Let's all have a good week in the MMP

I love this time of day when the soft sunlight is just starting to filter through the trees and it’s still cool outside. I’m going to re-pot the crispy wave (Who named this thing?) and walk to the store, and later the kids will call.

swampy, what topping do you put on the pot pie? It must not be the usual pie crust; maybe a crumb version, like a savory dutch apple pie? Hope you have a lovely time at the potluck.

I’m sorry. Those nights suck. Life is hard enough in the daytime; nights should be restful.

FCM, when I was a kid, I remember hearing religious adults say, “Well, that’ll be another gem in your heavenly crown” whenever someone went through something hard for someone else’s sake. I could never figure out why anyone would care about gems or crowns once they got to heaven. You work SO hard and put up with SO much for your in-laws that I hope you get something better and more immediate than that, like a whole lot of satisfaction and appreciation and some actual sloth time. Also, I hope you sleep a lot better tonight. Are you and FCD in a guest room or a hotel room?

WetOne, enjoy your house-to-yourself time! Sounds like you have some good eating ahead!

Finally getting a chance to poke my nose in, and I was 170+ posts behind – i.e., most of the thread! :hushed: I read a few of the recent ones, but skipped everything in the middle.

Work was busier than usual all week, and I don’t do much typing in the evenings anymore: in order to keep my tailbone from hurting while I’m on the couch I need to sit/lean/lay on one hip or another, and none of those positions is good for iPad typing (to the extent needed to post). The cushion that works for chairs doesn’t work for the sofa; I assume because the latter is softer/squishier. The upshot is that if I don’t get around to posting here on a given day while I’m sitting at my desk – either while working, or on a weekend – I likely won’t post at all that day. And when work is busy, I sometimes can’t even keep up with just reading. I’ve come to notice when I’m way behind here: I start missing y’all. (Maybe that’s why I always feel compelled to acknowledge when I’m behind…?)

Bailey had her third physical therapy session on Thursday evening, and she used an aqua treadmill for the first time. I wasn’t sure how she’d tolerate being in water, because she’s never liked it, but she did great! The rehab center sent me a short video that I can’t seem to stop watching. Heh. She has three more sessions scheduled, then the rehab vet will reevaluate Bailey’s arthritis/muscle weakness. I might have to stop her PT then, though – unless I see significant improvement – because I’m hoping to start my own therapy (psychological) soon and I don’t think I can comfortably afford both. We’ll see what late October brings.

In happy news, I’ve booked another jazz singing gig – a solo show! It’s on 12/1. It isn’t unusual for venues to book 2-3 months out, and I actually appreciate it because I still have a week or two before I need to start identifying/hiring band members…and then another week or two before I have to start figuring out my set lists. :notes:

Yesterday I went to a three-hour fundraising luncheon for my NAACP branch. It was hard to get out of bed due to the cold/dark/rainy weather, and then it was hard to leave my warm and dry house (and doggy), but I’m really glad I went. I knew that one of my fellow committee members would be there, and it turned out that a third member also attended – plus, the husband of another member! And, quite coincidentally, all four of us wound up at the same table! It was great to get to meet the two other members of my committee in person (we’d only seen each other on Zoom), and it was a nice event. I was also happy that we wound up sitting with two great members of the county’s board of supervisors (the board chairman was at a reserved table, along with the county’s chief of police). I was never much of a “local politics” person, but it’s hard to avoid paying attention/caring when you volunteer with a group like the NAACP.

Today is also cold/dark/rainy, and I’m happy to have zero plans other than emptying the dishwasher (I did my laundry on Friday…go, me!). It’s after 1:30, so I’m gonna go rustle up some lunch and decamp to the living room. But I’ll read for a while before I turn the TV on: the Big Reveal in my current book is just a few pages away, and I’d rather finish it now than stay up too late tonight.

Quoted for truth!

I inherited my mom’s (complete) Wedgwood tea set, and gave up trying to sell it after 2-3 years. It’s currently being stored in a dresser drawer – each piece in its original plastic bag – and I figure one of these days I’ll have the space/get some furniture to display it.

I got my first one last year, about a week before I turned 50. (those bastards)

Air bad again today. Increases our desire to move. Make the case for moving to where you are!

I was going to use MPSIMS, but I don’t know - maybe it should be Cafe? I guess I’ll try Cafe.

ETA: @JaneDoe42 @LH75 Please post!

And VanGo! Don’t forget @Paintcharge !

I walked to the store and back before it got really hot. En route, I asked myself who’s made me so irked about this weather. The honest answer is, “All those idiots who refuse to accept that climate change is real.” As bad as it is here, susan, I can’t think of anything anywhere else that’d be better, as I’d have to put up with worse heat and/or I’d be living in a red state. I spent too many years keeping my mouth shut (Shocking, yes, but it is possible!) while subtly trying to open some rusty minds.

Guest room. They would be so hurt if we stayed elsewhere.

Incidentally, guess who took his first steps today! Life is about to get really interesting!

I’ve done a lot of packing today - maybe a dozen boxes so far, plus wrapping a few items that don’t fit the boxes. In a few minutes, I’ll pack a couple more. Then it should be supper time.

MIL contracted with a guy to clear out what remains when we’re done. He’ll sell what he can and haul the rest to the dump or the thrift store. In fact, he’ll come tomorrow for the first load of debris. He’s the SO of her across-the-street neighbor, so they’re definitely trustworthy.

I should sleep well tonight. I am whipped!!

Well, I played around in the studio most of the day. Sunday dinner was a bowl of pinto beans, a bowl of greens and a corn muffin. I’s full!

See y’all tomorrow.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, had a really gooooooooooood first Sunday brunch, sat in on the meet and great with the interim Priest (folks have a chance to sign up for one of several scheduled meetin’s) which was informative and fun. I’ve had a bunch of interaction with him due to my role in Sunday services, but for others in the group this was a first for just gettin’ to sit and chat with him. We got back to da cave where nappage, day drinkin’, and sloth have ensued. All in all a pleasant Sunday.

Nellie I use a bizkit toppin’ made from BisQuick ™, as in I make up actual bizkits to top the chikin pot pie. It was a hit btw and got all et up. Just so you know, any other need to feed (not so far) will be via forage.

Yanker jalapeños definitely count as a green veggie. Chop up a little celery and onion for your N.O.T. and, voila, two more veggies! Look at you eatin’ all healthy while the missus is gone!

red I am jealous about the pinto beans. Somebody detests 'em so I hardly ever get pinto beans which I lurve.

doggio happy slothage!

Susan why here, of course! What could be better than livin’ next to or near me.

MetalMouse hope the young’uns and you enjoyed the soccer game.

Oopsie lots goin’ on there! Yay for the gig! Glad Bailey is doin’ so well with her PT.

MOOOOOOM glad there is someone to get rid of all the miscellany. Hope the packin’ up goes smooth.

Still tired, even after a 2 hour nap this afternoon.

FCM Hope the rest of the move goes smoothly.

Gotta fix some dinner then an early night for me.

Stay safe, y’all!

I came back to add him. :persevere: I’m forgetting others. I apologize.

Glad that the PT is going well for Bailey oopsie.

swampy, should I send some pintos to Jawja via UPS? I’d even include cornbread and greens. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok, I think we have a plan and a schedule. BIL is freaking out a bit but he’ll deal. We get the truck on Tues, load it Tues and Weds, get the trailer Weds, load the car, then head out on Thurs. We’ll spend Thurs night in Lumberton and get home Firday. Unload the truck on Sat. Whew!

Mi Esposa cooked tonight. I was going to make fish & chips, but she didn’t like the idea of using Guinness (because that’s what we have) or Munchkin Red (because we have a can of that). So rather than explain it to me, she made cornmeal-breaded catfish. She made grits for herself, and I steamed some broccoli for me. (I also mixed up some more tartar sauce.) I can’t remember the last time I didn’t have to cook!

I took a long nap. First I dreamed I was at work and one of the belt diverters hit my foot. I woke up with a foot cramp. Then I dream I moved to a new place, and a possum adopted me, and was following me around.

I’m having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned, since the Packers gave me angina today. :football: :cheese: :tumbler_glass:

Happy Sunday!

Cold and wet at the park this morning. I’m surprised four people showed up. I really didn’t want to get out of bed. I went because Lui mom said she was going, then she backed out at the last minute.
I got extra wet because Urban decided to wipe his face on me, and Coco rubbed her entire body against me, and then Urban, Coco, and Echo made big splashes in the mud puddle next to the pavilion.

I didn’t do much of anything today but take naps and a long hot bath.
I don’t even care at this point that I got nothing done.
Shit starts again tomorrow.
I got to call the PO first thing, because if they try to deliver the letters tomorrow, nobody will be home.
We have to take the dogs to daycare, then my son to the MVA, and later I have a doctor’s appointment. I have prescriptions waiting to be picked up, I’ll get those on the way back from the doctor, since I’ll pass by CVS on the way home.
I’d better make a list so I don’t forget. I need to get all the paperirk together tonight for the MVA. We probably won’t need it, as my son has a RealID, but if we don’t take it, we’ll for sure need it.
In between MVA and the doctor, I have a bunch of phone calls to make.
Ripple is past due for his annual checkup. I wish they could do it at daycare tomorrow, but I know he won’t let them.

FCM - sorry you are going through so much mess.

Slothage was the order of the day. Sonny boy bought a black stone like griddle so that was the excitement today. Burgers and fries was supper.

Red your supper sounds Devine. I love pinto, turnip greens and cornbread.

FCM. This too shall pass and I know it can’t come soon enough. I agree y’all need and deserve a real vacation. BTW little cutie walking made my day.

Evening all. Attended two soccer games at the local College (and in keeping with my luck this season, the home team lost both the men’s and women’s games). Then decided to get the Great October Shopping done early and stopped at Wal-Mart and also stopped at Jersey Mike’s for a ‘giant’ sub, half of which I ate tonight and the other half tomorrow for lunch. Must have gobbled it to fast, got a ache in my belly like I had to throw up, but it went away fast as it came on with no upchucking. And that’s about as exciting as my day has been, but I’m awful tired and it’s nearly 11pm, so I’ll be heading to bed here shortly.

Have read all but retained little, so hopefully as the OP says, we had a good week in the MMP and are ready for the next one. Catch all y’all on the next MMP.

Well raven our alley cat that ive been writing about fro the past year or so finally couldn’t fight anymore and passed away a few minutes ago

Will be holding you in my thoughts :candle:. When you can, come back and share some happy stories about her.

I’m sorry shady. Even when you expect it, there’s still sadness.
