Tacos dorados have been requested for ‘dinner’. (In quotes because SWMBO insists on eating early.)
doggio, I hope that your phone comes before the old one completely dies.
bumba, I like pineapple on pizza with Canadian bacon or ham.
I bought the coffee and filled the freezer with meat (there may just have been one of those teeny tiny B&J chubby hubby in my basket too ). I got the car cleaned out for the trip Thursday, potted the ginger that had sprouted and fixed a smoked poke chop with brown rice, red eye gravy and green beans for supper. Once that settles, that mini of ice cream may have to appear.
Howdy Y’all! Chikin pot pie got made and then a day of sloth, nappage, day drinkin’ and general overall uselessness ensued. We et sammiches and chips as the need warranted. Now sloth continues.
MOOOOOOM glad y’all made it safe and sound.
doggio so do you have the new phone? Also, you can always say you did shots today.
Whooo, boy, is there a lot of crap to pack. Hope the truck will be big enough.
But that’s for another day. I need sleep.
Evening all. Refereed twice (8:30 and 9:45am) and coached twice (11:00am and 1:00pm) in beautiful cloudless weather, starting at about 60F and getting to 75F. Which explains my getting home about 3pm and doing absolutely nothing of import for the next 3 hours. Have fed myself and will be doing some internet things, but these Saturdays really wear me down (it only hurts when I stop).
Tomorrow would be a day of rest but I’m going to a College soccer game with some of my players, hope they enjoy it.
FCM, glad you made the drive safely. Rest up tonight.
Hippie, nice piece of art; did you put in a bid or two?
Taters, glad the Ottoman arrived…probably came from the Turks…
Bumba, happy house cleaning!
Nascar (best I can come up with for racer72 right now, better suggestions wanted), retirement is a good thing, been retired for over 7 years now and quite happy about it. And would love to see a pic of those multimeter lamps.
VanGo, have they told you 'it’s being processed" yet? Schools can be a slow payer just from the bureaucracy most have. Stay after them.
Taters, hope the grandkids are doing better, never been bitten at daycare but I remember one night…
And while I was lucky see Mt. Rainer from Seattle (it was apparently one of the 2-3 days of the year it appears), never been to the Park (another addition to the Book of Things I Want To Do).
Yeahs, Boos, Hugs and Tears to all in whatever proportion you need. Now to struggle in staying awake until 10pm (it’s only 7:40 now) so I can sleep to a decent hour.
Take care all.
This place was full of valuable antiques. That handkerchief display was $350.00. There was a lot of really extraordinary stuff but all out of our price range. There was a period original settee and two chairs that were priced at $3000.00. An authentic Tiffany chandelier sold for $2500.00 while we were there.
We mostly go to the estate sales to see the fancy houses. We I have upgraded all of my cookware to All Clad over the last couple of years and we have made some incredible scores but mostly it is a way to pass the time interestingly on the weekends.
@taters, are you dealing with smoke out your way? It’s been pretty smoky here today. Also, hope the grands are doing better.
FCM, glad you made it safe and sound. Hope you sleep well and that packing up tomorrow goes well. I hope you’re told often what a good DIL you are!
MetalMouse, hope YOU enjoy the college soccer game, too. How nice of you to take the kiddos.
I had an epiphany about ham and pineapple on pizza. I think I’d be OK with it if it weren’t called pizza and was some kind of crust with BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, ham, and pineapple. In fact, I might even enjoy it. Hey, that’s a big step for me.
Happy Saturday!
I always say happy, but I don’t always mean it.
Rainy morning at the park. We were okay until the wind started, then it was just a little bit too chilly.
The dogs were wired at first. I used the cane instead of the walker today, and Coco ran right between me and the cane.
In the good news department today, all this rain and the basement isn’t leaking. The downspout still isn’t fixed, but my son found where the water was running into the house. I had some bags of sand in the shed and he filled the hole with sand.
I got a new number to call to get somebody out to replace the downspout.
In the very pissed off department.
I got notices from the PO on the 28th. They were dated the 27th, saying that they tried to deliver a letter and nobody was home.
That is a lie. I was home both days, sitting in the living room where I can hear the door, AND the dogs always run to the door for the mailman because Ripple likes to bring me the mail.
I tried to schedule a redelivery online and it was rejected because the tracking number was invalid.
I tried again the next day, and once again, the tracking number was invalid.
I called the number on the notice, the guy asked for the tracking number and he told me that what I gave him was NOT a tracking number and to call the local PO.
Since the local was closed by that time, I tried scanning the QR code, and once again the tracking number is invalid.
I called the local PO yesterday and they told me it would go out for redelivery today.
My son stayed up, and both of us sat in the living room waiting, and nobody showed up.
I am so PISSED, I am so tired of incompetent assholes, I am so tired of cleaning up messes I didn’t make, and dealing with assholes who don’t want or care to do their jobs.
Every fucking thing lately is a problem.
The other irritant today is we are getting new neighbors. I don’t know yet if they will be assholes like the last ones. However, Ripple spent most of the day at the window playing aggressive guard dog. It’s nice that he wants to protect the house, but he doesn’t need to bark so much. I think Echo, who sits and stares without making a sound, is more intimidating.
At least it is the only time he barks.
Yesterday at the park, half the dogs went on the small dog side. Barky mom commented on it, I didn’t have the heart to say it’s because of her. Humpy was in fine form though, and somebody said we need to start a hump registry for the offenders. We can take their mugshots, laminate them, and hang them in the pavilion.
Glad you had a safe trip FCM
I don’t remember who asked, but I live in western Maryland, in a small city in a rural county. People are starting to refer to this place as Little Baltimore. It’s nowhere near as bad as Baltimore, but it is starting to head down that path.
Hippie, you do beautiful work.
The flue hasn’t been fixed yet at my mother’s house. I showed the pics to Lucy dad, he used to do that kind of irk and his brother still does. He said it shouldn’t be more than $400. It will be more, it always is. However, my mother had one of those home warranty things and it’s covered, so it may not cost much at all. NIece2 is still without heat though, and it is chilly down there.
JtC, you are probably right that I am grieving, even though I’m angry, not sad.
I know I’ve missed a lot that is going on.
Ugh, I’m sooo tired. It’s 9:30 and I must to bed. Dunno what’s wrong with me.
I hope you feel better in the morning.
Only a little smoke here today, so we were able to have people over outside (4th time’s the charm).
OMG! What a cluster fiasco this is going to be. BIL is freaking out about renewing the tags on his car… the car that he’ll be selling this week. The tags are good till the end of the month. Oh, and he claims he never had a title for his car, so that will be fun. He’s pretty much melting down.
MIL has some packed boxes and piles of crap all over the place. And 3 boxes left. And no paper for wrapping the glassware. I don’t know how long it will take to pack all their crap. And she wants to take her Wedgewood china to try to sell it to a consignment store. But nobody wants china, especially an incomplete set.
FIL has fallen 3 times today. He refuses to use his walker. His “shop” is a disaster and he refuses to leave any of it. But he can no longer do anything, at least not safely. So we’ll take it all and cram it into FCD’s shop till we can throw it away.
Tomorrow, we’ll go to Lowe’s or WalMart and get more packing materials. At 3, we’re meeting with the couple who will do the estate/yard sale. MIL keeps fretting over stuff that does not matter. FCD is beyond stressed already. And I don’t think I can leave when I planned to.
It’s only going to get worse.
So the COVID arm is slightly more sore than the flu ar. But still feel fine so far. But to add insult to injury, I got an AARP membership letter in the mail today.
No, but thanks to Google and Samsung Cloud, all my data is backed up.
{{{{{FairyChats}}}}}
I got my first at 28 years old. Right around the time I saw my first gray hair.
The cats are amusing today. Allie’s still considerably less than enchanted by even having a feline brother, which seems to trouble Buddy. I still think he wants to be friends with her. He is picking up quirks from her such as “A stranger at the door? Run and hide!” and now “Mom needs supervision when she’s in the tub”. He won’t get on the edge of the tub (Allie will), since he seems to find the whole deal with a large container of water worrisome. The counter or the toilet lid are as close as he’ll get, but he’ll stick around at least as long as Allie does.
This evening. once she was done getting a drink from the tub, she hopped down and settled on the floor so Buddy couldn’t get near me without getting past her.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 56 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 82 and N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization followed by first Sunday brunch. I shall make the toppin’ for the chikin pot pie pie in a little while and let it all bake whilst I purtify. Beyond that, the usual sloth shall ensue.
Sari sorry you are havin’ such problems with the p.o. Hope you get the package soonest. doggio and you should form a club.
doggio you got bifocals. This triggers an automatic AARP invite. Hope the covid arm is less sore today. Mine no longer feels achy.
MOOOOOOM packin’ up is by nature always stressful. Folks are gonna freak out over the smallest of things. Hope you’re able to get it done and get out of there soonest.
Nettie siblin’ rivalry, how sweet!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I must alas, alack, and oh so much bother commence purtification for deheathenization.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
Good morning everyone. 5 something AM here in NTX, with 53F outside and 84 predicted. Up and coffee-ing, recovering from the latest bout of getting old (back and neck probs). Getting ready for another bachelor-ing week, as the missus is headed to South TX to provide kiddo support (bad breakup). My personal opinion is: “SO was a jerk, what took you so long?” but the wife is better at this stuff and advises I keep my opinions to myself. Anyway, just me and the dog for a week, and I’m thawing some baby backs now, and will head to the store later for all the supplies for Tuesday’s smoke-fest (hickory, not tobacco). Wife gave me a healthy grocery list with green stuff like broccoli, but I’ll cross that out and get the ingredients for salsa, homemade potato salad, and chips n stuff. And beer. And stuff for homemade BBQ sauce of course. I will get some green things like Jalapenos – they’re healthy, right?
Yes yes! I have just completed a long project, and need a place which welcomes nerdiness and geekery so I can tell about it. The general reaction to my brilliant creativeness around here seems to be eyes glazing over and distracted nodding. I await this thread anxiously. Where would it go? Cafe?
Ditto. Glad you’re safe. The last time I moved a relative, I told my wife I wanted to use a match, instead of a UHaul – and just buy some used furniture in the new town. I swear sometimes it might be easier. I read your posts with sympathy and dread for my own time in this barrel. I recently toured my aging parents’ 3 (yes 3!) large storage buildings, and the huge basement full of everything from old electrical wire to their first toaster. There is, quite literally, enough acquired stuff to fill an 18-wheeler. And it will be mine to handle someday. Sigh.
Hope everyone has a good rest of the week.
We’re about to go out to breakfast, for a brief island of sanity before the day begins. I don’t think I got 4 hours of sleep. Long day ahead…
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall clean and sloth.
You have my sympathies Moooooom. You’re dealing with more than most folks could.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a pot of pintos and a pot of turnip / mustard greens on. Mostly sloth and farting around in the studio slated for today.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Good morning everyone.
It’s currently 51 degrees with an expected high of 82 and sunny skies.
nellie, I did smell smoke yesterday, so apparently smoke is still drifting down from Bolt Creek or we’re getting smoke from the Goat Rocks Wilderness fire down towards Mt St Helens.
mom, I really hope things go more smoothly than you anticipate. It would have almost been easier to have them out of the way so you can get the job done without their input. I know that’s not really an option for you.
Nothing exciting on the agenda for today; laundry, chores, etc. Tonight is trash tv night, but I don’t think I’m going to make it past 8:30 today. I had a restless night filled and when I did drop off to sleep I had disturbing and uncomfortable dreams.
Morning all. Slept well and have collected newspaper/taken pill and done my Sunday internettin’. Will bathe and head out to Longhorn for dinner prior to the soccer games, which should take up the afternoon. We’ll see how the evening goes.
FCM, hang in there, things will work out, sounds like BIL is dropping problems just when you don’t need them.
Sari, hope the new neighbors are good folks who like dogs. You deserve some peace of mind.
OK, need to start the bath and make myself presentable. All y’all have a good Sunday.
