Today’s News Update
It looks like travel plans are coming together for the Dopefest. Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor Train 86 will be the party train, making stops in Richmond (leaving 8:25 a.m.), Washington (leaving 11:05 a.m.), New York (arriving 2:15 p.m.) and points in between. Hamadryad, Silo, OpalCat, Undead Dude and Nicky are likely to be aboard, and other dopers coming from south of New York are welcome to join them.
Elsewhere in the Mid-Atlantic region, Nacho4Sara is leaving the driving from Baltimore to Greyhound. Requested poster quietgirldownthehall still has not been heard from, but we’d all love to have her up from Delaware (even if we don’t believe the state exists).
From the north, andygirl looks like she’ll be coming down from Dartmouth, but SwimmingRiddles may be sidelined with Impetigo. Eutychus55 claims he can’t attend, but we’re trying to Shanghai him into turning this into a long cigarette run.
Unfortunately, Cajun Man and DrMatrix will be unable to attend because of family matters. We’ll be thinking of you, guys.
Smackfu will be doing the museum tour, but is a maybe for the dinner. Jb_farley is looking for a place to stay, and if he gets one, he may bless us with his presence.
Sunday Post-Dopefest Open House Bagel Brunch
On Sunday after the Dopefest, my sister Green Bean and I will be hosting a bagel brunch open house at my apartment on West 72nd Street. We’ll be having people over from 11 a.m. to about 2 or so. If you are interested, please e-mail me and I’ll send you my address (and get an idea who’s coming so I can plan). I may ask you to kick in a few bucks for the cost of the event.
In addition, OpalCat and her family may be taking a trip to the nearby Central Park Zoo. Stay tuned for details on this if it comes together.

Wherever goes Swiddles, so goes my nation… The carpool will work if she’s feeling better, but if she’s not able to go, you’ll have to raise a glass to honor me. Which is one of those c’est la vie things.

I will be attending the Tour, and I would love to attend the Brunch. Zoo sounds like fun, depending on how many icicles I can hang off my nose at the time (none being optimum).
I will be in Port Authority that morning/noon getting my own pair of tickets to Cleveland for a trip the week after. Military discount my @$$! It’s cheaper to buy seven days in advance. (&%#!@ Greyhound!)

I’m down with this scene… I reccomend that anyone who has not been to chumley’s go to chumleys.citysearch.net and look at the pic of the front door. There is -no- sign for the place, so the brass 86 is the only way to be sure, and the door is cool looking too.
Is there still room and if so can a newbie come? I am just north of the city and would take Metro North RR to Grand Central does any one know the best way from there? if not I will figure it out

Of course I’m still in, and planning to make a weekend of it. When were you guys planning to go to the zoo? I just can’t pass up a chance to go to the Central Park Zoo. (I dragged Surgoshan there after I picked him up for the dopefest in March.)
