Lazy, Drunken MMP [merged threads, edited title]

I’m staying in my old flat in Glasgow until I can move in to the dorms; I transferred the rental to one of my coworkers before moving back to Spain. He isn’t here now, and boy am I glad I asked when is he coming, because there’s only one bed and he’s coming on the 23rd.

Which is next Sunday.

And when I asked another ex-coworker for the armchair-bed, it turned out it’s in a third house, no keys available…

So I guess I better find an inflatable or some such before Sunday!

52C? Man, I suffered a summer when the thermometer reached 48 several days and wouldn’t wish that on anybody… stay indoors and stay as un-hot as possible!

Up caffeinated, off to work.

You have my sympathy.

Howdy Y’all! Checkin’ in. I hate work. I’s tahred. My haid hurts. It’s rainin’. Ima take pm ache stuff, go lie upon the bed and watch teevee a bit.

That is all.

koff koff cawff!

Salad has been added to the blog. It sounds yum.

Yay for VunderKind coming to visit!

And yay for air conditioning!

::waves at swampy::

Hope you are getting your energy back, Puggy!

Gosh, sounds like you’re really looking forward to Ramadan, Dotty. Not. Hope it goes by fast.

How long before you can move into the dorms, Nava?

I got to work late and left early. Yay! Had a good day, except for a couple of moments. Such as right at the beginning when my bus didn’t arrive. Or was very late. I think it might have broken down because there was a bus that scooted past us when the next bus was 1/2 a block away. A friend I talked to on the bus said she saw people on it.

But that wasn’t so much the strange part. About ten minutes after the bus should have been there it started to rain. Hard. Gully-washer quality downpour. Fortunately my bus stop has a shelter, but there was lots of water rushing down the street and I had to cower in the corner to avoid being splashed by all those nice cars rushing down the street (it’s a busy road).

I’m pretty sleep deprived, so I think I’ll be having a little something for din din and then maybe I’ll watch something, knit a bit and then toddle off to bed.

Off to find food.

ETA: Stop that coughing, missy! Is it getting any better?

a little better - but each morning still brings up Great Green Globs of Greasy Grimy Gopher Guts - I thought I’d go back to work today - but didn’t feel well enough

Finally home, fed, and relaxing. I ended up doing 3 hours of comp time on my latest Priority #1 project. I decided early the best way to attack my portion, and I cleared it with the lead, who happens to sit beside me. He agreed with my rationale, and then said something that really disturbed me.

Apparently, someone has been spreading the word that I’m doing a lousy job and my performance review is going to be bad because I’m really senior and I’m getting paid a lot but I’m not working up to that level… I’m still in training and trying to figure out my new area of analysis, and I really haven’t done a product yet, so I just don’t get it.

Rather than stew over it, I grabbed my branch head and asked to talk. As soon as I shut his office door, I almost started crying, which pissed me off - my worst stress reaction is tears. Anyway, I asked if he’d heard anything bad about me, and I told him the whole story. He was as puzzled as I was, and he promised to get to the bottom of it. I felt a lot better after talking with him, and I don’t want to know who was trashing me - it’d be too hard to work with someone knowing what they thought. Altho I have a suspicion.

My product is ready for review - the trick is finding someone who can do it. Everyone is tied up in this super-critical other Priority #1 project, so one of the big bosses will have to make the call. With luck, all I’ll have to do is some minor tweaking, then explain at the final review why I did it the way I did. Meanwhile, I have 4 days coming to me - I foresee adding it to a Monday holiday and taking a week off. Someday…

Hope I can wind down before bedtime. I vote for an early Firday, too. I also hope I won’t be working this weekend. Fingers crossed…

That’s the worst, FCM I hope it gets cleared up quickly

Thanks, rosie. I can say I thoroughly trust my boss. I know he wouldn’t think twice about calling me in if I was screwing up. So when he says he hasn’t heard anything, I can believe him.

I also feel sorry for him. Tomorrow is his mom’s 82nd bday, and he’ll be stuck late at work - he’s on the Priority #1 Project From Hell also.

FCM- good for you for being proactive and going right to your boss. That was smart and gutsy.
I dropped my Reese Cup today at the gas station pump. It was a tragedy. And before anyone says anything- at the gas pump the 5 second rule DOES NOT apply.

I woke up with an ass-kicking headache that was making me puke. I called in sick and slept for a bit more. When I woke up again, I decided to go on into work since I wasn’t urping any more.

I still felt awful, but felt even worse about leaving my co-worker to deal with a review and analysis that’s being done tomorrow. So, I hauled myself in, finished the final touches on the slide packets, printed them and worked out the final details for where it was being held. (Long story, and I am too tired to go into it now).

My boss wasn’t thrilled that I came in, but I told him as long as I wasn’t dizzy or puking, I could deal with my head. I just wanted to get the stuff done and not have someone else have to pick up the slack.

So, tomorrow I’ll be in to work early to set up for the R&A, conduct it, and then head back down to my office to get going on the budget estimate database. Bleh. Friday can’t get here soon enough.

I’m glad your boss made you feel better, **FCM. **

I’ll have to leave in a bit to take my son to driver’s ed. Hubby is out on the neighbor’s boat wakeboarding.

yes, I know

yes, I know

Look - all I can do is read FB & MMP and play addicting games - I can’t sleep during the day - it’s too hot. So, I sit here and bounce back and forth. So, yeah. I know stuff.

I’m feeling redundant.

Me too…

Me too…

Me too…

Guess what I just discovered? It’s a really BAD idea to take pills with Coca Cola

Alright, Puggie, you got your wish. Puppeh picks. We have a momma Boxer with 3 one week old girl pups, from the shelter.

The solid fawn

The flashy fawn

The white girlie

All 3 puppehs

The nest in the pantry

Mamma

Mamma has mange, and is severely malnourished. The pups are small, but since we’ve been feeding Mamma well, they’re catching up with their expected weight and size.

aaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
