I’m feeling better today, guilted into coming back to work too. Still feel a bit pale and delicate but I’m having an easy day and nothing more strenuous tonight than flicking through the tv channels in search of something mindlessly entertaining.
The snow last night was considerably worse at Moooooooooom’s house than it was at my no-tell motel, a distance of about 20 miles. I was kinda disappointed to see about 2 inches on the ground this morning.
I’s all packed up and checked out so I can go home to the VunderLair tonight after irk. I have to get my VunderWear warshed…
Happy anniversary, Taters! Here’s to 25 more years of marital [del]hell[/del]bliss.
Delayed start for me - I don’t have to be at work till 9:30. Of course, Scruffy woke me a 4:30 to go out… idiot dog. but I lounged in bed watching the news and dozing till about 7:30 when I decided it was time to shower and get moving. Just finished breakfast and chatting with my sweetie - he won’t arrive at BWI till after 10 tomorrow night, so he won’t be home till after midnight. Glad he’s not driving.
Daughter is off for today. She’s hoping to be off tomorrow also - I swear, teachers are worse than the kids when it comes to snow days! BBBobbio, I’m glad she entertained you. We find her to be a constant source of, um, stuff…
Happy 25th, Taters!!! As it happened, **BBBobbio **got to see the 25th anniversary shoe my sister gave to us. Only he and **swampy **have had the privilege of seeing her handiwork. And only he and **BusDude **have had the privilege of meeting her. Starting to sound like the 6 degrees of FCSister!
After my short work day today (just under 5 hours - yay) I have to pick up FCD’s computer, get some dessicated shrimp for his fish, get a litter box (Charley has taken to pooping in the garage) and pick up the truck. Tonight may be Bad Chinese night. Too bad you’re leaving already, BBBobbio! You coulda took us out to dinner…
Incidentally, snow at my house is really wussy - I can still see grass and leaves poking thru and the sun is shining with the temps over freezing already. I expect the driveway will melt itself. I hope so… We’ll see how bad it is across the river.
In other news, when I become Supreme Ruler Who Shall Not Be Disobeyed, there’s going to be rules about who gets to be parents and who doesn’t. Some sort of simple common sense test like: Identify which of these is your butt, and which is a hole in the ground; using both hands.
Today I have to call my son’s doctor to see about getting him in. I’m worried he just may have a hairline fracture in his wrist. A little over a week ago, he was working out with the bag at the gym. He wears the training gloves for this. Anyway, he came home saying that he hurt his wrist. Since he seemed to have range of motion, we told him to watch it and we iced it down just in case.
Anyway, over the course of the next several days I kept asking him about it, and he said it was improving. Last night, we caught him icing it down again. He said it hurt. I don’t notice any real swellilng, and he can move his fingers and make a fist, but he is having issues with the wrist itself.
So, I’ll call about getting him seen today and over to radiology. I hope they can get him in either this morning or tomorrow morning.
Never ask a Rennie what’s in their wallet. You probably don’t to know.
As for QC people, yes, I’ve bashed my head on the wall more than once with QC people that only know what’s on their checklist. They make first-tier helpdesk script-readers seem brilliant in comparison.
Dang it! I left a notebook on a table overnight and I had a pen clipped to it. The pen is gone. I’m sure a cat decided to play with it, I thought it was safe clipped to the notebook, I was wrong. It was a nice pen. sniff
Happy anniversary, Taters! Sorry for the sick baby, LiLi.
What a day… Started this morning with a 30 minute prep to a THREE AND A HALF HOUR LONG MEETING. A WebX meeting. Gah! I struggled not to fall asleep while others were doing their presentations.
Then the boss took us out to lunch to Pappadeaux Cajun Seafood. It was - to coin a phrase - yummerific! I had Tilapia LaFayette - a grilled tilapia filet with a shrimp and crabmeat sauce, with green beans and spaghetti squash. I’m stuffed!
And now I get to look forward to another meeting this afternoon. Hopefully it will only be an hour.
As soon as the kid gets her buns in gear, we’re going to pick up the truck, bring it back here, then head into Leonardtown to do some errands and have an early dinner. I intend to veg tonight, and maybe knit a bit.
I just found out that Complicated Ex moved up to Canada a full month before I was expecting. I need to send him a stern email regarding how my name is coming off that house and exactly how much time I’m giving him before I start shredding parts of his anatomy. I’m done being understanding.
**Li-Li, **I will be 47 this May. Jeebus! Where did the time go? I’m sorry little Thomas is sick.
Ann, I had my tubes snipped, cauterized and pushed away from each other three months after my son was born. We are done producing kids. One has been out of the house for a year, and my youngest is finishing high school this June and will be off to college.
It appears that my son has not broken his wrist, but we are awaiting confirmation from the radiologist. In the meantime, he has to wear a splint for a week. If it still hurts in a week, we have to go back.
That’s the problem with the wrist; there’s all those little tiny bones and sometimes it can be hard to spot a break.
Back from erranding and early dining. We did everything on our list and I just finished feeding the critters, so I can chill this evening. Yay!
**FCD **just called - he may not be able to leave tomorrow - they weren’t able to test their equipment on the UAV. If they can’t fly tomorrow, I don’t know what’s going to happen, but he’s not a happy camper. Poor baby.
Can’t believe I have yet another work day - it should be Firday already, dagnabbit!
