e. a healthy mom and a healthy baby, which is all that matters. Thank Og for medical intervention – when it’s really necessary, it’s really necessary, and it sure beats the olden times alternative. Definitely pictures are next on the agenda!

Back to the salt mines. Hopefully I’ll get done early enough to take a nice nap!

Yas, for those who don’t know, this monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day which we didn’t used to get off even though the banks and federal buildings were all closed. TPTB finally decided it behooved a marketing biddness to observe said holiday for the sake of appearances.

At least it’s a break from 24-hour coverage of the latest Dead White Girl (now with added military benefits!). The crime blotter in the local rag only covers Men Beating Women, Shiny Things Stolen, and Robberies Everyone Knows About. When someone cruised through my neighborhood back in October and vandalized a bunch of cars (including Complicated Roommate’s) there was nary a word about it in any news media. Nobody knows if the idiots who did it were caught.

This has been an intense week. I am exhausted.

I am currently listening to a confernce call from our CEO on 2007 results. We ‘apparently’ generated billions in revenue and profits increased massively and yet today after they announced results our stock dropped almost 8% in the space of an hour. Oh well!

Even though I have to work this weekend I am looking forward to not being at work while I do it.

This just in: a winter storm watch to include Cottonfield County, with 4 to 12 inches predicted, based on the forecast model. And I have ambulance duty on the day shift tomorrow.

My beloved rednecks don’t have a collective clue of how to drive in snow; I predict a long day of car wrecks in my immediate future.

VBob - Hell, many Canadians have no clue how to drive in snow. Especially the first snow of the season. There’s some kind of force brought down with the first snow that clearly delineates fall from winter that strike’s people’s brains, making them flatly deny that there’s anything on the ground that would make driving problematic.

Puggy - Hey, at least it was made a statutory holiday – whatever the motivation, a day off is a day off.

Bleh. Lunch is done with. Now I’m feeling all logy and I wanna go home and sleep.

Amen, sister.

Mindy, I was just wondering the other day what was up with you.
Seems like it’s been an intense week for a lot of us.

My brother just stopped by, and reading his lease I realized that the late fee for his rent was not nearly as high as he said it was. That kids seriously lacks reading comprehension skills.

I think I might try and get my hair cut today. It’s gotten all messy and the last person who cut it made the ends all blunt, which I don’t really like.

Yah, what’s with the market? Our option grants are worse than worthless right now - I’d have to pay money to sell shares.

On the plus side, I just got a thank-you note for my assistance in helping manage an incident last night on one of our many servers. Of course, a more tangible expression of gratitude is always nice, but this really was more of an “Aw shucks, just doin’ my job, Ma’am!” kind of thing. Even if someone calls me in a panic just as I was about to fall asleep. :frowning:

The jaw’s less sore, but the new filling’s just enough higher in a spot to be different. I’ll probably wind up putting a burr on the Dremel and trim the little booger off.

Don’t look at me like that! It’s plastic, not tooth that’s being trimmed. I’ve had an unfortunately large amount of experience in trimming teeth and fillings to keep the TMJ copacetic. When dentists do it, they call it “equilibration” and charge buckets of money, and the dental insurance people say “TMJ disorder is medical, not dental, and we’re not paying!” I could buy several new Dremel tools for what the dentist charges, and it only takes a couple minutes.

Ah, latest stock quote - we’re a couple cents over the basis price, so the options aren’t completely under water. Of course, by the time taxes are witheld and the broker fees deducted, my net proceeds would not be enough to buy a Big Mac.

Meanwhile, it’s Firday. Where did that intentional misspelling come from? I prefer working with oak or walnut anyway. I’m just waiting for the weather to improve so working out in the garage to get it organized and finish building my workbenches is tolerable. Come Spring, I have a few projects queued up.

Don’t remind me about Monday. The slackers in Retail Banking get MLK day off, but there’s no day off for infrastructure support. (You didn’t think we just turned off the ATMs on holidays, did you?)

Off to forage for more coffee. Happy Pineday!

I am so glad it’s Firday! I woke up about 4 am this morning, choking on a broken piece of tooth. One of my front teeth is disintegrating. This is the same tooth that was broken when my face got in the way of my father’s foot when I was 6 (that’s my mother’s story, and she’s sticking to it.) It has slowly lost tiny bits over the years, but apparently it’s switched to full-on disintegration mode.

There is much drama at work today, such that no work is being done, with lots of chatter in the halls. The rumours are flying, and I expect security is going to be much, much tighter from now on.

Haven’t actually read anything, but we’re home. TNC arrived at 11:50 Tuesday night, just ten minutes before midnight.

Ooh, I’m so tired my eyes don’t want to focus. And if i ever eat hospital food again I think I’ll shoot myself in the foot.

Stubborn bugger wouldn’t come out on his own. Induced at 2 am on Monday/Tuesday, tried until nine or ten on Tuesday night. C-section and that’s why we’re just home now.

Aerin looks thoroughly confused. Not angry, just confused.

He’s asleep in his carseat behind me, and I’m all worried because he doesn’t usually fall asleep anywhere but on someone. Shut up, paranoia.

I’m home today for my RDO. I was up much earlier, but that’s because I woke up in pain…serious pain. I woke up the first time at 6:20 in just a bit of pain. I thought perhaps I had gas or something, because the area around my heart really hurt. So, I tried to um…pass gas. No go. I tried lying down for another hour or so, but the pain only got worse.

While trying to lie down, I’d get up and try to um…pass gas. No go.

Finally, I got up again at about 7:20 and tried sitting upright in a chair. With trips to the bathroom to, you guessed it, try and pass gas. No go.

I sat there in so much pain that I was starting to feel sick and was breaking out in this prickly kind of sweat. I peeled my sweater and my bra off because I was so uncomfortable. Finally, after over another hour of just pure misery, it finally went away.

I went back upstairs to bed because I was falling asleep in my chair. I slept until close to 10:00 and here I am again.

God, I don’t want to experience THAT again.

I should steam clean my stairs while nobody is home. Maybe I’ll go do that now.

ETA: Woot! I’m first on a page!

ETA again: I’m so glad you and baby are home Li-Li! Get used to the being tired bit. You’re going to spend the next several months in that state. I’m glad QD posted about you so we would know what’s going on. I’m sorry the actual birth didn’t go as you planned, but the important thing is that both you and **Nat ** are healthy.

Ouch, Taters. I’m glad you’re feeling better.

Welcome back, LiLi! And tnc!

I’m meeting BlueKangaroo today to go see Persepolis. I think I might head out a bit early and do some shopping.

I could ask for pictures, but the EMT side has pulled priority over the smart-ass lech.

So, did you ever pass the gas or have a movement? I ask, because heart problems in women tend to act like gastric problems, where in men they show up as the stereotypical chest/left arm pain.

Unless you blew the toilet apart with an accompanying sudden release in the pain, go get your ticker checked yesterday.

Yay!!! LiLi’s home with Nat! Here’s hoping the sleepless nights are all done in a couple of months! HRH started sleeping from 10pm to 6am by the time she was 7 weeks old (Thank Og!), so I have my fingers crossed for you darlin’!

Bobbio, thanks for your concern and lecherousness.

No, I didn’t pass any gas. I am planning on making an appointment with the doctor anyway. I am long overdue for a check-up.

I am the perfect candidate for heart problems: smoker, overweight, and not real good about exercising.

**Taters **-- I’m no EMT, but I’m married to an MD so some of the danger signs sort of rub off; as **VBob **said already, run, don’t walk! to your doctor.

**Lili **-- If you shoot yourself in the foot, you’ll have to be hospitalized… and eat the food there. Sounds like a vicious circle to me :stuck_out_tongue:
More seriously – congratulations!!! :D:D:D

ems, haze, can I join you in the Amen chorus…?

Aerin has a carseat???

Sleep every time the baby does. Let Mr. Lissar and the other husbands wait on you and do not feel guilty about it. You just had major abdominal surgery and need every ounce of strength to heal and get back to normal.

Can’t wait to see the little bug. (Gnat, hee, hee, hee.)

Yay **LiLi **and LittleBug! (What? He needs an appropriately obscure nickname!)

Since a couple people keep mentioning it, what’s RDO? I’m guessing it’s not a “Random Day Off” since it sounds scheduled. Although a random day off would be a good thing!

You guys have news beyond the presidential elections?? I mean they’re only 11 months away! They should be covered 24-7 on all 563 news networks!

The bedroom painting got done last night. It’s Benjamin Moore’s “balsam” and looks fantastic. Now on to the 3 bathrooms and the BIIIIIIIG wall in the living room/dining room. I like the rolling part, but the trim work sucks.

I have a lot to do at work - the checklist in front of me has 6 items on it and there are a bunch of other unlisted items too - but I’m totally unmotivated. Bleh.

who’s Aerin? what did I miss?

Welcome back Li-Li. Now we need pictures! (I told **QD ** so in the other thread, too)

TOIFirday! My head is finally clearing - just in time for the weekend (tonight & tomorrow) coaching session. Boy, will I be able to hit those low notes this weekend! cough hack wheez

Aerin is Teh Kitteh.
