It's Time For A New MMP

I tried to buy a raffle ticket last night, to win a 1969 Cessna 150K (valued at $30) or $20K cash; but my card was declined. This morning I had a message on my phone questioning the attempted purchase and telling me my card was locked. I got that sorted out. Turned out my auto-fill had the wrong expiry date last night.

So the failure to compete the purchase: Was it a sign that I’m not going to win the aircraft? Or was it a sign that last night was not the time to win the aircraft, and the delay allowed me to buy the winning ticket? To buy, or not to buy?

What the hell. I bought a ticket.

If you go for the commercial ones, they are designed with fast food workers in mind. While fast food workers probably don’t chew on them, they also don’t show much care going through them.

I’m so sorry things keep piling up on you, you sure do need a break. Is there any way you can take a vacation and just go away for a few days?

FCM I am so glad this is almost over for you. I get exhausted reading the MMP anymore, everyone is so busy!

Yesterday I noticed that the spare bed had a couple of places that were pretty black with cat hair, so I pulled the spread off the bed to wash. The blanket had cat hair, so I washed that as well. The cat hair had managed to get all the way to the bottom sheet, this all happened the two and a half months since Mom was here last, they are talented cats!

After the bed was put back together and the pillows fluffed, VBC jumped up on the bed and puked right in the middle of it to show her displeasure.

Yesterday i spent a couple of hours stitching and when my hands started hurting I remembered to take Tylenol and use heat which helped enough that I could keep stitching for a couple more hours before bed. My compression gloves arrived, proved to be too small and are in the process of being exchanged. I think they will help if only for the heat.

Glued on the cute lashes, cuz Late Night and probably on register. Have a cardigan packed, am wearing a long-sleeved for under the polo. Ordered a bit of sushi to pick up on the way, b.c I saw someone else had sushi in the walk-in the other day and, basically, monkey see, monkey want.

Speaking of monkeys, mine just hopped into my lap and curled up all cute & cozy. Dude. I gotta go work for the next shitload hours, stop being all cute, and rubbing my nose into your leisure.

Cats. The original Retired Farts.

I spent part of yesterday evening looking for my friend’s cat, which made a break for it when she wasn’t quite fast enough in closing the door. She’s understandably very upset. I looked around today, too, but that kitty has left the city, apparently. Hopefully he’s OK and will find his way home soon.

My sister called. She’s sad about Judy Tenuta. As I mentioned, they were friends in high school and sat together on the bus every day. She said Judy was always very pretty, even freshman year when many kids are still in the awkward stage, and she made the girls (It was an all-girl high school.) laugh so hard, they could barely breathe. It was ironic that she was the most famous person to graduate from that school, as I don’t think the nuns would have approved of some of her jokes. What a loss.

That’s so sweet of you, but we’re all pretty witty. I think doggio has the crown, and deservedly so. I don’t even aspire to his level.

Re: flies, I swat 'em if they land long enough. When they zip too fast and don’t land, I hit 'em with some hairspray mid-flight, which temporarily slows or stops them, and then I swat.

{{{{sari}}}}

flyboy, I hope your ticket is the winner!

JtC: your cat has a wicked sense of humor. I hope you get the right size of compression gloves soon and that they help.

Howdy Y’all! We have homemade pound cake, plus macerated strawberries, plus for real whipped cream. OYKW made the pound cake. We had the strawberries in da freezer. I put on real clothes and zipped down to the burly butcher sto’ (the place near da cave with the really good meats cause of burly butcher) and bought some whippin’ cream. YUM! Thus far we have had only one piece each, but that shall change shortly.

Howdy y’all,

So Dad passed just over two weeks ago, much to everyone’s (including his) relief. He was suffering and wanted to go.

He was buried next to Mom yesterday in the company of myself, my sister and her husband. No funeral. We’ll have a family gathering sometime in the spring, a nice barbecue.

It’s interesting that when asked this last week how we’re doing we truthfully have been saying while being emotional we’re not upset. We’re actually pretty proud we kept him in his home for the last year as dementia took over, to the point that he passed only 3 days after he left to hospice.

So we’re moving along. My sister is the executor of the estate. I told her I believe we should just hire a lawyer to do it, she’s worn out from taking care of Dad and needs a break. I don’t care what the lawyer will cost. It it should be very straight forward, he had a clear cut will and it’s just me & her so there’s nothing complicated about it.

That’s the news from this household. Hope everyone here is well.

That’s so sweet of you, but we’re all pretty witty. I think doggio has the crown, and deservedly so. I don’t even aspire to his level.

I think swampy has his moments too. Bless his heart…

We went to Blaine for the Oyster Festival, and the line was a block long. We parked and just went to the Black Forest Steak House, which had a sign saying they were open. We were offered a couple of oyster shooters immediately, and we said ‘Yes, please.’ We had drinks and wanted to order four more shooters, but that’s not how it worked. See, the paper said everyone was selling oysters for $2. What it didn’t say was that you had to stand in the long line to get tickets. So we each had a drink and an oyster. After the Spousal Unit bought some expensive truffles from a gift shop, we came home and I made oyster po’boys for a late lunch. Mrs. L.A. said she likes my oysters the best. I told her to vote for me. :stuck_out_tongue:

Howdy all. Soccer has been coached and refereed and the Guardians (I still think of them as the Indians) won, so it has been a pretty full day. Irradiated some noodles (frozen Fettuchini Alfredo dinner) for the evening meal, which is now happily assimilating in my belly. Planning tomorrow for mowage, dishwashing, exercise, and Dining at Red Robin (Yum!). It’s supposed to get to 38F tonight, so won’t be doing the mowing first thing.

Sari, add some {{{hugs}}} from me, sounds like Barky/Humpy Mom is bringing things to a head. Hope things work out.

shoe, pleasant dreams tonight, and sleep in late (if you read this before 9am tomorrow, you’re not listening)…

Taters, took my old brown jacket with me to the soccer fields today, first usage this Fall. It’s a nondescript, brownish, London Fog lightweight jacket and it doesn’t even fit that great (sleeves are too long), but I’ve had it over 20 years and it just seems to be there when I need it. Usually good until the temperature gets below 40F.

Dicey, you can send some of that rain my way, haven’t seen a drop in nearly 3 weeks now.

FCM, whenever you return, hope the move went well and you can sleep in tomorrow.

OK, need to get dishes to the proper places and do a little more internettin’, so all y’all take care.

nellie, cat may be back in a day or so…clever little buggers…

2gig, I am sorry for your loss, but I understand what you mean…there wasn’t much left of the man I knew as Dad when he passed, you and sis did well by him.

That would be quite a bargain, a plane for $30… . And I would have bought a ticket too.

Boofae, those poor starving kitties… Enjoy your time alone.

DOH! $30K.

Sorry for your loss 2Gig. It’s HARD to lose parents no matter the circumstances.

Had the garage door Man out this AM and he relieved me of a nice tidy sum but the door works now. Springs or something another. Sonny boy cleaned the gutters and future DIL tiled up and prepared the garden spot for winter crops in the next week or so. Me, well I laid on the couch and watched The Crown in anticipation of a new season coming in Nov. I fell asleep, woke and moved to the bed until I was summoned for dinner of filet mignonette, bacon wrapped spareguts and taters.
Now the happy couple are having a spat of some sort so they can take that somewhere else.

Dem’s fightin’ words! Fusion crabcakes??? How dare they!!!

{{{tugig}}} - I think we’re a short ways behind you. FIL is gradually slipping away mentally. When he’s really tired, he gets nasty to MIL. It will be a relief to all when he finally lies down for the last time. In a lot of ways, we’ve already lost him. Dementia sucks!!!

We got all the apartment crap moved from the truck to the apartment. Daughter and SIL were HUGE helps! I unpacked some of the kitchen stuff and helped MIL with the bags of stuff she’s packed. We’ll go back tomorrow and help them put as much away as we can. And I think tomorrow, they’ll actually stay there. Tonight, they’re here.

I did change of address on line for them. We had leftovers for supper. FCD and I are exhausted - I’ll shower shortly, then crash early. Tomorrow morning, daughter and SIL are coming to move the shop equipment into FCD’s shop. I’ll wrangle the kids. Then FCD will return the truck and we’ll head back to the apartment to help with more setup, including getting the router/internet working. I may also have to take MIL grocery shopping for some basics. Then, I hope, we’ll be able to resume our own lives. Maybe.

This has been a week…

2gig My condolences on the loss of your father. :people_hugging:

White tailed cat showed up on the porch today. We haven’t seen her in ages. The white part of the tail is gone, so somebody took her to the vet. My son said she didn’t have a collar on, but she looks like she is eating well.
We put food out for her anyway.

My son found the leak, at a joint, and looked it up. It’s the outgoing pipe and it sounds like it might be clogged. I haven’t flushed the stuff to kill tree roots in a while, it’s overdue. The pipe only leaks when we take a bath or shower, I guess that is too much water all at once or something.
Anyway, Ill flush the stuff tomorrow before we leave.
Or maybe I’ll flush it tonight before I go to bed. I think you are supposed to let it sit for a while before using water.
That just seems like too easy of a fix though.

I’m sorry about your dad {{{2gig}}}
Demetia does suck.

In other irritations today
I got a letter from the irs saying I owe them money. I have until Dec31 to pay it, so they can wait.
They can also bite my ass, I’ve had quite enough of their bullshit.

and minor thing I know…
Those of you who have been around know how I feel about aarp.
I got my first letter from them on my 50th birthday, which pissed me off.
I ignored them for a while, but they are persistent and don’t take no for an answer.
They promised to take me off their mailing list and that irked for a while.
Then the barrage started again, and once again they promised to take me off their mailing list and so it was quiet for a while.
Then it really started, with getting 2 to 3 envelopes from them each week. Not little envelopes, but giant envelopes filled with all kinds of crap.
Once again, I requested to be taken off their mailing list and was promised they would.
Then they started sending me BILLS.

By then, I was livid. Livid enough to contact the AG? in Ca and register a complaint. I got a letter back from the AG and an apology from aarp. I was assured that I would never receive anything from them again.
It’s been a few years.

Guess what I got today?

It’s funny because my friend’s daughter just turned 50 and got her first letter. My friend and I were just talking about it yesterday. She and her granddaughter were debating who would hand her the letter. My friend decided her grandson could do it, as she and the granddaughter don’t want to deal with the fallout.
I think it is very intrusive to send letters like that out on people’s birthdays.

I wish I could take a vacation JtC, but I don’t know where I’d go. I don’t know if I could relax thinking about everything that still needs to be dealt with.
What I really need is another week off irk and to get more stuff done around here. It would be even better if my son took off too, so I don’t have to drive him to irk.
He has missed so much time this year, all legit. First when he had pneumonia, then the layoff (which he still hasn’t gotten his unemployment), then my mother’s funeral. Then a day off when the check engine light came on.
He should be getting a notice soon of how much vacation he has to take before the end of the year.

TIL that the kid who played ‘Bobby’ in The Day the Earth Stood Still also played ‘Dullard’ in Porklips Now (1980).

Heaving went well, byt She-Hulk ain’t getting his ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY SIX POUND BARBELL today. After work I went to BottleMixx for their 10th anniversary. I missed the first tasting, but it was just a cople of Yinzers swilling IPAs. I got to try a Holey Spokes vanilla habenero porter, and Sidra Del Diablo vanilla habenero cider(my brain kept saying “Atomic Fireball”? on that one). And N.C. State wins somehow. :football:

{{{{{Tugig}}}}}, I’m so sorry.

Tonight was quiet (… a little … too quiet { ominous music } LOL) but that was fine by me after the madness of last night. Outta there right at 2 am, which isn’t, uh, 2 bad.

What the hell were they invoicing you for?

And that idiot Ziva woke me around 3:30, banging against the bedroom door and yowling… at 4, I gave up trying to sleep and reached for my tablet. Maybe I can doze off in a few.

It’s 37 ridiculous degrees at the moment. Not impressed am I. But it’s supposed to warm a bit later this week.

Today’s plan is to finish unpacking and setting up the apartment. The dining table is set up, so I’ll take boxes there as I work since the small galley kitchen will be cramped. FCD is going to set up their cable and internet. Daughter may come over after she dumps the grands with her MIL.

Speaking of Tobias, he’s getting braver with taking steps. He’s almost officially a toddler! I’m doomed!

OMG - THE FURNACE JUST KICKED ON!

Always exciting at FairyChatEstates! Happy Sunday!

Aaaaand it’s 5:30. The critters have been tended and the cats’ kibbles dispenser is refilled. The dishwasher is emptied. The coffee maker is ready to make coffee for the inlaws. The pellet stove is fired up, and I’m having breakfast. No, I didn’t fall back to sleep.

I truly hope they leave today. I am soooooo in-law’d out! I’m tired of hearing the “conversations” that mostly seem to consist of “huh?” “What?” and “What did you say?” It’s gotten to where I want to shake MIL - not only is she making totally unqualified decisions about FIL’s meds - she’s skipping her own doses for… reasons?? It’s bad. And my patience is just about gone. I need a break. I need them in their own place. And I need a foot rub! My shoes aren’t giving me the support I need and my tootsies ache. Woe!!!

End of rant. For now.

After we finish helping them this afternoon, I need to get milk and bread and eggs - sounds like a stop at Aldi is in order on the way home. I can’t plan beyond that. Just dreaming of my life resuming normalcy soon.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 52 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 82 and N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization, where I have Verger duty. After that we shall come back to da cave for a sammich N.O.L., nappage, and general overall sloth. I shall put the poke tenderloin in the slow cooker in a bit and let it hang out in there and cook. Sup shall be that, succotash, rice, and rolls. Plus pound cake!

{{{Gigity}}} so sorry about your dad. Dementia does well and truly suck. Went through that with my father so I know what it’s like. Still, it’s tough to lose a parent.

sari hope the leaky pipe is a quick fix. You need a break. AARP has finally left me alone. They need to leave you alone, as well.

shoe yay for a relatively quiet night at irk.

MOOOOOOM Hope the inlaws get settled in their new digs today so you can have peace and quiet at FairyChatEstate. Og knows y’all deserve that! Also, Go Tobester!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I shall get the poke tenderloin goin’ and commence purtification for deheathenization.

Happy Sunday Y’all!
