It's equinox time again in the MMP!

Dogs is weird…

Just finished eating my leftover pollo fiesta from lunch. Just as yum reheated! And I just ordered a grow light for my greenhouse. Tomorrow, I’m going to tear out all the old plants and start new ones in the hope of having 'maters, peppers, and cukes thru the winter. We shall see, yes? I’ve got a timer for the lights and I’ll probably need a heater come winter - I’ll figure that out when the time comes. Worst case, I move the plants into the basement with the grow light. What can go wrong?? Right?

Back to my recliner and my knitting and chillage.

dicey, your folks’ tape habits may make doggio’s day, but they just make me curse when opening packages. :stuck_out_tongue:

VanGo, Cinnamon is weird.

Talked to Dad for a bit, took Nelson to the 'Boro for a play date with the former neighbor dogs (much tail wagging) and am in now. Brisket, collards and hot water cornbread for supper.

I think I spent most of yesterday on the phone, but it’s good to hear from friends and family, so I’m definitely not complaining. I took cookies to the office for the maintenance guy. Naturally, he was out doing maintenance. Hopefully they got to him. They were just oatmeal cookies the way I prefer them (more brown sugar and less white, caramel and rum extracts instead of vanilla, and with white and semi-sweet chips, walnuts, and craisins mixed in). I also left some at the door of the new neighbors across the hall (with a note so they know it’s not some random whacko but the one next door).

No word from the allergy clinic at UW, and I was told they’d call me yesterday at the latest. So I’ll be calling Monday a.m., and while I shall be very pleasant, I shall also be persistent and insistent. If they could share the itching for an hour or two, I’m sure they’d get me right in. I’m worried they’ll schedule out a month or two, and honestly, i don’t think I can stand this that long.

I had a long workout at the gym today. You’d think that’d make me itchier, but it doesn’t.

shoe, glad you’re doing better. Hopefully the ambulance ride doesn’t cost you anything.

Oopsie, yay on getting a surgery date and on having such thoughtful friends.

Mooooom, glad FCD doesn’t have DVT and that the fair was so much fun. Did Roxy do well on the potty-training while there?

VanGo, Cinnamon sounds…complex.

Yup, Cinnamon is an… unusual dog. He’s incredibly sweet with people, but he don’t like other dogs.
He’s an old man and he has his ways. I want him to stick around as long as possible, so I’m doing whatever I can to keep him healthy.

FCM Good luck on the winter garden.

nellie Can I get some of those cookies? They sound great!

Howdy Y’all! As promised sloth has ruled the day. Chillage, tackleball, nappage, and general all around laziness by both of us. So nice! I pulled a couple steaks outta da freezer for tomorrow’s sustenance. I have not decided upon the accoutrements yet.

Roxy did perfectly at the fair and at the restaurant after! The kid is finally figuring it out!

We just finished doling out the last of FCD’s meds for the week until he’s allowed NSAIDS again (next Fri) - he’s still got lots of pain and for whatever reason, he won’t go to the Dr about it. The man makes me crazy sometimes. But it’s not a hill I want to die on…

Time to turn off this machine and knit till I can’t keep my eyes open.

You bet! Come on over!

Yaaaaay!

That’s a good suggestion! Is that possible?

Man, that’s always when things go downhill, ain’t it?

I don’t know if we can be friends anymore.

D’awwwwwww!

If I had a K-cup machine, I’d do the same! More power to ya.

Today was insanely hectic. No chance of asking.

That’s marvelous news!

Made Asian BBQ chicken, and had a liter of Pauliner Oktoberfest(it came with a liter mug)

[Progressive ad]I unfriend you.[/Progressive ad]

Dinner was good. I also made mushrooms with the excess pesto. It was a bit salty, though. In the future I’ll stick (heh) to unsalted butter (which is my default anyway).

Pot roast came out pretty good. The sauce wasn’t as thick as I’d like (even with my trick of adding unflavored gelatin powder) but it was still yum.

I was a bit heavy-handed with the carrots during this morning’s prep, so hopefully, it’s also extra healthy!

Washing down a multivitamin, and heading off to bed soon. Maybe have a pudding cup for dessert, first.

Good night, Mumpers, and may we all enjoy a good night’s sleep.

Aggravating day, and expensive, but we now have new wheels and tires on the car and a full-size spare in the trunk. We now need to solve the problem of a non-stable trunk floor (the “floor” is now balanced on the spare and misses being flush at the corners by a couple of inches) , but we’ll figure that one out. We even survived the trip to Roseville and back, despite the remarkable level of stupid out in traffic. Still gotta schedule a wheel alignment for next weekend.

Also irritating how hard it is to find fast food with dine-in. One McDonald’s had signage explaining the dining room was closed due to low staff. All I can really say is that as psycho as customers are getting, I won’t even consider fast food employment unless I’m a hell of a lot more desperate than I think I’ll have any reason to be any time in the foreseeable future.

On a lighter note, DH (one of whose previous careers involved sound analysis) is trying to determine how loudly Misty coos. Problem here is that she shuts up as soon as the sound level meter comes out. Pretty intelligent for someone as committed to pooping in her water dish as she is.

I think I need to visit Washington. I made chocolate chip cookies with coconut and almonds (plus pecans, because I wanted to use them up), but cookies with oatmeal are my favorite. Hubby’s not a big fan, so that’s why I didn’t make oatmeal ones.

All this talk of fried chicken makes me think of KFC BBQ, which we would get for the Torchlight parade (Seattle Seafair). The nearest KFC is over an hour away, and I’m not sure they have the same BBQ sauce as 30 years ago. Supposedly there’s good fried chicken in Luzern, but it probably doesn’t compare to what I could get in the states.

Rained overnight and will rain some more today. Might have to get out the umbrella to get to the train station. Probably won’t melt, as I’m not that sweet.

Happy Sunday!

Wow, I got, like, 6 or 7 straight hours of hard, deep sleep? (Eating a big meal right before bed is always best for me. I realize I’m an outlier there.)

Up for my bio break, but will shortly lay back down, because it’s still way early.

Usually, I snack on whatever I didn’t finish of dinner, thus making it Second Dinner. But considering I cleaned my plate last night, and am now snacking on Cheerios, sausage, and two different kinds of cheese, plus orange juice, I think we can consider this First Breakfast instead.

Onward, back to bed!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 57 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 87 and N.O.S. for the day. Second Summer is creepin’ back upon us. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization. I have Verge duty today. We shall head back to da cave afterwards and munch on sammiches for N.O.L. We shall sup upon steak, peas ‘n carrots, company smashed N.O.T. and rolls. A feast to look forward to snarfin’ down!

MOOOOOOM yay for the RoxStar and potty trainin’! Maybe it’s the bein’ around others all day at her pre-school that’s doin’ the trick.

shoe sounds like that pot roast was just the thing. Happy second sleep!

die I always say I won’t melt cause I’m not a wicked witch. I’m more like Phil, The Prince of Insufficient Light.

Nettie here’s hopin’ today is less aggravatin.’.

MetalMouse I would not unfriend you for not bein’ a fan of fried chikin, but I will look down upon you with a gaze of utter disgust at your unholy ways.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

I did, thanks to my good buddy Mel!

Spousal unit really likes them, too. He’s not so crazy about raisins in them, but he does like pecans and craisins added. I use my MIL’s recipe, but I add cinnamon, and they’re really good!

I was up around 4:30 when I heard FCD moving around. Attempts to fall back to sleep were unsuccessful, but I did stay in bed a couple of hours messing with my tablet. Now, however, I’m up and fed and I’ve tended the critters. A little later, I shall don grubbies and tear apart the wilted remains of my veggie patch, then prep the greenhouse for a winter crop.

My grow light should be delivered on Thursday. I need to run a weatherproof extension cord from the house to the greenhouse, and I need to add a timer so the plants get enough light. I doubt that the light will keep things warm enough - around 70° - but it’s a small space so with luck, a small heater will work. And I have a small heater, so yay there! Last on the list is finding a decent size watering can - I don’t think taking a hose in there would be too smart.

I’m also going to repair our sliding screen door. The place that used to do it for us went out of business, and I can’t find anywhere else nearby. But I looked at a couple of videos - there’s nothing to it!! I think we even have a spline tool. So that’s my other chore du jour.

And I think this week, I’ll finally reupholster the dining room chairs. I should have done it months ago! They’re so stained - after almost 25 years - plus grubby toddler hands have filthified the chairs themselves. I’ll clear the workbench in the shop and take the chairs out 2 at a time. If I cut out the fabric ahead of time, that’ll speed the process. Wow - I have a plan! Go figure!

And at some point today, I’m going to make the navy bean soup I’d thought about a few days ago. I know there’s some ham in the freezer somewhere. Just gotta forage for it.

Happy Sunday!!

metal mouse, I’m not so sure about your taste, re the fried chicken thing. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yay for continued improvement in potty training Mooooooooom!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. The Sunday chores are on the agenda today, but not much else.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning all. Got back from soccer and about 4pm I laid down for a little nap…which lasted until 7:30pm…then stayed up until nearly 1am and woke up this morning about 6:30am, so my sleeping schedule has been slightly odd this weekend. Mowage is planned, but the lawn is damp right now (53F outside, heading for 80F) so needs to dry out some.

FCM, grow light, heater, greenhouse…just what are you growing out there?? :herb:

nellie, stay after the clinic; persistence is good.

I don’t get all the ‘Don’t eat fried chicken’ hate here. It’s not that I don’t eat it, just I’ll go to Wendy’s and Burger King instead of KFC or Chic-fil-A and never learned the secrets of breading chicken (heck, tossed my deep fryer years ago when I game up eating French fries at home). But I’ll eat chicken when offered, heck, even ate duck in Peking (Beijing) a couple of times.

Now, when I say I’ve never eaten pizza in my entire life…

OK, need to do some internettin’ then look to do mowage around 10am. All y’all take care.

Up and feeding myself a smoothie. Had to break out a flannel shirt this am. The tasks for the day are pull the ACs from the windows, I think the time for them is over. Then perhaps mowage. And I’ll think about painting the side of the house. I seriously doubt I’ll actually do any painting, don wanna.

Happy sunday, all!

If all goes well, 'maters and peppers and cukes. :stuck_out_tongue: I hate the plastic tomatoes that show up in stores off-season, so I’m hoping to grow real ones of my own. Here’s hoping…

FCD is still abed. I’d like to shower and dress, but he needs sleep more than I need to get cleaned up. So I’ll be nice, dammit.
