Keeping track in the MMP

We sure are! Stop by early and often for whatever you need….if we have it, it’s yours!

Rye, sweet Vermouth, and some bitters

The bitters sound really nice, I hope you enjoy.

How is your roomie? Have you started looking at puppy and kitten pics yet, or are you going to be all mature and smart and get an older pet?

Doing good so far. And for once, I’m pretending to be an adult.

OTOH, GG is calming down somewhat and is getting a little boring. Except for the part where he keeps getting stuck behind doors, that is always a source of laughter.

So…I think you need a kitten AND a puppy! And a whole lot more booze to get over the loss of all of your shoes and furniture.

This is why i adopt the weird ones. Thye amuse me their entire lives.

That was Maggie Wonderbeagle, who didn’t know you could walk through a doorway that was 85% open.

Yup. GG makes us laugh daily. I was able to open the windows for a little while today and his whole world changed. He thought the flying foods only chirped in his catio, he had NO idea that they made noise anywhere else. It was super funny to watch him scamper around between windows and catio, then discuss how much fun this was last year.

I regret to report that I am itchy. I took extra antihistamines (above the six I normally take) and am praying it eases. I can’t get the injections more often, and I’m just about out of options.

MetalMouse, they’re side by side. I hate to admit it, but I can’t reach the upper machine when they’re stacked.

Butters, I forgot earlier to tell you I said a prayer for Terri.

So cool! I miss the starry skies in Wyoming. I can’t see more than one or two now. I guess light pollution is a thing.

I am so sorry. I really do wish there was something I could do to help you because I know that constant itching is horrible.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I can’t use stacked machines either. Us vertically challenged folks get no respect!

So, St. Pat’s day is drawing close and the diner owner who thought red butter would be a great idea has now started asking me about making green butter again. She is a really nice person who is doing her best to make her diner popular and unique. I get this, I understand and I want her to make a lot of money because then she will give some of it to me.

I am not making green butter. Green cheese does not leave my creamery. This is a hill I will die on (OK, maybe that pun was intended, kinda, maybe), I do not sell bad looking cheese and ain’t nobody gonna wanna eat green butter.

Thanks for all the support and prayers.

Flyboy I once had a graft. My dentist had a French dentist visiting and I guess that was her specialty so they offered to do it for free if I’d let them. They took a piece out of the roof of my mouth and put it into the gum line. It worked. I’m not gonna tell you it didn’t hurt. If I had it to do over I would not but maybe it would be different for you.

Nellie I’m sorry you are itching again. It would drive me bonkers. Here’s hoping for less histamine and less itching.

Nettie forgot to say I’m sorry about the job. Scammers are right up there with thieves as far as I’m concerned.

It was a rather slothful day here today as usual. I spent the day watching bad TV. It now way past my bedtime but I don’t sleep much anymore anyway. Damned insomnia.

Safe and healthy and happy all.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

A day well spent.

Hope the itchies abate soon, nellie.

:musical_note: don’t fence me in… :musical_note:

I couldn’t sleep last night so I dyed my hair blue, using one of those semi-permanent dyes.

Says it lasts 6-10 shampoos; hmph, we’ll see how faded it gets after 3.

Walked in to work today and instantly back of house was all, “You dyed your hair?!?” Since I didn’t bleach it first or anything, and the color is … subtle … I was surprised everyone noticed.

Then they pointed out that I HAVE A BLUE EAR I apparently wasn’t as careful as I could have been about the application. Plus I kept running my hands through my hair as it was drying (it was so soft!) so I showed up with blueish hands, looking somewhat like a zombie.

Good times. Go me.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 54 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 72 and mostly cloudy for the day. TWPTB say we will have rain tomorrow. We shall see. I have a doc appt. (routine checkup) at nine-thirty this mornin’. After that I will run a few errands whilst in town. The afternoon shall be taken up with the usual sloth and general overall uselessness. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit. We have not had pizza in a while so that will be a treat.

Nellie sorry you’re itchy again. May you find relief soonest.

JtC I agree. Green butter sounds wrong.

shoe I think blue hair is cool. Did you ask people if they wanted BRRRRRAAAIIINNNSSS on their pizzas?

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and alack, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed for the second day in a row. Why must life be so mean to me!

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Emphasis mine - that’s why we quit going there years ago. As I recall, everything was a la carte and it added up really fast. Plus, frankly, I didn’t think it was all that good. Texas Roadhouse is our go-to.

YUM!! You lucky duck!!

MIL went thru our local BJ’s last week just to check it out, and she found that the prices were no better than in the grocery store. Plus she doesn’t need massive sizes of anything. It’s the same reason I let our membership lapse years ago - it just wasn’t worth it. And the Sam’s and Costco are too far away to even bother investigating.

It is. Even tho we live in the boonies, it’s not boonies enough, plus a lot of neighbors have “security” lights that stay on all night. ugh.

Speaking of which, I was reading something that suggested all said lights do is make it easier for thieves to see and get around at night. If you left everything dark, they’d have to use flashlights, which would give them away. Dunno - it’s just easier not to have anything worth stealing…

First time I colored my hair - decades ago - I used a dye that was supposed to wash out after a couple of weeks. HAH! It lasted months! Luckily, I’d picked a color that was close enough to my own that there wasn’t a distinct line as it grew out. (This was way before people used fun colors!) And while I didn’t get it on my ear or hands, I did drip on the bathroom rug, and it never recovered!

I’ve been thinking about going light-auburn again, just for the heck of it. As I recall, the dyes make my hair a tad thicker, and every little bit will help at this point. At the rate it’s going, I’ll be balding like FCD before too long… :open_mouth:

Today, FCD is taking his mom to her cardiologist. I think it’s a check of her pacemaker. At least it’s a local office - so many specialists are located in the more populous counties, making for a long drive - like the retina specialist. Anyway, he’s got that and I’ve got the kids. Daughter is likely having the expulsion board this afternoon - no clue how long that will take, but the kid is history. Even his father admits he’s a problem, but he refuses to consider therapy, so the kid is doomed.

How sad that so many people still look upon therapy and depression and the like as moral failures or something. I don’t understand that mindset…

Anyway, speaking of MIL, as I was earlier, she’s flying to Texas on Tues to visit her middle son. Her flight is at 10 out of BWI, which is about 90 minutes from us under normal conditions. But to get her there before 9, we need to be on the road by 7:30, which puts us in the morning rush, which would further delay us. And being Tuesday, I have Tobias.

So the plan is to pick up MIL around 6:30, swing by and grab Tobias, then head to the airport. I’ll drop off FCD and his mom, then go visit my sister who lives about 10 minutes from the airport. The babby and I will hang with her till the plane takes off. We’ll retrieve FCD and head home. Not ideal for Tobias, but it would be worse if FCD had to drive himself, park, wheel his mom in, then head back to the parking garage after. And my sister will be glad for some Tobias time.

But that’s next week. Today is just another chilly day of toddler wrangling.

Happy Thursday!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 1c/33f with a predicted high of 2c/36f, and snow showers. Weather app quite rightly says “Fuck this fucking shit! It’s snowing!” And I agree - it started snowing yesterday morning and hasn’t really stopped although mostly it’s been very fine flakes that took a long time to settle. Once it did start settling last night, it’s built up to a few inches all over. We have a local weather warning for ice and snow, and I expect it will be worse tomorrow once it all freezes overnight.

Butters sending positive thoughts for Terri, and for you too.

flyboy dentists are icky horrible people. Just sayin’

JtC I love being able to visit dark sky areas, we were in NZ a few years ago right at the bottom of the south island and it was so gloriously dark there, we could see so much in the sky that we don’t normally get to see with the light pollution here.

shoe I am a regular with the box dyes, currently using one called Ultra Violet which is actually quite a nice purplish colour. I have dyed bits of myself so often, I’ve lost count. Usually it washes off when I start rinsing the dye out but having purple ears is almost normal these days.

Busy day for me today, I have got some help from people outside our School to get us through the hell of formatting exam papers. It’s a time-consuming fiddly job that nobody likes doing, and we have 81 papers circulating through original formatting, pdf conversion, checking and double-checking before we can pass them on to the exams office’s official repository for printing. I just need to get the style guide, sample docs and spreadsheet sorted out so I can get them started on what they need to do.

Then it’s back to meetings and annual reviews for the team. Oh joy.

at home i keep track on either a white board or chalk board. the white board is a magnetic thing that is shaped like a surf board. it is on the fridge and mostly has lager’s med info on it.
the chalk board are peel and sticks, one is just a large rectangle and the other is in the shape of a cat.
in the office i use post its or note paper with magnets.

hair wise i use “splat” turquoise reef or aqua crush, the trick is to leave it on for hours and rinse in “as cold as you can stand it” water. the colour will last for months.

lager is doing well, touch wood. he is eating his new food and his numbers are really good. i believe that when his numbers tick up he is heading for a bout of pancreatitis. i have decided to give him the pain meds when he ticks up and see if that heads it off.

I don’t know how it happened, but my main email address has been sold to purveyors of dementia cures, diabetes aids, weight loss stuff, ED cures, and hair loss products. So much junk mail and unsubscribe isn’t doing much…

Butters, I hope you’ll be able to give us an update on Terri soon! Sending you hugs in the meantime.

I completely agree that computers are our masters, nellie. Computers and teachers who apparently lost previously-submitted assignments (turns out his teacher accidentally failed all the students in class after inadvertently deleting everyone’s paper…oops; they all get to resubmit however).

Wish I could send you some cinnamon, Kitten. I swear the kids eat so much we’re there at Costco every week. One is in track and the other in competitive swim, so pizzas have become snacks.

Today is okay so far, though I’m afraid to commit to that. Got up at 5, went for a waddle with my neighbor lady friend. Her dog passed over the weekend, which is terrible. She’d had her for 18 years. So we walked and chatted about the pooch. It’s a shame they don’t give a day of leave for people whose pets have passed. She said she felt stupid for being sad, but the dog was a member of the family.

Anyway, work is finally somewhat meeting-light, so hopefully I will be able to get things done. I’ve had a couple of motivation-free days because I’ve been overwhelmed with the quantity of work, so I resorted to setting timers. Work for 30 minutes and focus only on one thing with my email app closed and IMs set on do not disturb so I don’t see things pop up, then 2-5 minutes to breathe. So far I’ve done more this morning than I managed to get done during all my meetings this week. Go figure. Look at me, all adulting and managing my time.

shoe, I do hope we get to see your hair.

Supposed to get several inches of snow today. Forecasting here must be the easiest gig in TV news. Weather folk in Alaska and Oregon had a hard time predicting much of anything other than sunrise. Mountains and oceans, doncha know. But here they forecast the exact time the snow will start, which is just astonishing to me.

Morning all. Has been a bit of a “What the &*%^%” morning, went to check the back yard because I thought I had heard something and found 2/3 of one side of my fence had fallen down, probably last week in the stormy weather, but I seldom go out back so I just noticed it. Got a call and e-mail (with pictures) to the folks who repaired my fence last time this happened, but they are swamped with work from other folks who notice things faster than I do, so it may be next week before they can do anything. So just got hit with one big expense and here comes another one…might ask cookie if they have any more space in that retirement village of his…

So did do a little shopping therapy at Wal-Mart and am now awaiting the ductwork guy to clean out my garage this afternoon…and, just to make the day complete, it’s raining and looks to continue raining well into the evening. Oh joy.

FCM, feel for you, so far I’ve avoided that sort of junk mail, but I still get a lot of stuff from places I’ve bought from/travel agencies, so I know some of the feeling. At least the unsubscribe buttons for most of them seem to work. And you plan sounds good, hope it goes that way.

rocky, good news on Lager.

Boo fae, know what you mean about it being really dark, I remember my trip to the Galapagos we turned out the lights on the rear of the ship and…wow. And snow in March…I am with your weather app on this one.

shoe, so you have blue hairs and a blue ear? Well, at least you don’t have to worry about blue bal…something else…

JtC, green butter is an idea, but does not sound appetizing. I will stand on that hill with you. And seeing a fireball in the sky; magic.

OK, need to forage for sustenance since I have had such an active morning. All y’all take care.
