Last week of April in the MMP

**Beck **- hereit is.

I want a recipe website where use of cream-of-anything soup is banned!!! It’s all evil - ALL OF IT!!!

<deep cleansing breaths> I was trying to find something different to do with chicken for supper, and easily half of the recipes I opened used that glop! ick.

FCM, I have two goodie-roonie chickie recipes, with no cream-of-whatever soup! Do you have an Insta pot?

Will the mods bust me for posting recipes in the MMP?
~VOW

I don’t have an insta pot, but I found a chicken strip recipe that looks good, so that’s on tonight’s menu.

As for posting recipes, I have done it - in fact, I think I did yesterday. But links are easier for me, when I can.

Well, off to the kitchen to prep the sweet N.O.T.s for fries.

FCM, got it. Simple and sounds good. Thx!

I’d be interested in hearing what happens!

Having a martini. The critters are snoozing. I had to run to the sto. The first song that came on the radio when I got in the car was Don’t Fear The Reaper.[/Ominous foreshadowing].

FCM, chicken boobs simmered in marinara sauce in the crockpot are good. Top with cheese.

Just a normal Monday here. I am now waiting for the cable guy. My cable and internet service has been really spotty lately. It dropped out last night at about 600pm and naturally has come back up an hour before the tech was supposed to be here.

The chickie strip recipe I used wasn’t bad, but no one was really impressed, so I won’t mess with it again. The sweet N.O.T. fries looked awful - I guess I need to toss them in oil before dropping them into the air fryer. They tasted meh.

So all in all, not much of a supper. Oh well…

Time to load the dishwasher. WOOHOO!!

Mrs. L.A. received a Treasury check in the mail. I didn’t look too closely at the envelope since it’s none of my business. But it definitely looks like a T-check in the window. She’s off seeing a patient, so maybe it will be a nice surprise when she gets home. (I hope it’s a nice surprise!)

nelliebly, I have to run to the store to pick up corn meal. I could have sworn I had some but don’t. So it may be tomorrow before I bake the recipe you sent me. I will, though, let you know how it comes out.

Mooooooom, I tend not to go down every aisle either. The Pubic Sto’ had arrows on the floor. I’m with you on the cream-of-whatever glop in recipes. What I fixed last evening was creamy, mushroomy (is too a word!) and had chicken, but, alas, I didn’t get it online, but from Cook’s Illustrated (Chicken Oporto, if you’re interested). Essentially, mushrooms sautéed in butter as the base of a white sauce, some port wine and chicken browned after being dredged in flour, salt, pepper and nutmeg. I served it over a nice mix of brown and wild rice.

bumba, the last time I bought tires (that weren’t the result of an auto accident) was for my Yaris. IIRC, it was ~$240 for a pair, so you really got a deal.

I’m fixing to order the new table/chairs. The old ones aren’t worth salvaging. Took Nelson for a long walk around the complex this afternoon, did my MS coursework, had my Zoom meeting and read a good share of the afternoon, on the patio, no less. I’m going into irk tomorrow for 2 or 2.5 days to get EoM out of the way. They’ve set me up with three monitors in the Facilities manager’s office, so I can get stuff done.

Stay healthy y’all!

Well, we tried an experiment. We had left over smashed taters (N.O.T.). I put in eggs, flour, diced onion, tiny bit of minced garlic and extra black pepper. And enough milk to make it a thick pancake batter and made Poatato pancakes. We also had a few leftovers from the weekend.
It was a good meal. Everyone liked the pancakes. The kids were alittle confused but they ate them with ketchup.

Nearly cleaned out the fridge of leftovers. There’s still some pulled pork that is not sauced. Well do something with that tomorrow.
Makes me feel good not to waste food.

Good evening y’all. (:))

My pulled pork go to:

Lightly toast a couple of nice slices of French baguette. Put a liberal serving of pulled pork on the toast and a scoop of garlic Parmesan mashed Yukon gold potatoes and then smother this with bacon and sausage country gravy…

Evening all. Went to the King’s place for Burgers, but they didn’t have French Fries, so I moved onto Jack’s (not Jack in the Box, this is a local burger chain) and by mistake they gave me another person’s order (didn’t notice until I got home) so I consumed way to many French fries than is healthy, so I imagine I won’t be feeling hunger pangs anytime soon.

Nappage won over walkage so not much accomplished, maybe tomorrow.

Take care all.

Attempting DIY hand sanitizer gel, with frustrating results.

First attempt combined all three desired ingredients: xanthan gum (thickener), aloe vera juice, and isopropyl alcohol. The mixture never thickened. It will still fulfill its purpose, just rather runnily.

Second attempt was a two-stage operation: combine xanthan with aloe juice. Achieved gel, although not exactly smooth. Mixing in isopropyl yielded some truly bizarre texture (so far. I’m going to let this batch consider the matter for a while).

Well, the N.O.S spell has broken, just in time for me to take the car to the car doctor, which involves a 20 minute walk back in the rain. Now I await the call for how much it’s gonna be… At least my tyres are a lot cheaper’n what any of you said, but then my car’s probably the size you’d buy for the toddler to play with.

I went past the fruit 'n veg place on the way and got some more of those very good strawberries on the way, to soften the blow a bit. You can tell they’re good when you can smell 'em when you’re carrying them.

Anyway, back to the final assignment. It’s a 6000 word one; it’s funny, I can write near enough 6000 posts on here no problem, but a mere 6000 words is a real drag…

Seanette, I put the Xanthan gum in my Magic Bullet, with a little liquid. I blend it for a few seconds, and it thickens up VERY nicely. Smooth, too.

Good Toosday morning.
I had an eventful day, yesterday. Not exactly a good day, but, eventful, nonetheless. Humbug, though.
My dryer went tits up. If you recall, the fridge went tits up not too long ago. I wonder what the third one will be? It always happens in threes. Probably the big, upright freezer. I truly hope not. Deity be with me.

Anyway, the new dryer should be here today, at some point. With the help from my daughter, we got the old dryer out, and put outside. Someone will haul it off, today. I hope. I did remove the power cord from it. I hope the new one takes the same kind. Time will tell. So, we’ll have to get it hauled in, and hooked up, once it gets delivered. They told me that they will only do ‘driveway delivery’, because of The Virus™ situation. They also will not haul away the old one. Same reason. Because of The Virus™ situation.
I’ll be glad when this is all taken care of. Good grief.

I’m sitting here, having my coffee (Which I’m in dire need of another cup), and trying (Not exactly succeeding, but trying) to get my crap together. It’s too early for this stuff.

Have a good day, folks.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 52 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 83 and mostly N.O.S. Today is laundry day. Such excitatement! Sup shall be boxed lasagna (don’t judge!), sallit, and cheesey garlic bread. Yestiddy was the day that restaurants could re-open in Jawja. I shall snoop around teh intartoobz for news on how that went. There are rules such as servers must wear masks, no parties bigger than six, tables etc six feet apart (I assume a party of six may sit together), no buffets, salad bars, or drink stations. I know there’s other stuff but I can’t remember. However, I can tell you that no restaurant will contain OYKW or Da Bear for a good while yet.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

We’ve got another dreary day on tap. I’m seeing a bit of sun at the moment, but the hourly forecast says mostly cloudy to cloudy all freekin’ day. And temps in the 50s!!! We’re supposed to be in the low 70s this time of year!! Our furnace is still kicking on, fercryin’outloud!

Anyway, I plan to do a load of jeans, then push the vacuum cleaner around. Supper will be leftover pulled poke with non-leftover sides. And maybe I’ll tidy the bedroom today. Or not.

Speaking of appliances, I’m holding my breath about the dishwasher. It’s 15 years old, and both racks are starting to rust away. Replacements are unavailable because it’s so old. And it’s more and more frequently making not-nice-noises. On the plus side, it wouldn’t be as desperate a situation as when the fridge died. I can always wash dishes by hand. On the minus side, we’d have to have someone install it because **FCD **is no longer able to crawl around under the counters - what with his back and all. And considering the Plague, I don’t know if we could get it done anyway.

So we wait…

Happy Tuesday!

I have been involved in an ongoing issue with my cable/internet provider. My services have been dropping out intermittently for about six weeks. The phone tech support is mainly waiting long enough to get someone to answer the phone who then doesn’t really offer anything but scheduling a technician to come out at $75.00 a visit. The most maddening thing about this so called tech support in their habit of terminating the call after I had been waiting tor “the next available operator” for twenty minutes or so. I had no service from 5.00pm Sunday to 2.00 pm Monday. The “Tech Support” person on the phone set me up with an onsite visit for last evening but told me that due to the Corona Virus the technicians are no longer entering the house. I knew that all of the connections and cables in the house were OK. (I am an electrician after all) but I asked her what would happen if the problem was in the hose. She replied that the technician would do whatever he could from outside. So, if my problem was inside I would have no cable/internet until the global pandemic ends???

The guy actually showed up on time and found that the main trunk line feeding the drop to my house has too much of a signal to noise ratio. He cleaned up the connections on the pole and put in a filter that will keep me running until the main is repaired.

Sorry for the vent…
