The driveway is shoveled. In the time it took me to finish it, there was half an inch on the first part I shoveled. It’s getting white again. I’ll go out there in a few hours and do it again.
As soon as I post this, I’m going to put up some pics on FB, for those who are nosy.
I am pleased to say that we have sun and not snow. We’ve had two dumpings of snow, both of which wrecked my plans to visit the Doting Parent. This weekend, I really do have to get over there so I am hopeful that we won’t get any more. Some dumb weather reporter was tweeting about trilogies and that sent the tabloids into a tailspin with dire predictions of an easter white-out. Since I am off on my hollibobs on Saturday of the easter long weekend, I will not tolerate snow getting in the way of that. shakes impotent little fist
And **FCD **is home. Since I told him how I got stuck, he came in from the other street into our neighborhood and he got back here just fine. Meanwhile, no plows yet.
All righty! The plow came thru about an hour ago and I’m just back from retrieving the car after shoveling away the mess the plow deposited at the end of our drive. My hat and gloves are on the pellet stove to dry, my rain jacket is hanging on a hook to dry, and I’m wearing slippers over my slightly damp socks because **FCD **is sleeping and I don’t want to go in there and disturb him.
Oh, how I sacrifice for my sweetie!!!
Guess I could have gone to work after all. Oh well…
Sah-son got a notice from his professor that the deadline for his exam has been extended until Toosday.
That takes one worry off my mind.
He runs out of food today, I can go another week or two.
If he wasn’t such a picky eater he could go another week too.
But picky he is, and so he will be hungry or learn to eat new things.
The dog is making me crazy today.
I keep putting him outside hoping he will burn off some energy running in the snow. The snow is deep enough that he has to jump to get through it, but instead of wearing him out it seems to make him more hyper.
Snow is still falling, but it’s melting when it hits pavement - yay!
I was going to make veggie-beef soup, but **FCD **voted for N.O.T. soup. That’s a lot easier to make, so I’m good with it. I’ll do something else with the beef for tomorrow.
I spent the morning being stabbed, probed, anally invaded, had strange devices attached to me, radiated, and had some of my precious bodily fluids drained from me.
I other words, I got my annual physical.
No problems except I’m overweight (only for the last 40 years of so) and have high blood pressure, but haven’t been sick a day since my last checkup so the Dr.let me off. But I am going to get scheduled for a colonoscopy, it’s been 10 years since my first (and last) one, so I’m overdue.
No snow here, but it hasn’t broken 50F either, so still a good day for surfin’ the internets.
FCM, glad the plow didn’t damage the car any. Can’t remember if I ever got stuck while driving (if you don’t count sliding off the interstate into the median, that is).
**MetalMouse **- it was pretty funny - we looked down the road and you could see where the car had been by the swooping path the plow had to take!
We went to Cracker Barrel because *SOMEONE *wanted breakfast this afternoon. There will be no supper, which is fine by me. When we got back, I had to shovel the drive again - we got another 2"!! I wasn’t going to let FCD help, what with his back and his knee. And it didn’t take me that long.
Chillage shall ensue for the rest of the evening. Back to work tomorrow. I hope.
After I finished the race in VerminT two weeks ago I went back into the lodge & got changed into the dry clothes that I had brought with me. I rang out my (two) pairs of wool socks…twice & then sat in front of the wood burning stove to warm up for a few minutes. There was a warning sign about not putting anything on top of the stove (this is your glove / this is your (melted) glove on the stove). Without letting go of them, I put my thinner wool socks on top of it for about 3 seconds. When I lifted them up, they were steaming!
Shoveled & got some pics. Mebbe stay in & bake something, mebbe go to the park & snowshoe around, mebbe take a walk to the tavern, just to get out & about. Decisions, decisions, decisions.
Were you beamed up in a tractor beam before all of that happened?
I recall driving to work on snow many years ago. Mrs. Plant (v.1.0) was driving her Rambler. A jerk in a 4 wheel drive Jeep sped past us on the county road, and sped on straight from the curve, down the embankment. I think he made it to the parking lot of the hardware store below.
Great things, those 4 wheel drives.
**Spidey **- the top of the pellet stove is actually the lid where the pellets are added. Just below the lid is the vent opening where the warm air is blown out. This isn’t the one we have, but it’s the standard configuration. Meltage isn’t an issue.
The snow is all but done as far as I can tell. I should be able to get to work just fine.
Howdy Y’all! We went to soup 'n sammich over to the church house. ‘Twas good as was the service afterward. It’s chilly out what with the wind blowin’ and all. Glad to be in and glad to be were there is no snow. ICK!
I brought my Mauser back from the veterinarian. He had his teeth cleaned today, and they checked on his ear, that had an infection that was treated last week. He’s happy to be home, and last night I missed him.
flytrap, I’m glad you’re enjoying the 70F weather, Being that you’re south and west from Nashville, we should be getting it in a day or two.
Welcome back tugig!
I don’t know what to tell you about Louie and Scooter butters. Back when I had a mixed household, the cats realized that the dogs were big enough to get the better of them.
I was told at irk today that one of our former cycle counters had committed suicide. She had lost her job a couple of weeks ago for abscences and tardies and had recently broken up with her girlfriend. She had a hard life and was estranged from her family. She was only 26. I’ll miss discussing music and critters with her and giggling about the best ways to do blonde hair. RIP Amanda.
{{{Red}}} sad to hear about the suicide; wish she had reached out and gotten some help first.
Baker, good news on the dog? I’m afraid when I hear ‘Mauser’ my historical reading kicks in and I see this: Welcome mauser.org - BlueHost.com
flytrap, yep, 4-wheel drives have saved the lives of more idiots than we can imagine…
Me and three other guys (two with pick’em up trucks) managed to move and position 24 youth soccer goals to their proper fields, and we did it in less than an hour. They did a lot of the work (I managed…and did do some of the lifting) and I just sent a message to the AYSO Board giving them props.
Now tomorrow, I start with my 10U practices and Saturday is the first games…and that will keep me nicely occupied until the end of May.
So I’ve been wasting time on the interwebz instead of doing anything productive. No, that’s not true, I got an early start on my Mumper holiday shopping:
[ul]
[li]A violin for Nuts, maybe smaller than the one she accidentally bought. How’s the playing coming along, BTW?[/li]
[li]Something to keep Sahcatwarm.[/li]
[li]Something Swampynever has enough of.[/li]
[li]A Slushie maker for Doggio.[/li]
[li]Since Mooommm’s always running out of chocolate, she gets a big chocolate bar[/li]
[li]As for Flytrap, who we *occasionally * pick on, he gets candy, too.[/li][/ul]
I just got an email from one of my coworkers. There will be a memorial service for Amanda Saturday. The coworker said that it was being put together by a few friends and folks with whom I work. Like metal mouse, I wish she would have reached out. I only got to see her shen she was coming to work and I was leaving, but she was good people.
