Mom and Dad forbade us jumping on beds, but my sister didn’t mind my jumping on hers and never told on me. “Tokyo Tower” is fun to say. So is “Tacoma Dome.”
Hippie sending hugs. It’s hard to know what to say about things like this. I imagine she was in a lot of pain, but it’s a tragedy when someone can’t get the help they need to navigate life.
sari I’m glad you got Echo back safely. One of my dogs will come if he’s lose, but Akiko likes to run around and laugh at us. The one time I did end up going inside (I didn’t know she was out), she came right up to the door and waited to be let in. I never trust that she’ll do that consistently though. Scamp.
BooFae enjoy your alone time.
Moomm I’m glad the journey is almost at an end. Now you “just” have to unpack.
Happy Friday to those that celebrate.
There’s my FUBAR! They piled everything on me late, and at once, nobody picked up the misssorts, I had to return the daily White Rack of HopelessnessTM, and I seemed to have lost my Irish flat cap(my daily hat). On the brighter side, Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” came on the radio, which always reminds me of the mall zombie shootout in Night of The Comet
“Daddy would have gotten us Uzis.” - Sam
Safe travels, Moooommmm! At least now when FIL trys to trim his nose hairs with a circular saw, you have a quicker drive.
First part is every beagle I’ve owned. the second? Not so much. Glad you caught her.
I do not. But I got Biscuitville, Bojangles, and Waffle House, so I’ll cop.
We need a weed smilie. Or a Snoop smilie.
Sorry about the neighbor, hippie.
I have her “Buy This, Pigs!” LP.
Can I second this? The PNW needs a lot of rain.
We were supposed to get rain tomorrow and it has also disappeared from the forecast. But we’re at least green.
Hippie, even with the lights on, 5am is a bit early. Sorry about your neighbor.
Today was the first time we got home after official sunset. We’re losing daylight fast. Only three more weeks, and then we get a day off again - sometimes it’s really nice to get the strange Catholic holidays.
We’re replacing 4 windows, and we got 3 quotes for the venetian blinds on the outside of the windows. They have to be removed before the windows are replaced, and then installed again afterwards. So complicated. I think if there was a similar thing in the U.S., it would be done all by one company. But the Swiss like to specialize. It makes any home improvement project a lot more complicated.
At least we don’t have the same problem as our neighbor. She has to get yet another specialist, because the drainpipe has to be moved. And we might have to get someone in to drill a hole in the masonry. Did I mention complications?
My laptop’s fan is going crazy. Seems to be because of the automatic backup. Fun, fun, fun.
I prefer “Tacoma Aroma”. And “Perth Amboy” (with a nod to James Thurber.)
Man, I love autumn in the Mitten State. Everyone b!^&%ing about, “Oh, it’s getting cold!” maybe not so much. But the leaves are gorgeous, the flies (a.k.a. Sky Raisins) have eased up, and Coolio gets his yearly rest while the heavy quilts start piling onto the bed.
Please never leave us. I love your quips.
After a close call with two (!) bunnies who were hanging out in the driveway this morning, Bailey’s bordatella vaccination went off without a hitch: neither of us had to get out of the car! My vet still has a “call when you arrive and then wait in your vehicle” protocol in place, and when the tech came out she offered to bring the nasal spray thingie to us vs making Bailey go into the building. I never even turned the car off, I just rolled the passenger window down and tried to hold the doggy still. Most of the vaccine made it up her nose, though some wound up spraying on me. Now I can stay at a kennel if I need to. We were out of the house for maybe 30 min total.
It’s another beautiful day (currently 2pm, sunny, and 76°F), and I had another lunch outside on the patio. Even though I don’t go far and usually only take a 30-45 minute break, it’s always nice to step away from the home office and do some reading in the sunshine while Bailey does doggy things in the back yard. An outdoor heater is definitely not worth it, but I’m hoping that a fleece/jacket and some warm slippers will let me keep enjoying patio lunch breaks through the early part of autumn.
I’m still planning to quit work in about an hour and head to the mall. There’s a really good one super close to home, so even though I’ve never been much of a mall person it isn’t a big ordeal to go when I need/want something. I just typed “I hope it won’t be too busy on a Friday late afternoon/early evening,” and realized that my hope is actually about parking being easy to find…I don’t care how many people are around, just their vehicles!
Oh, THAT explains the disturbance in the force that I noticed…
(Let’s Go, Yankees!!! )
Ugh.
If I didn’t already love you, I would love you for not typing “Sterling.”
I feel this way about all of you.
I’m still here. Dragging ass, but hanging in.
Enjoying needing to switch the thermostat to furnace from a/c. I know I’ll have to switch back in a few days for the dog days of autumn but I’ll revel in the crisp fall air til then. Fall is always my favorite season (even though it’s the worst season for my allergies) because it represents going back to school and I dearly loved school (and the teachers that were literally my saving grace~must be why nellie is so dear).

Oh, THAT explains the disturbance in the force that I noticed…

I think you misspelled Dodgers!

I think you misspelled Dodgers!
Obviously.

“Daddy would have gotten us Uzis.” - Sam
I love that movie! And Sam isn’t wrong - the Mac-10 jams like crazy.
We’re a;; home safe at last. FCD is taking his folks to get their keys. I’m prepping their beds. Supper will be delivered. I’ll read and attempt more coherent comments later.
MWAH! There’s no place like home!!
I must say I’m very impressed with FairyChatFamilyfor the way you all organized the logistics of moving reticent elders into a new home with military precision! Kudos and congratulations on a successful maneuver.
Thanks, but it ain’t over yet. Tomorrow, we unload the truck into the apartment. Thankfully, the weather is supposed to be cool, so it shouldn’t be too sweaty…

“Tacoma Dome.”
Doot-dooo doo-doo-doo…
A giant, and I mean giant, fly got in the house. It would not land and sounded like a buzz saw. I chased it around with Raid, randomly squirting. I finally slid back the window and it landed on the screen. I think it took half a can to kill it and I haven’t found the carcass.
@FairyChatMom
I am glad you are all home safe
Still, spectacular work!
Howdy Y’all! We got shorn and then were bears who brunch. I had the coastal crab cake Benedict, which is two crab cakes stacked on toasted garlic bread with poached eggs, Hollandaise sauce, and a dash of Old Bay seasoning along with fresh fruit, (strawberries, blue berries, cantaloupe (ain’t got a ladder!), and honeydew melon to be exact.) OYKW had the Homestead Platter which is, two eggs (he got 'em N.O.S.side up), four slices of bacon, four pieces of sausage and a biscuit with a side of sausage gravy. Needless to say we were stuffded after all that. Nappage was the first order of business upon arrival at da cave.
Hippie so sorry about your neighbor. Helluva thing to learn at five a.m.
MOOOOOOM glad y’all made it safe and sound. I take it tomorrow is move in day.
WetOne glad you were able to subdue the giant sky raisin.
Oopsie did the bunnies have sharp pointy teeth of death?
BooFae enjoy your alone time.
Evening all. Got the swimmin-n-sauna done early, so gassed up car (still need to put air in tires, but I didn’t have $2 in quarters and I really don’t like using my credit card for small change like that) and paid the electric bill. Also got some nappage in and then went to the park to make sure everyone had gotten the word that there was no practice (they had, but I’m a bit anal in regards to making sure nobody shows up when I cancel something).
There is a large group (or gaggle) of geese at the park, and they all (about 30 or so) decided to move from their pond to the side of the hill for reasons known only to geese. However, the road runs between the two spots, so guess where they decided to stop and decide if they wanted to continue or not? Found that with patience and determination you can herd geese with an SUV, and a few others did the same, but they would not vacate the road until all the cars had gone. And of course after 10 minutes at the new place they all took wing for somewhere else. Geese is weird.
FCM, glad you are home. Now comes the real work…hang in there.
wet one, I’ve had the same thing now and then. Stunk out my computer room trying to spray it, finally got the (^^&^ and like you, the carcass seems to have disappeared (zombie houseflies?)
Oopsie, glad Bailey got her dose and your patio lunch sounds great.
Dicey, yeah, the more specialists, the more coordination and cost (IMHO). Hope it all works out well.
doggio, looked up Biscuitville (I often look up restaurants MMP’ers mention that I’ve never heard of). Looks like unless I get back to North Carolina I’ll have to do without.
Sari, Adam must enjoy in some strange way having his head chewed on, since he seems to encourage things that get him chewed. And yeah, my greatest fear in driving, especially with schools near me, is a kid doing something stupid and me be a second late. I remember doing something like that kid did when I was 6-7 years old and it scared the he-double toothpicks out of me. Hopefully the kid will learn (and live) like I did.
Taters, I write myself a note to take the garbage out, sometimes it’s 9pm before I do, but if it’s written down somewhere I do it. Too bad Husband-unit can’t be trained…
nellie, can’t remember jumping on the bed, although I probably did it in my youth. At 273 lbs now, it would probably be inadvisable…
OK, need to fix some dinner and get to bed fairly early, soccer starts at 8:30am and goes to 2pm tomorrow, so that’ll be my exercise. All y’all take care.
Just finished a half a rib-eye, and an ear of corn cooked on the barbie. The Missus is still working on hers. (She didn’t cut her steak in half.)
and so it continues
I can’t find my winter coat and I think I may have donated it.
I ordered a new one from da jungle
I was supposed to get it today. I got another package today that wasn’t supposed to be here until next week. That is cool.
Then I got the notice that my coat has been delivered.
My son brings in two packages, neither of which is big enough to be a coat.
One is another item, which according to da jungle hasn’t been shipped yet, and another tiny package.
I got one pair of men’s underwear.
The package is a mess, and covered in labels. I think what may have happened is the label for my coat wasn’t applied correctly and got stuck to this package.
So, somebody out there is in need of underwear, and my coat is probably riding around in the truck without a label.
I applied for a refund and I don’t have to return the underwear. I tried pulling off the label with my name on it to see what is underneath, but all that does is tear the labels and the bag.
but as usual
nothing goes the way it should
Irk is more irksome than usual.
I almost quit today, which of course is stupid because I do need to pay a mortgage and eat.
I also know my temper is a bit shorter because of everything else going on.
My son takes the trash out around here, and if he forgets, I will get him out of bed to do it.
Mom doesn’t do trash anymore.
Well, not exactly true, I do all the inside trash/recycle collecting and get everything together to go out.
He takes it out.
Geese can be awful, although I think they are mostly gone now.
They are all over the place where my son irks, and sometimes they will stand in the road and not let anybody through.
I’ve thought about letting my dogs out to run them off, but I’m afraid somebody will speed through and hit one of them.
I think Ripple and Echo would have great fun chasing them.
Glad you made it safely home FCM
I’m sure you will be happy once everything is set up and life can kind of go back to normal.
Plans are made to go to the armpit Sunday.
Niece1 sent me a picture, they are really irking on cleaning out the house.
Either my sister stopped trying to stop them from getting rid of stuff or my nieces are just doing it without caring what she wants. Honestly, I don’t know what is wrong with my sister when it comes to not wanting to get rid of my mother’s clothes. The only person tiny enough to fit into them is Niece2. She’s 40, looks like she’s in her 20s, and is not going to wear grandma clothes.
I hope this is the last trip to pick up stuff. I hate the drive down there.
