I would suggest that the DopeFest be near Universal City, but not in it. I always call CityWalk “McLosAngeles.” Anyway, it’s always loud, crowded and overpriced. Don’t forget the $7 parking fee too.
I’m not trying to be cheap, but I think we could get more bang for our collective buck.
Seth, do you know any good spots near Universal City? I haven’t been anywhere near there for several years. If anyone knows of a good spot in that area and we agree, then it’s all good.
I’d like either Tony Roma’s or Jerry’s Deli. If those choices are fine with everyone, then I guess I’ll call them tomorrow to see if they can accomodate us.
Shayna! I’m glad you’ll be able to come. I can’t wait to meet you ;).
Also, Fairy Princess Kitty should be attending the fest with us.
This is turning out pretty decent. I guess it looks like the 24th. All the details should be hammered out in about a week, give or take a few days.
I think Jerry’s is the safer choice (there might be vegetarians lurking in the background!). Anyway, the one in Studio City is attached to a bowling alley, which has an arcade, etc. You might call the bowling alley and schedule a little brew-ha-ha there, too.
I also cast my vote for Jerry’s Deli and bowling. I’ll check my calendar for the 24th but I’m pretty sure I can attend. It will be a pleasure to see my LA friends again.
Hey, if it’s the Jerry’s Deli in Studio City, that’s where one of the gay bowling leagues hangs out Saturday nights. Hmmm. Esprix in bowling shoes? Now there’s an image…
I suspect a large party could fit into that Jerry’s, but parking’s a bitch there.
It’s not too late to add my name to the list, is it?
I had plans to visit KKBattousai in March, but we thought it’d be neat if I pushed my arrival date up so I could attend the 'fest. So if it’s not too late, Monster104, could you please add me to the list of attendees?
Whatever arrangements KKB’s okay with are fine with me.
There’s lots of parking there, just not necessarily in Jerry’s lot. The office building next door opens its’ gates on the weekends, the bowling alley has parking, and then there is always the street…
I noticed on the Universal Citywalk site that there wasn’t a phone number for Jerry’s. How am I supposed to find out how many people it can hold, how to make reservations, etc.?
The Jerry’s at Citywalk isn’t a sit-down place to dine, so we wouldn’t be able to do it there.
Here’s our choices: We can go to the Jerry’s in Studio City, the one with the bowling alley. It is close to Universal City (About 5-8 minutes away). This would get rid of the Citywalk theme, but we would still be at Jerry’s.
-OR-
We could keep the Citywalk theme, but choose a different restaurant. There is a Gladstone’s, but that’s primarily seafood. They have a Daily Grill Short Order, which is described as having a variety of foods, so this could be a good choice. There is also a Tony Roma’s, but this wouldn’t be the best choice for vegetarians and such.
