Let's all have a good week in the MMP

Two post attempts didn’t go thru. Will this one?

We’re closing in on Lumberton NC. All in all, a decent trek so far.

Halfway through my second cuppa joe. It’s starting to get light outside.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 49 degrees with an expected high of 80 and sunny skies.

I’ve been awake for a while, but gave up and left the bed at 5:45. There’s no sleeping in with the husband tossing, turning, and scratching. He finally gave up and got out of bed about 15 minutes ago, but I booted him upstairs to his VR computer so I could have some proper quiet time. I need my morning quiet when it’s just me or me and the dog.

The birthday party for my grandson has been canceled. My granddaughter got sick at daycare yesterday and had to be picked up. Once home, she didn’t feel any better and barfed at home too. So, rather than risk passing something along to my mother and the rest of us, my daughter canceled the party. Even if Zoe felt better today, she’d probably be wiped. Adam, my son, received a nasty bite at daycare yesterday. That’s the second kid who’s bitten him. Those poor kiddos had a rough day!

The toilet seat in the powder room broke on one side last night (where it bolts to the toilet), so I guess I’ll get a new toilet seat today. Sooo thrilling, lol!

Maybe I can talk the hubs into taking a drive tomorrow. I want to get out of the house, but I don’t want to be surrounded by people either. I’d like to go to Mt. Rainier, but it’ll be slammed and there will be no place to park. I miss “my” Mt. Rainier; the one you could go to on a whim and not find crowded at all. Mt Rainier National Park is the 18th most visited park, according to stats from February 2022.

I’m glad your trek has been decent so far, FCM. I hope the trend continues.

doggio, I’m sorry to read about the phone not being delivered. I’d be pretty irritated too. I really hope it shows up today, but if not, I hope you get a replacement soonest. Is there a way to just go to a brick-and-mortar place for the replacement since you can’t rely on delivery? I know, it seems ridiculous that you have to further inconvenience yourself since someone is being dishonest, but at least you’d have a replacement.

I think I’m going to try and get the lawn mowed today too. It’s pretty shaggy and it hasn’t been done for two weeks.

Alright, time to tidy the kitchen and take care of some other minor chores.

I’ve been to the shop, applied a coat of finish to the current batch of stuff so’s it can be picked up monday. Then I can get paid. I like getting paid, and I want the school district to pay me for the stuff I delivered 2 weeks ago.

Elsewise, gonna attempt to follow swampy’s lead and have a day of sloth an’ day drinkin’. Don’t have a ceemint pond, and if’n I did it’s far too cold for that kind of behavior, tis a rousing 55 out there. Perhaps build some chili later.

Safe travels, FCM

Been a good week already. Bought some outdated test equipment at a garage sale a few months ago. Converted 2 old multimeters into lamps, looking for a steampunk vibe. Listed both on Etsy for what my wife thought was a crazy high prices, sold one in only 12 hours. Got it boxed and taking to to the post office this morning. Today is also the 2nd anniversary of my retirement from Boeing, I have enjoyed every minute of it. And on Monday, hit the big 66. This growing old is the only thing I am finding out that can really suck.

Bear?

Hippie and JtC and VanGo I’m thinking that I will start a “things I made” thread so that people can post pictures, like they do in the pet thread.

Yesterday sucketh mightily. Hubby temporarily lost his shit and the rest of day was spent striving to ignore his ranting. He had some things going on at work and was frustrated and angry.

House purchase proceeds apace. We should get the keys on the 20th. Now I have to figure out how to get our things over to the new place and get everything cleaned and ready for the tenants. I am ready for this to be over.

Take care and Happy Saturday!

Jawja!! About four anna half hours to go!

We were shorthanded. Secondary Sort lost power.
Also:
Sending you kid a care package: Good.
Sending a 92lbs package of loose energy drinks, big jars of PB and jelly, and small single apple sauces without any wrapping or filling: WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?

I think Flyboy found it.

It’s a beautiful. sunshiny day here with a projected high of 77º. If I stick out my tongue at the sun, do you think it’d get the hint and drag in some clouds to hide behind? I’m so envious of other people’s rainy weather. May I borrow a cup of rain? :cloud_with_rain: Well, not the hurricane aftermath. I don’t want to borrow a cup of that.

Am I the only one who worries about people who usually post often and then don’t? I know it’s supposed to be all casual here, but I’m concerned about wordy because of her mom’s health and also about shoe because of her rough times.

doggio, hope you can get a replacement phone pronto. Was the delivery company the one that kinda rhymes with “medics”?

flyboy, you can get COVID shots as a walk-in? All the places here are appointment-only, even those that used to take walk-ins. My son in Seattle says it’s the same there. Anyway, hope you can get one. Does Mrs. LA already have hers, being a nurse and all?

dice, your dad’s butter pecan ice cream must have been scrumptious if Tillamook pales by comparison. Butter pecan was my dad’s favorite ice cream flavor, and I always think of him when I see it. Dang it, now I want some, and it’d never survive the walk home from the store.

sunny, the “Things I Made” thread is a fantastic idea! I hope your hubs is in a better frame of mind today. I get it that people need to vent at home, but it’s not too nice for others who live there. So exciting that in 3 weeks, you’ll be in the new place!

Taters, I know just what you mean about the “my mountain” thing. I didn’t know Mt. Rainier before the hordes descended, and I find the crowds kind of annoying. Even though most people are very nice, it kind of defeats the purpose of being up there, doesn’t it? I had a “my mountain” in Wyoming, but it seldom had many people on the trails.

I’ll be thinking about you guys, Mom.
I actually think about all youse guys, but I just don’t always say so.

Yesterday I went to the ‘big city’ to visit an eye doctor. What with the moving and all, it’s been two years since I’ve seen one. I had my cataracts out some years ago and my stats don’t change anymore, but because of the diabetes I’m supposed to have other things checked once a year. So I did. Finally. Now if I can just find a dentist that has time for me.

It takes 4 or 5 gallons of gas to drive up there, so we try to multi-task while there and so i went to 2 grocery stores while there. One just for the dog food we want Gibbs to eat that we can’t get anywhere else, and the other to take advantage of some sales. I scored 3 pounds of good bacon for $1.97/lb! I also got a couple of their store brand pepperoni pizzas for $3 apiece. (That’s the onliest type they had left in the pizza case.)
#warning# Some of you may want to skip this next section.
I also bought a medium can of pineapple tidbits, which I drained and put on one of the pizzas, which I ate half of for dinner. (they’re small, and Gibbs helped.) A spicy Canadian.

Wifey has been in the valley for 2 days. She’ll be back tonight. Her bestest bud, and painting partner, had a sister who lived in California with her son, who is in a wheelchair. (motorcycle accident.) Well, sister was in ill health and wanted to move up to Oregon to be close to her sister (Wifey’s BFF) Wifey found them a nice, one level house up here and handled the purchase a couple of years ago. Well, sister died earlier this year and her son decided to move into an assisted living sort of place and sell the house, so Wifey is over there setting up the listing and helping to get the house ready. Also, when it sell, and it will, it’ll be a nice chunk of change in our pockets. Big houses with the living areas all on one level are kinda rare and much sought-after around there.

Anyway, Wifey called me last night to remind me that our son and his wife and one of their kids are coming over here today on their way to visit her (DIL) parents east of here. Her mom is in early onset dementia and DIL wants to spend as much time with her as possible. Anyway, thy’ll spend the night here and go on over tomorrow. Wifey wants me to clean house. This is a big deal as she usually doesn’t want me to clean that much because I "don’t do it right." (I do it just fine, thankyouverymuch.

So that’s what is on the docket today.

Also I’m supposed to make curry for dinner. We have no idea if they will eat curry or not. Life’s hard like that. I’ll try to have something else available too. There’s always that other pizza.

Actually, we could always walk down the street to the tavern. They make a good burger there, although, since they hired a new cook, their fish-n-chips suck these days.

I lurves some good fish-n-chips and bemoan the fact that all the little fish-n-chips shops of my youth seem to be gone now. At least in Orygun.

That’s enuff

Flarduh

There’s a very good one in Albany by the train station (called The Depot), if you’re ever that way.

About an hour ago I saw some sort of raptor making off with a black squirrel out of a large cedar in the back yard. Since it was taking off from the tree, I’m guessing it was an owl. From what I’ve seen, hawks and falcons prefer more open terrain.

I like pineapple on pizza, Bumba! You’re alright in my book!

You all may or may not remember that I purchased a new sofa and love seat in February. The long-awaited ottoman is finally going to be delivered on the 12th of October. That thing took over eight months to get here, but it had to actually be made in Italy and then came over on a boat that apparently circumnavigated the globe or something. At any rate, it’s finally going to arrive. At first, I was just going to go pick it up at the warehouse, but then I got to thinking and wondering if it would fit in the back of the Jeep. It’s been so long, I can’t clearly picture it and they don’t show it on their website anymore. So, I called Dania back and said I’d changed my mind and that I want it delivered. I could just see us going to the warehouse to pick it up, having to wait up to 30 minutes, and then finding out the ottoman wouldn’t fit. My husband would be pitching a royal fit, so I gulped and paid the $109.00 delivery fee. I think it’s outrageous, but it saves time and hassle for me.

I suppose I should do something, but I don’t feel like it.

Except it was flu and COVID, not tequila and Fireball. Vaccines instead of liquor, progressive lenses, hurting knees, next thing you know I’ll be wearing an onion on my belt.

Yeah.

Unlike last time, the driver did leave it at the office, instead of delivering it to me while I was sitting in my living room. Still irked. And it was da Jungle that did it.

@JaneDoe42

We went to an estate sale this morning at a turn of the century Victorian mansion. The house was beautiful and everything was very elegant. This was leaning against a bedroom wall. My wife had seen something like it once and said that these were framed ladie’s handkerchiefs.

The close up made me think of your work:

Mowage achieved. I predict one or two more this season.

And we’re here. More later.

Congratulations on this stage of the move!
