keeping the MMP score: rosie 5, swampy 4

Oh lord ----- here goes the Cheech and Chong earworm again. And it took two days for me to clear it after Swampy started it!
:smack:

If it gets to the point of forming an investigative team I do have hazardous duty experience, a Nomax fire suit and a good set of leathers.

I don’t even get that involved. My version is strictly a weeknight, ready-in-half-an-hour variety. General directions:

Cook some rice in one pot. In another pot cook up some ground beef with some onions. Add a whole diced green peppers at the end so they don’t get mushy. Toss in a can of diced/crushed/stewed/whatever tomatoes. Add some spices. Chop/shred/slice up some cabbage into bite-ish sized pieces. Add that in. When the cabbage is just slightly softened but not mushy, add the rice to the pot. Taste and adjust the spices/salt as necessary. Done. Twenty minutes on a good night. And really healthy if you use brown rice (obviously this needs longer to cook, though, so leftover is better here) and a leaner ground meat. Plus pepper+tomato+cabbage = a LOT of vitamin C!

It’s at least quiet at work today. But after a couple busy days, I am unnnnnnnnnmotivated. I’m taking tomorrow afternoon off, but it can’t get here soon enough!

it’s evil, but it hasn’t turned white yet - it’s been raining since dark o’thirty this morning - the rain/snow line is hovering right on the border between NYC and Long Island - the only problem is, when all this turns to snow in a few hours, the now wet roads will become ice sheets covered in slippery white stuff - so I ain’t goin’ nowhere

Last week, my mother un-friended me on facebook and twitter. Apparently, she thinks that I am gay just to hurt her. Huh? She calls it my “lifestyle choice”. Why does she think that if it were a choice, I would choose her approbation? I am finally feeling like I have found who I am and I am very happy with C, but my happiness doesn’t seem to have anything to do with my immortal soul. There really aren’t enough  At least she is still talking to me and not preaching too hard.

{{Wallflower}} Sorry your mom doesn’t get it.

I have a big headache and just wanna go home. Bleh.

I don’t know why it’s always up to me to make sure every fucking thing gets done right, while the ones who fuck it up get to go on fucking vacation.

Jus’ sayin’.

Thank you. It wasn’t entirely unexpected. I’ll just have to be content that she still talks to me. She can be the queen of the silent treatment.

Howdy Y’all! Three down and two to go and I ain’t killed anybody. Trust me that is a good thing.

So, after work today, I bought fish, slaw, N.O.T., oil and propane for tomorrow’s big fish fry. I had to fill up two of my three propane grill tanks today to the tune of thirty bucks. No, I won’t need both but the one on the grill right now is bound to give out soon as much as I use it.

Special1 you play a mean tennis racket from the looks of things. :stuck_out_tongue:

Walls she may yet come around. My mom just lurves OYKW. Sometimes I think more than me. Even though it’s oh so evident I am the better lookin’ one. Seriously, family is what family is. I’m just glad you are happy with C. That’s all that matters.

Dindin was leftover chicken pot pie and it was still good. NUM!

Herbs the Mumper recipe blog is one incredible collection of recipes ain’t it! Like you said, thanks gt for keepin’ it up.

Four down and one to go and I didn’t kill anyone either, although my team lead deserved a flogging. After I stayed late yesterday to finish editing my slides, she, for some unknown reason, saved an old, unedited version of the slides in place of the ones I’d done. Yeah. And I had been working on the master version rather than my own, just because I was editing, not creating. I was not happy.

Fortunately, I’d saved the spreadsheet myself and it was correct, so mostly I had to cut and paste from the spreadsheet to the slides. Still, it was a metric assload of slides.

Today was our team lunch and training (actually a team of teams - more than just the team I’m doing slides for…) Anyway, we had a bunch of Polish dishes, plus some German stuff with kraut and sausage, and a few generic offerings. It was good. And the training that followed was actually pretty valuable, for a change.

And, naturally, when I got back to my desk, there were MORE corrections to be done - mostly stupid minor things, but it still required me to work an hour and 20 over. But I’m home. So is my sweetie. And it didn’t snow, but it’s windy like crazy out there!!

I brought home and set up the stereo that I bought from a coworker. At first, there was no sound, and I was about to pitch a fit. Turns out the speaker wires in the back of the tuner were loose. I reset them and the music came forth! Then I brought out and ABBA album and set it on the turntable - YAY!! I can play my records again!!

And for you young 'uns, a record is like a big black vinyl CD that carries the magic of music in its grooves. I’m thinking that’s where the expression “groovy” comes from, right? So now plans for the weekend include unpacking my 4 boxes of records. And much music. YAY!!

And assuming no one else screws up my slides, I’ll be taking off early tomorrow. Because I deserve it, dammit!!

You’re welcome on the blog updates, everyone. It’s really horribly easy as long as I update the second I see the recipe. If you see that I miss one, PM me.

Speaking of food, The Pioneer Woman was on Good Morning, America. These potatoessound yummmmmy. Warning: the following video link autoplays:She demonstrated how to cook pot roast. I’ve added links on the blog too.

That sounds like no fun at all, FCM. Glad you were able to save it, but still. to your team lead. And, yeah, Rebo, it’s amazing how that works out for some people, isn’t it?

Ruble: you’re silly.

Sorry your Mom thought that de-friending was a good idea, Walls.

Work was long and annoying. My laptop decided to give up the ghost this afternoon. Fortunately, they were already working on a replacement for me and brought it to me while I was listening to a conference call. But, again, an afternoon where scheduled stuff didn’t happen.

Off to do something semi-productive. Laundry, perhaps?

Aw, Wallflower. That sucks. I’m sorry. :frowning:

**Wallflower, **that really sucks. So sorry.

Today is my Friday and I went home on time. Screw it. They’re constantly preaching to me about going home on time, so I did. Bleh.

Those potatoes look divine! I wonder if the recipe would work with red potatoes. I prefer the reds to russets. Russets are…well, I just don’t really care for the texture.

rebo, I’ve lived that hell too many times to count. Sorry you have to deal with it.

I have a whole crate full of vinyl albums. I even went out and bought one of those turntables that you can plug into your PC for my husband, so he could put the music on the computer and burn it to CDs. Everything from Led Zeppelin to Billy Joel.

A 30 minute meeting with my boss turned into 2.5 hours. I left his office with a stack of papers over a foot high. He’s behind on everything. Some of the stuff he’s behind on, though, pisses me off because it should have been done by my predecessor. Yeah, it’s boring, but that’s what we get paid to do. There will be fun projects for me to work on later, but I’ve got to trudge through literally years of garbage to get there. Bah! (I still like my job.)

Wallflower, I’m sorry about your mother.

Stitches West, the big yarn convention, is this weekend. I intend to go tomorrow night after work and then either Saturday or Sunday morning. I’ll work the day I don’t go to Stitches.

It stopped snowing after a few hours. I worked, came home, and napped. Now it’s Beer O’Clock.

Taters, I need one of those USB turntables.

Moooooommmm!, I’ve got Dorsey Brothers LPs. I’m Old School like that.

{{{{Wallflower}}}}

Rebo, I get in that situation a lot. Look on the bright side, if they’re on vacation, they can’t make messes for you to clean up.

Shadow, a foot high stack? Sounds like you have some job security.

Going to NYC tomorrow with my sister (again, for those who follow my every move on Facebook). I won a contest to have dinner at theJames Beard House and a two night stay. Should be fun!

Nice air-dude pictures Nooner!

I can’t imagine un-friending my kids on FB or in RL—that so sucks. :frowning:

I heard a horrible story today from an older nurse who is also a good one. God, nurses can be so awful to other nurses. I know all stories have two sides, but there is no excuse for what was done to her. People can truly suck.
I am very tired and have to work tomorrow. Getting up early is so hard by Friday. I know I need more sleep but no matter how little I get, at 10pm, I am bright eyed and bushy tailed.

I really didn’t read all that closely. Sorry. Trying to watch skating and pay bills. Just finished ironing 8 blouses and 5 pairs of pants. I hate ironing. Hate it.

Wallflower, if not getting updates from FB is one of the things that help Wallmom come to grips with your being gay, then what the hell, let’s just hope it happens sooner rather than later. Like you say, it’s better than the silent treatment (did she leave you notes on what housework you had to do, too? Mine did for a while, a couple times).

I kind’a wish I could/knew how to have several “levels” of FB friends. I don’t want to un-friend or reject requests from my relatives, but I don’t post anything there because the relatives of mine who are in FB aren’t exactly in my list of favorites, either… there’s things I’d be happy to share with my friends and with y’all, but not with Bigoted Cousin or Will Steal You Blind Cousin, if you know what I mean.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN

I’m about a hunnert percent sure I won’t check back in until tomorrow. After irk I need to run back to da cave, get my outdoor cooker and the slaw (which I have already made, Go Me!) and N.O.T. and get over to church to begin the big fish-n-chips fry up. The fish is already at the church, so yay. Last count is up to 48 people, which, IMO, is a lot of people to cook for. It’s all good cause we have enough fish to feed approximately 60 people. Always plan ahead, I say.

That’s about it here. Need to feed rumbly tummy in a bit and then purtify for work.

After checkin’ in on FB of course.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Happy Firday, mumpers! I am very tired today, just haven’t slept at all well this week so I am looking forward to the weekend. I spoke to my doting parent yesterday, she’s busy this weekend so no visiting for me. That means I could be spending Sunday in my jammies instead. Woohoo!

Yes. I do feel your pain.

In a small way, I had this happen to me yesterday. My boss called (she was off site) and told me to go relieve PACU nurses so they could go to lunch. Um, ok, but I don’t work PACU and don’t know the paperwork or their set up. Sure you do, she says–you’ve worked it before.

Um, yeah. 8 years ago for two whole days. Why of course I have kept all the intricacies of PACU charting in my head as well as kept current on all the recent changes in practice etc. And so, I did tech stuff (no charting, just hands on stuff) while Nurse A, then Nurse B went to lunch etc.

I got to eat about 230 pm. Apparently everyone else eats except me. :dubious:
