At the specific complex, it’s a couple of years, tho it could vary either way. For now, tho, he has a place to live and his folks can use his help.
I had to walk to the store to pick up an Rx, which delayed cookie baking. The first batch just came out of the oven. I’m also going to make her a comforting casserole. I spent way too long this morning trying to walk her via text message through changing her address on NextDoor so she can do a lost pet post there. Turns out she’d never signed up. Fortunately, that’s easy.
WetOne, next time I make 'em, I’ll try to measure everything. Right now, a lot of it is a handful here and a pinch there.
sari, maybe put a note on your door saying every time someone leaves literature for _____, you’ll donate to his opponent.
JtC, those are great suggestions! I’ll pass 'em along. Thanks much.
Boo, happy grands!
I forgot this morning
probably because I never finish a post in one sitting
When Adam got out right after I got him, I put a little canned food on a plate and microwaved it for 10 seconds. I set the plate outside. It didn’t take long, and of course every other outdoor cat in the hood came by as well.
It was also suggested to put the litter box outside, they can smell their own toilet and find their way home.
Cleaned. Watched bad pro handegg. Time for a Vieux Carré and starting the poke loin.
And paid off a year early. Now I’ll have more money for booze!
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, had sammiches, napped (a looooooooooong nap) and then sup got cooked and et. The kitched is cleanded up and the biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Tomorrow is not a holiday for trash pickup. Outside of the federal and stage gummit, I don’t think anybody takes tomorrow as a holiday. I am not even real sure what the holiday is. Perhaps First Presidential Fart In The White House Day?
Honeys…I’m ho-o-o-ome!
The trip went well and Dad really loved our little party. I’m glad to be home though.
Read most in dribs and drabs, but retained little, so yays, boos, trouts, noogies and hugs to be applied as needed. I’s tah-red and will hit the hay once the dryer stops and I walk Nelson.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Mrs. L.A. bought a tuna steak from the local Indian fish store. She thawed it, and it was stinky so she threw it away. $30 down the drain.
I made Caprese salads and Chicken Cordon Bleu. I usually make my own version with chicken thighs, ham, and Swiss cheese. Tonight I used the traditional chicken breast, prosciutto, and Gruyere. The Missus said it was good. Instead of leaving her last slice for me or Goo, or throwing it away, she saved it. So I guess it was OK.
Wranging the DMV website to get DH’s driver’s license renewal (we’re upgrading him to RealID on this trip). Fun fun fun.
Thank you, I did. Hattie greeted me with some printing and a drawing she had been working on~it said “I like mi [sic] Grandma”, then a drawing of “Grandma oxicttatr” [Grandma oxygen concentrator], with a pretty accurate drawing of it, including the 1-2-3 buttons, the off button labeled ‘off’, with the tubing and nasal prongs drawn quite accurately. You got to love a kindergartener who will fearlessly sound out ‘oxygen concentrator’ before Grandma even gets there with it, drawing from memory.
I taught her O2 for the future (why should chemistry majors have all the fun?).
SIL got to abscond to Omaha for the first practice of his curling team’s season, Grandma wrangled kidlets while my daughter got her Halloween decorations up, which she really enjoys. Her husband teases her about it but I think he’d best be careful since he is reliant on her goodwill to be released from husband and father duties to drive 120 miles round trip every Sunday to slide a 44lb rock around on ice with a broom.
They’re sometimes labeled “chicken paws” which is … amusing.
If they’re close enough to civilization to be at a hospital, they gotta be near a Wal-Mart.
Tomorrow’s a holiday?
That’s pretty amazing! What a smart child - it must be amazing to watch her learn & grow up.
There was an envelope for me when I was heading out to work. I haven’t opened it yet, but I’m 99% sure I know what’s inside. I’m so excited to see the new threads! Thank you @JaneDoe42 so much!
… so I’m savoring the anticipation, and also, I wanna see them in sunlight, as I doubt my lamps will do them justice.
Plus, tomorrow’s my Blessed Day Off and what better way to celebrate than to play with new, fun thread?
PLUS I finally bought myself a treat (black Aida fabric, which is what you typically cross-stitch onto) and I bet these are gonna POP against black, so how excited am I?!?
There is no doubt a local pharmacy or two that will dispense their meds in a pill planner (labeled to low vision). The trick is to find out which local pharmacy that is. Parkinson’s is a disease that needs very timely medicating to minimize the dementia and rigidity, etc., more so than almost any other. The last thing he needs is free lance amateur med juggling~now all you have to do is convince MIL that in her efforts to make things better by monkeying around with dosages and timing she is NO DOUBT making it worse rather than better. Easy for me to say but that’s 41+ years of experience in home health nursing talking. I’ve seen it hundreds of times.
Consider getting them connected with the local Area Agency On Aging. They will have a raft of services and resources to help keep them in their apt and out of assisted living or a nursing home. Building a relationship with that agency for your county before they need more services, it will go better. Even just meals on wheels to start off with. A hot nutritious meal delivered once a day (plus somebody laying eyes on them once a day).
Okay, I peeked. What I saw made my eyes go wide. The stuff is gonna look spectacular in decent sunlight, and … much later … against black cloth.
Evening all. Ate a Red Robin (Yum!) and had my monthly beer with the food (of course doggio and other folks may disagree that Coors Light is really a beer, but I like it). Then did a little shopping and came home. Sloth has since prevailed and I’ll be heading off to bed in a short while.
JtC, you done a good thing in making shoe happy. Looking forward to pictures sometime in the future.
BBBoo, sounds like good advice for the Fairy Chat’s; hope they can get the elders to accept it. And quite the precocious grand-daughter; wish you could have gotten a picture of the drawing.
OK, have a good night/good morning and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.
I am happy to announce my friend’s cat has been FOUND! Yaaay! He was tangled in a bush where he’d been hiding. He’s home now. I"m relieved. I’m sure I got some weird looks walking around and calling, “Houdini!” (Yes, the irony!)
Speaking of cats, son and DIL met one today, and he couldn’t stop talking about how sweet and handsome it was. With three dogs, they’re not in the cat market, but you’d never know it.
Son called and we had a long chat. Daughter texted to say she’ll call tomorrow. So my son won the race this week. My kids get along so well, I have to work to try to instill some sibling rivalry. Kids these days…
I was just talking about chicken feet with my Jamaican friend the other day. My Vietnamese friend used to talk about them all the time. I gather they make rich soup broth, and if you don’t know what you’re eating, they’re delicious.
Red, glad you’re home safe and sound and that the party went well.
(Shh! I do, too!)
Boo, that is one bright granddaughter you have there! I love that she said she likes you. When my kids were small, I’d tell them I loved them AND I liked them. After all, your mom has to love you, but if she LIKES you, that really means something! Anyway, I’m a Harriet fan.
shoe, so happy you got such a marvelous gift! That Jane the Cane is something else!
There are big rewards for being thrifty! Not to mention that you can buy new Gordie and Alex beds with the interest you won’t be paying.
Welcome back, I’m glad you had a good trip and that your Dad was made happy.
She can probably take the package back and get a refund. I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t want the stinky fish back.
I’m pretty sure if she goes back with the label and her receipt she will be able to get a refund.
That’s adorable. I’m guessing she is going to grow up to be an engineer.
I had no idea curling irons were that heavy.
When hubs was in the hospital after his heart surgery, I ate in the cafeteria the entire time because I didn’t want to be gone long enough to go across the street for a meal. Brain surgery would keep me in the same room, willing him to keep breathing. I know, pretty stupid, but I would do it despite knowing how stupid I was being.
I am so happy! I tried to pick the warm colors I knew you liked, the small blue card was just because I’m a bitch and felt you needed some Satan’s Pubic Hair all of your own. A strand of that shit will fray and tangle just sitting on your table but OMG, it is SO pretty when you can convince it to cooperate.
There is almost nothing that makes a hobbyist happier than to inspire another hobbyist. I’m getting happyz by proxy.
Y’all put me in such a good mood tonight (well, that and finding out I was into overtime before my shift started, which puts me into CHA-CHING! territory) that I fixed myself a decent amount of food and enjoyed a pic-a-nic dinner.
Someone upthread mentioned chicken cordon bleu and that put me in the mood, and I had some in the freezer. Not the “good” kind, pretty cheapo brand, but still filling and tasty.
I put on Monkey’s jingle-bell collar, and went outside to look at the big, bright full moon & Jupiter shining nearby, both so bright you could barely see any stars. Monkey was treated to a rare treat: nighttime outside time. He mostly stuck close by while I marveled at the moon, and snacked on garlic cloves & Triscuits while awaiting dinner.
Of course, dessert first (a tapioca cup) plus more Triscuits with cream cheese spread, plus some random slices of prosciutto that really needed to be eaten up.
It was lovely to sit outside in a sweater and silence, in moonlight so bright I could read by it, stretching my legs and filling my belly (two things I really need to do more!) and just enjoying the contentment.
That’s marvelous news!
Sitting in my driveway yelling, “Monkey! Monnnnnkeyyyyy!!” probably makes me look a bit nutz, too.
I would have thought that doing it while wearing a jingle-bell collar would have removed any question about your sanity.
I sure hope your night goes as well as last night did! Sleep until you wake up, you deserve it! I’m vicariously looking forward to your pleasure tomorrow. I can still remember the first time I handled embroidery ribbons, it was so much fun.
Hurray for the return of the prodigal kitty, hopefully he has learned his lesson.
Blushes, thanks but every stitcher has left over floss (thread) and fabric. I recently unearthed a skein of gold thread I bought before I met hubs. It felt so nice in my hands I couldn’t not buy it despite the part where I hate doing surface work.
If it makes you feel any better, my aunt had a cat named Whiskey. Imagine calling that name out your front door.
ha! I have everyone beat …My stepdad had a rather onery kitten he named “satan” now the neighbor lady was a devout Mormon … the asshole husband come to find out not so much … but imagine hearing someone trying bo be quiet saying "hear satan come home "
I had to show her the rotten lil monster after I caught him furry butt …
