It's equinox time again in the MMP!

Up from nap time, watching some F1 practice, and having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned..

We are like toddlers. give us a bottle, and we’re satified. :champagne:

Bless you , sir.
Rats? Bread? SANDWICHES!
:sandwich: :snake:

Yay Oopsie!

And Bojangles s the place for fried chicken. Now I have a gnawing and a craving. :poultry_leg: :poultry_leg: :poultry_leg:

Evening all. Soccer got practiced, I coach three games tomorrow but no referee time as all the games are early starts. Went to a local family restaurant and had grilled ham-n-cheese sammiches with french fries and sweet tea while I worked out my lineups. Heading off to bed shortly as the games start at 8:30am.

Oopsie, glad you got the good news; it’s always easier when you have a known date for something

Shoe, you really need to ask, make it as part of how much you appreciate all they did and you concur with their actions, you just want to know so you can be prepared…

FCM, enjoy the fair; haven’t been to one in a long time (need to check around).

gotti, good ta see you around! Hope the job comes through for you. And hope the back doesn’t become a recurring issue.

Assorted hugs, laughter, tears and grins in whatever quantity you need. All y’all take care.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. it’s my Firday.

shoe, I’m glad to see you’re eating. Hope you continue this streak.

nellie I hope your Doc gets you a better solution.

doggio you’d love getting packages from my mom and dad. I think they cover the entire surface with clear packing tape.

All this talk of apples makes me want Winesaps, specifically Stayman Winesaps. I’ve never seen them here, but they are plentiful. (Just looked and it seems they are known in South Tyrol area. Now just to figure out how to get my hands on them.)

I make do with Braeburns, but I’ll eat Gala and Jazz as well. I enjoy Granny Smith, but they are shipped from New Zealand. I think I can find a more local apple to enjoy.

Glad it’s Saturday nd the beginning of a blessed two week vacation. My coworker invited for Tuesday - Friday, all day workshops, starting mid-October until end of the year. In person. She’s not vaccinated, and everyone else in the team is. Not happy.

Today’s schedule is cutting back the peonies, roses and lilies. Next week we’re going to move the peonies and lilies next to the fence.

Then I have to pack for a 3-night getaway. This will be the longest time away from home since March 2020, and we’re staying in the country.

Time for breakfast.

Oh yeah, that won’t make my butt look big at all! :open_mouth:

For the record, I did choose jeans, a polo shirt, and a navy blue cardigan that’s too big, because I haven’t bought any since shedding poundage. (adds to to-do list)

There’s a deli about 3 or 4 miles from us that’s known for its fried chicken. Little hole in the wall place and if you don’t time it right, you’ll wait in a long line to place your order. I’m not a huge fan of fried chicken in general, but this stuff is good. And their jo-jo fries are killer! They even deliver, tho I think the $5 charge is a tad steep, so mostly I just drive there myself.

Don’t give in to panic. Hereabouts, most ambulances are thru the local VFD and as far as I know, they don’t send bills - at least I wasn’t billed the one and only time I was transported. Tho they did sent me a note soliciting a donation. And I donated.

All righty then. I’ll be so glad when FCD is off his pain meds. I was sleeping soundly in dreamland when the damned alarm went off at 5 and I couldn’t get back to sleep. So I’m up, dressed, fed, and I’ve tended the critters… except for scooping cat poop. That’s next. Then I need to go to WaWa to get some cash (they have a no-fee ATM) so I can afford my fair ticket and lunch. I don’t typically have much cash on me and I doubt I can use my VISA anywhere in the fair except at their ATM.

I’m taking the truck, which is loaded with old paint. SIL and his brother will dispose of it for me today at the Hazardous Waste Amnesty Day at the dump. So yay. They’ve also got some old furniture they’re getting rid of. Yay for two young guys doing the heavy lifting!

Not sure how long we’ll be at the fair. The two things my daughter really wants to do are the parade (her students are marching) and the pig races. Plus she’ll let Roxy go on a few rides. I need to remember to grab a mask - we’ll use them when we go inside the exhibit halls. And I should probably remove as much extraneous crap from my purse as possible, or it’ll get too heavy too fast.

Anyway, that’s my day. I hope yours is as much fun!

Happy Saturday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 57 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 84 and N.O.S. for the day. Temps are slowly creepin’ up, Summer part 2 will appear in a couple of days. No big plans for the day. Much general sloth shall ensue. Any need to feed will be via forage.

oopsie yay for surgery date! I love that your friends are plannin’ a “last meal” for you. They are good people. I like the blog idea.

die yay for vacation. Enjoy the time off and practice your sloth skills. They will come in handy when you retire.

shoe how nice of your boss to think of the ratties. I am sure they enjoyed their bread treat.

MOOOOOOM have fun at the fair. I can’t remember the last time I was at a fair.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

here a lot of the vendors were set up for debit and credit …it amazed me …

It was canceled last year, but the year before was Roxy’s first. We have video of her yelling back at the sheep and goats as they “baaaaaaaah”'d from their pens - it’s hilarious! The kid loves to yell, even today!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 20C/66F out there and “mostly cloudy”. That suits me fine, I have been out and about, and have to go out and about again soon. Went to the gym first thing for bootcamp and spin, having called in at the petrol station nearest to home to put some in the tank. The reports of shortages have caused a lot of idiots to buy unnecessarily, I don’t drive much and have only a few local journeys planned for the next couple of weeks so I half-filled the tank as that will be plenty to see me through to our next bigger trip.

After the gym, I popped over to feed our friends’ ferrets (passing a petrol station with queues of about 30 cars at each entrance, and another completely deserted station where the only queue was for the car wash). I debated stopping at the pet store for cat litter but I have enough in the house for a few days, and I need to take my car to the dealer’s on Thursday to have the rear locks fixed after a safety recall, and the dealership is in the same area as the retail park where the cat litter comes from.

Now back at home, showered and presentable, ready for the next exciting thing to come along. We are at a weekend rock festival at a couple of local venues so the next challenge is deciding what to wear!

Yay on a surgery date oopsie!

Moooooooom, while it wouldn’t hurt to have a little cash on you, most vendors are set up for card transactions (I even have a card reader for sales from my studio). I do tend to like cash for days like fair or yard sales simply to keep tabs on how much I’m spending.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and a little doggo resting on my lap. We’ll move about in a bit when I begin on my Saturday chore list and start a new project in the studio.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I had ferrets in college! Stinky little mischief-makers … but you can’t help but love an animal that keeps its baby playfulness up to its very last days.

That, and their hopping “war dance” totally made up for their, ah, less than stellar litter-training capabilities.

That made me laugh.

Thank you for a much-needed kick in the ass. I will ask at the first opportunity for a quiet chat (food service on Saturday can be hectic) and I will remember your post as I screw together the courage.

Are you not supposed to? That’s what I do, mostly to weather-proof the contents. (Having come home in a downpour to find a soggy box forlorn at my door more than once … )

Hey everyone!

I’m back from my work trip to Yakima. I’ve retained little and read the last two days’ posts. Yay for potty successes and surgery dates! Glad it wasn’t DVT, FCM. How scary!

Thursday and Friday were total clusterf****. I was literally too exhausted to eat dinner on Thursday night, but forced myself to get some, ate it, and fell into bed at the hotel at 7:30. Long story short, things were not done properly prior to my arrival (CONEX loaded incorrectly, installers couldn’t get to the pieces needed for installation without having to almost completely empty the CONEX (40 footer filled floor to ceiling with CRAP, miscommunication between UNICOR and subcontractor about the scope of work in contract, dealing with a subcontractor of a subcontractor, pieces missing for furniture install, upset installers, their boss upset, me in the middle working feverishly to find fixes (which I did), and the list goes on. The color on the new cube panels doesn’t match the old panels. Working with UNICOR now to see if there is a fix. If the person who ordered this furniture ordered the wrong color, then it’s on us; but if the lot color somehow changed, then we’re hoping UNICOR can help. I think it’s option B, because the old paperwork shows the old pieces to be used in new installation are marked with the same color as the new stuff. At this point the staff will have to deal with it; I don’t have the money in the coming year to pay for new stuff, especially since it wasn’t submitted as part of my spend plan. We’ll see what happens.

I have to leave home at 4:00 in the morning on Monday morning to drive back to Yakima to be there for installation completion and punch list walk-through. After that, I’ll either have to drive back home the same day and return Tuesday morning, or stay overnight, so I can be in Yakima for the disposal of the remaining CONEX contents. My budget funds have been swept so there’s no money for travel, and it would be on me to pay for the room. I may just do it. I don’t see the point in making extra trips.

BS like the above is what happens when I’m cleaning something up from two years ago. The contracting officer then was notoriously cheap, and he was the one who set up this furniture package. The problem is that colors change, and the pieces needed to put the furniture together change. So we now have a bunch of missing parts. I should have been here when the movers loaded up the CONEX in March, but I had competing priorities and had to rely on someone (who has since retired) to be my point man. I don’t know if he didn’t ensure the contract specifications were met, or if the movers just did their thing, or what.

All that being said, the installers were professional, and since the people who actually work in the office couldn’t be arsed to show up in case something needed to be done, helped me to help them moving boxes the office staff should have had moved. One guy showed up on Thursday, and he was helpful that day. I even paid for his lunch since he worked so hard to help me out. I can’t fault him for not being there Friday because it was his day off. But, someone else from the office could have shown up.

I actually don’t mind leaving in the wee hours of the morning, but I want to be for a fun trip, not work where I will deal with aggravation.

Anyway, it’s been a super long three days. My workdays were long because I was on the computer at 4:30 in the morning and didn’t log off until 7:30. I will be glad when this crap is done.

Polar was sad when I was gone and didn’t want to eat. He was super happy to see me last night and hasn’t left my side except to potty since I’ve gotten home.

I need to wash the road dust, forest fire particles, and bugs off my rig today or tomorrow. I know it’s only going to get dirty again, but I’ve got smeared bug guts all over my windshield, and swooshing with wiper fluid and wipers only smeared them more.

I’ll take care of chores this weekend, and pack up Sunday night for my trip back over. Such fun!

For now, I’m going to enjoy my coffee and relax.

Work went surprisingly well. I’m gonna nap before college handegg.

Yes. Too much is never really a problem. Too little, and your stuff falls out, gets pounded by 50lbs. boxes of screws, and then sucked into the manglermotor box.

:slightly_smiling_face:

Alternate panels so it looks checkerboard-ish? In any case, sounds like a mess. I’ll drink a couple extra to commensurate for you.

I did read. Honest.

I wanna comment on the fried chicken conversation, 'cause it’s one of my biggest gripes.
There used to be a place here in town called Izzy’s. They had great pizza, a really good salad bar, world-class cinnamon rolls, and great fried chicken. Then somebody at corporate decided to ‘cut costs’ and started changing things. First they changed the pizza sauce to something that tasted like rotten tomatoes. Then they took away the good salads from the salad bar. Then they changed the cinnamon buns to something og-awful. Then they closed. (here, anyway). Although they still had great fried chicken, last time I bothered to go there.
They’re still around in some places, but I doubt that many people care anymore. I blame the MBAs. Idjits. :rage:

Happy Sattiday y’all.

Afternoon all. Soccer has been coached (girls U8 won again, 11-0–they are Titans; boy’s U8’s lost 2-4 but played better, as did the 13U boys while losing 0-6 (we just can’t get an offense started to keep the pressure off the defense). Legs are sore but some food from the Burger King has helped, so nappage and tackleball will occupy the afternoon. Weather was perfect, about 58F this morning warming to 75 in the afternoon and few clouds in the sky.

Mowage is on the agenda for tomorrow.

Never cared for fried chicken carryout, don’t know why, just not a chicken fancier, I guess.

Taters, sounds like a busy trip; concur that a hotel stay is probably worth it, gas and wear-n-tear on you probably makes it nearly break even. Hang in there.

Boo Fae, Rock On!

Dicey, enjoy the vacation time.

OK, need to limp to the bathroom and then consider nappage. All y’all take care.

Turns out, most of the vendors had signs that said Cash Only and there were several ATMs around the fairgrounds. But we didn’t buy anything. I gave my daughter $5 so Roxy could take a pony ride, plus there was the $10 to get in.

We’re back from the fair - couldn’t have asked for better weather. Roxy got to pet a Clydesdale’s nose and the tails of a couple of cows. She saw pigs and bunnies and roosters and sheep and goats and ducks and baby chicks. She took a pony ride and she and her mama went on the ferris wheel. Afterwards, we met up with FCD at Salsa’s for a late lunch. I’m beat - all the fresh air and walking around really done me in!

Meanwhile, SIL got rid of all of our old paint as well as a bunch of their crap. Good day all around. So it’s time to knit.

Thanks to everyone for the insurance/surgery date congrats and support. I alternate between being super excited and slightly terrified (big! permanent! changes!), but mostly I’m excited. November 1 feels like forever from now, but I know that 10/18 — the start of the liquid diet — will be here before I know it.

Taters, I hope you’re able to find some downtime this weekend!!

Thanks! They have some low-sodium bone broth K-cups that I’m going to try…why yes, I am that lazy.

That they are. I am very lucky.

Ok, you’re going to laugh, but I swear that when I lived in England (Yorkshire) I learned to speak sheep. My best friend’s family farm had lots of sheep*, and I got very good at baa-ing. Even now — 36 years after returning to the States — I can still do a pretty decent baa, though my accent isn’t as good these days.

*One spring I helped take care of the lambs that didn’t have mothers (for one reason or another): they all got gathered into a small trailer, and we tagged and bottle-fed them. A trailer full of lambs was just about the cutest thing I’d ever seen…until one of them straddled my foot and peed on my sneaker. :joy:

So apparently there is a new dog rule. I need to stay in the kitchen while he eats, but I can’t watch, I must be doing something else. If I leave the kitchen he’ll stop eating.

Breakfast was a sausage-and-cheddar omelette that puffed up like a soufflé. SWMBO made me paint the roof over the front door this morning. Before putting everything away, I hung the ratty old house sign up on the wall above Mrs. L.A.'s collection of decorations. The sign is a grey parallelogram with a cut-out buzzard in the middle, and HILLCREST on the parallelogram part. I ran a load of dishes, and put The Wife’s bin of DVDs in her canopy shed.

I’m thawing barramundi for dinner. I’ve mixed up some butter and pesto to put on it while it’s baking. Wifey just came home with some asparagus.
