Nope , probably not a great theory. I am still thinking Dante. Malahoth was heavily on the defense of Dante and they were in lockstep up until Malahoth was on the lynch train. Pretty sure octarine is in the clear , so suburban is a good possibility as well.

Maybe it’s just that when I’ve seen townies accused of PIS, it’s often done by a Scum trying to take advantage of something that can be construed as a “slip” by others. See my suspicion of…shit, who was it…amrussell? In Colorless? Scum will try to latch onto stuff like that, because it is a lot easier than actually making a real case against someone.

So I looked it up, and the results are quite illuminating. The specific game in which I supposedly displayed perfect information was Pleonast’s Mini-Munchkin Mafia
If you want to read the whole thing, My “slip” gets pointed out in post #107.

The summary:

• I, sachertorte (Town), imply that storyteller and Squid are Town, when I should not know this. (They turn out to be, but I didn’t know this, yet my statements imply that I do). (Somewhere on Page 2)
• sinjin (Scum) points out the slip, but merely states “concern” in post #107.
• I acknowledge the slip, state that I don’t know that storyteller and squid are Town, but I think that they are. I also explain my statement a bit more.
• Mostly ignored.
• sinjin (Scum) repeats the accusation, wondering why no one else cares. in post #131.
• Cookies (Town) wonders what the fuss is all about, not even remembering the exchange even happened.
• ShadowFacts (Town) links to the post.
• Hockey Monkey (Scum) repeats the accusation and labels it PIS.
• Cookies (Town) relates similar beatings she endured on Day One for statements. Acknowledges that sachertorte should be under watch, but nothing more at this time.

• It gets dropped for a while

I stopped reading there. I also recall that at some point in that game storyteller poo-poos the entire PIS meme.
The result? Drain Bead has justification in her assertion that scum are more likely to latch onto instances of apparent, though totally incorrect, perfect information displays. My only concern is that if a scummy Rysto thought he could get Ed lynched based on PIS, why would scum kill Ed? If Ed were alive Today, would anyone question Rysto had he pushed for Ed’s lynch on the same reasoning? I wouldn’t have.

Those who are voting for Drain Bead, could you explain your vote? Is it the Mason thing?

Yes you were. The name is misleading, but its the one by Pleonast that had a D&D feel to it. You were a Druid of some sort that could blow items into the Hoard.

I would not consider the case against Rysto “meta.”
Drain Bead has asserted that scum are more likely to hang the PIS bogeyman on Townies.
I fact checked this assertion. I found it to be true.
Therefore I feel Drain Bead’s case against Rysto has merit. i.e., Rysto attacked Ed with a PIS attack. Scum like using PIS attacks. Therefore, Rysto is more likely to be scum.

Also, gods help me, I’ve just run a quick search on “Perfect Information Syndrome” mainly in the interests of cutting short yet another sach vs story dispute. I certainly don’t intend to track down every single PIS vote, but the first one I looked at was from Lost, when Zeriel was picked up on PIS and turned out to be scum (and the person who picked it up was town). So it can be a legitimate means of finding scum, as well as a scum tactic for placing a vote.

On a more general note, I’m pretty sure that the reason we have an acronym for PIS is because it’s a behaviour that was observed in the wild and classified, not an esoteric theory that sprang into being with no empirical evidence. That it *may *now have evolved into a tool used more by scum than town is just further proof of how splendid and complex a game Mafia is.

Oh sorry. I meant so say something, but it wasn’t going to be helpful, just a “I remember that happening, but not when.” I was even involved with the discussion, but I don’t remember it.

I remember casting suspicion on Dante a couple of times, but I cast suspicion on a lot of people. When I made my list of players, I put Dante in the Neutral category. I died with my vote on snfaulkner.

Hooker is either misremembering or intentionally distorting my record.

There comes a point in Mafia/werewolf where you have to question why certain people are still alive. Biotop and Hooker have both reached that point for me.

I’ve been suspicious of Biotop for a while now, but it was entirely based on his change in gameplay. Previously he was seriously engrossed with the game. Many posts; very very long and detailed posts; but now he’s much lighter and posting more excuses. There are a few long posts, but I got the feeling that he was going through the motions because he sort of had to. I didn’t think it was fair to think Biotop was scum simply based on that. The truth is he needs to pace himself so it was entirely possible that he was trying to balance life and online games.

But your point on his not-dead-yet-ness is a good one and combined with his change in gameplay makes a good case that he is scum.

Yes but scum have only had 3 kills and you and Texcat were higher on the list , so probably s bit early to question why they are still alive . If Bio is town, scum would have had a hard time up until to paint him as scum for a lynch , they probably didn’t have him as a power role , if he is town , so you snd Rex were higher up the list ,he may well die in the next few nights.
