Insomnia seems to have been a theme last night. Ugh.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Hockey on TV tonight.
My Grandfather traveled away from home working for the Public Works Administration, and Grandmother slept on the back porch with three children and a butcher knife under her pillow.
Now that’s a lumpy pillow!
Up for a bit making my football picks for the week (I’m in a Protestant football pool where you try to pick every game win/loss all season) and cursing my sinuses. Something croaking in the seasonal change is driving them nuts.
And a big one, too, to cover 3 kids and a knife…

Gordie has been walked, recycling has been dropped off, and we walked by the cee-ment pond on the way in. I’m making blackened poke cop and eggs for brunch.
He locked her out when he went off to work?:dubious: I see where you get it from.![]()
LUNCH!!!
That is all.
Sounds arresting.
Bored, bored, bored. Out team is about 70% employees & 30% contractors / consultants. Didn’t know until I came in today that the employees are off site doing one of those day of service events. Had I known, I would have brought a book in to pass the time. I even called the Doc to see iffn I could move my appointment up from Friday but he’s booked up.
BLURF My event is indeed postponed until next Thursday. There are TS watches up for all the Keys except the Lower Keys where I am. I want a day off irk dammit.
I saw the vampire this morning and got a flu shot. Other than that just plugging away paying vendors.
Chop. My phone’s otter corrupt is full of shirt.
Happy Toosday!
Beautiful day today!
metal mouse, you are correct (I had to look it up :smack:). I tend to get my military Stewarts / Stuarts confused.
Feel better soon to all of you [del]sickos[/del] sickies.
A more interesting day today than yesterday.
I put my new steam mop together last evening and will take it for a test drive this afternoon when I get home. It will be much more economical than the wet jet.
Red, I love my steam mop. It’s great for the floors, and I can remove the head and use the nozzle for steaming the shower stall - much easier to just wipe away the crud, versus scrubbing soap scum!
Looked at the weather forecast this morning, and immediately got dressed and went to the big Walmart to stock the pantry and various hygiene, first aid, and household supplies. Looks like we’re going to roll out the unwelcome mat for Hurricane Matthew this weekend, and I’m just not in the mood for big crowds to start mobbing the bread and bottled water aisles. We probably won’t get major winds this far inland, but we’re set for a day or two without electricity. I just need to run up to the farm and retrieve the generator, and fill up a couple of gas cans, in case we need to run the well pump or the freezer.
I’m hoping that the storm track moves offshore, though - high school homecoming Friday night, my brother’s wedding Saturday, and both are likely to be delayed if Matthew continues on the current track.
I am fighting the good fight against the viral whatsit that the boy and the DH have. My chest is all wheezy. I crawled back into bed at 7:30 after getting both kids off to school and slept until 11:30.
I will do some things. Really. Maybe.
I coulda been a contender (today)! shakes fist
Also, good luck to everyone in the path of Matthew! Take care and keep us posted when you can.
Pottery has been removed from the kiln - pics on FB.
Sketties for supper - yum! OK, not exactly sketties. I’m using up the last of the linguini, but it’s all the same stuff in different shapes, right? It’s been a good, busy day. Yay!
Your pottery and pasta are easy to confuse with each other.
Perhaps it is me.
Retrieved the generator, filled up a couple of gas cans, and stopped at the sto’ for the last couple of things I forgot this morning (paper plates, Benadryl for the dog who hates storms, beer.) Sprayed the roof of the motor home to seal a small leak. (If we don’t have power and are absolutely dying for air conditioning, we can bunk in the camper, plugged into the generator. Lots easier to cool off 180 square feet than 2500, plus lights, microwave, and a small fridge with just one drop cord.) Got plenty of charcoal and propane if we need to cook outdoors, or I can use the gas stove. We’re set for a day or two without power. Longer than that, and we’ll strike out for the nearest Grandma with electricity.
Pot pie for dinner, made from last night’s leftover pot roast. And I love pot pie and pot roast, so hooray!
