Let's all have a good week in the MMP

Howdy Y’all! We got stabbed and have since been great big ol’ sloths and layabouts. I have a low grade fever (no biggie as I tend to run cold) and my right arm is a little achy. OYKW says his left arm is a little achy and he feels a little ick. If we go true to form, tomorrow I will feel fine whilst he will be puny most othe day. Seems to get to him more the day after. We finished up the leftovers for sup and now continue to sloths and layabouts.

BooFae how dare you not fill the water filter jug! You made 'im indoors have to wait all of two to three minutes.

Taters I hope you get whichever gig suits you the best.

MOOOOOOM I know y’all are leavin’ in the mornin’. Here’s hopin’ for a smooth trip down and back and a smooth transition for the inlaws to the apartment. Once all is said and done and everyone is settled in, FCD and you deserve a nice break.

red I do hope you did not greatly disturb Nelson’s much needed slumber.

Boo I like to fry okra with a little green tomato, a little banana pepper, and a little sweet onion thrown in for good measure. The trick is to fine chop the tomato, pepper, and onion. I batter it all in flour, add a little salt and pepper for seasioning and fry it in a skillet (I prefer cast iron) with a little oil in the bottom of the skillet. Let the skillet and oil get hot, but you know that. You may have to add some oil as you go along. So good!

Well, this ain’t starting well. On my way home after picking up the lo mein, I started hearing a thudding and feeling a shudder in the steering wheel. It varied with speed. So it’s back at the shop, and we’ll take FCD’s car. The problem with that is it’s only 2-doors, so MIL will have to climb into the back. Plus the trunk is smaller than mine. But we’ll do what we have to do. Still leaving in the dark of the morning.

Rain has started here - not heavy, but it’s supposed to continue all night. With luck, by the time the sun comes up and I can take over driving, we’ll be out of the rain.

Let’s just act on the theory that the worst has happened and it’ll be smooth sailing from here.

Dammit.

Before you give up on this, I had the same thing happen to my car shortly after I’d had everything gone through at the shop. After having the car towed and the shop spending FIVE DAYS trying to figure out what the problem was, it turned out to be… lug nuts they’d forgotten to tighten on all 4 tires when they rotated them on the previous visit.

Might be worth a call to the shop to have them check this first. I hope it turns out to be something this stupid simple.

nellie, if you lived closer, I know that you and Nelson would hit it off.

doggio, re the bifocals, welcome to middle age!

The lug nuts are worth a check Mooooooom. But I’m glad that it popped up now instead of 100 miles down the road.

Housework is done, groceries (except for coffee and meat that will require a trip to the 'Boro tomorrow) bought and supper et. I noticed lately that Kroger is becoming very competitive with Aldi on a lot of items. Given that bleach and TP were on the list, I spent more than usual and tomorrow, I’ll pick up a couple of months worth of meat and coffee.

Talked to Sis. She’s coming up next Wednesday and we’ll go in tandem to Indiana Thursday. I’ll stay until Sunday, but she’ll be there until the following Thursday.

16:15, and we’ve just finished dinner. I made Caprese salad with tomatoes we grew ourselves, fresh mozzarella from Trader Joe’s, basil picked off of a living plant, California Olive Ranch olive oil, Trader Giotto’s balsamic vinegar, and kosher salt. I was going to make cauliflower gnocchi, but The Missus was full from the salad. So I had a tin of Angelo Parodi sardines in olive oil and chili peppers to top it off. Wifey made drinks. I know there’s Jack Daniels in them, and I think brandy. Just about to finish number 2.

A good Caprese salad is a meal in itself. It’s 1/2 of the way to being a margarita pizza.

I’ll be out of here in half an hour and then it’s on with the weekend. I hope my geezer-dose of flu vaccine I got over the lunch hour doesn’t knock me for a loop. I’d rather do something fun on my Saturday, like go out for tempura udon for lunch.

We also have to do some heavy lifting in the backyard to put some decorative retaining stones in place. We’ll see how I feel.

I should probably get my flu shot and Covid shot tomorrow. Don’t know if I will. I just ad a SARS-Cov-19 in June, but my immunisation record says I’m due again.

Our car guy is pretty meticulous so I know he’ll figure it out. He’s taken good care of our vehicles for over 16 years. But we’re leaving in the dark, so he’ll have a week. Plus they’re not open on Sat anyway.

Ok, dishwasher running, kitchen trash out, plants watered, cat box clean, cat kibbles refilled, critter fountain full, lamps on timers, lunch packed… Gotta run downstairs for luggage so we can pack.

Whew!

Ah, wasn’t remembering the time difference between us.

I’ve had the same folks look after my vehicle for 15 years as well, and they’re not slouches. The reason it took 5 days for them to figure out what was wrong is because no one could fathom any mechanic doing something so boneheaded. The fellow nearly lost his job.

I had hoped for a quick fix for you, but I’m sure you have it all well in hand.

Safe journey.

Travel well, you all!

Thank all of you for the kind words regarding my efforts at quilting. I am having a great time with it and hopefully getting better as time goes on

Evening all. Coached soccer and tomorrow will referee at 8:30am and coach at 11:00am and 1:00pm. How many kids show up is still the great unknown what with Fall Break beginning today. Let Mickey D’s feed me tonight, tomorrow will be much more problematic when it comes to eating.

FCM, safe journey and hope it stays dry for you.

lucky, should be ok, didn’t do much to me this year.

Taters, Firdays tend to bring out the clock-watcher in all of us.

OK, need to shut down, finish my Sudoku’s and head off to bed for an early morning alarm. All y’all take care.

The rain continues, and Princess Pretty Paws in not happy. Also, I order a new phone from da Jungle to replace my dying one, and it was marked as “delivered to the office”. Even though I was home. And the leasing office doesn’t take packages since the pandemic. @%&^*! driver stole my phone. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

And my bad knee was hurting today. Get off my lawn. :person_white_hair:

Safe travels, FCM!

doggio The incoming low pressure from the storm is prolly what got your knee. That’s usually what gets mine. Hope the phone shows up. And hope it wasn’t your colleagues who had the package. And stay safe in the remnants of the storm.

FCM Safe travels!

I am including my praise with the rest, great work! As one recently retired person to another, isn’t it great to be able to indulge yourself like this?

I haven’t been posting because every so often I look at my keyboard and say Nah, not today. It was almost a year after I retired that I was able to force myself back online and I still walk away when I get tired of it.

I am in agreement with FCM that the worse has happened for her trip so far and everything else will be smooth sailing. I am a pro with positive thinking! But I’m still crossing my fingers.

Maybe not, I’ve noticed that things are marked delivered one day and actually show up the next. Of course, we have contract delivery people out this way and you might have real ones which could make a difference. Or not.

At least the Jungle is good about resolving conflict in favor of the customer.

I ordered some bamboo blinds for the porch. We have too much wind to hang a 100 inch width blind, so I bought two 46 inchers. Hopefully the climbing roses will have recovered by the time the blinds are trashed by the sun which wouldn’t have been beating on them if the roses were still there. Yes, I am still upset, does it show?

Tomorrow is Mayer Days and we are planning to go around 10ish. I love the local vendors and buy a lot of Christmas presents from them. The big thing this year seems to be quilted bowl cozies, I’m sure they will be useful to my Secret Santa. Hubs rolled his eyes when I bought ours last year but I sure do see him using them often.

(I also bought a rolling cart which I thought would be useful for bringing groceries up the ramp. Hubs rolled his eyes and refused to help me put it together. He uses it almost daily. I roll my eyes at it sometimes)

Remember that rabbit fur ball I bought for GG? The one he slimed up with his gooshy fud mouth? I rinsed it off with RO water and it cleaned up well enough to be acceptable for further play, until it ended up in his water fountain. The fountain is in the catio because we got tired of GG splashing water all over the place…it was actually video worthy, he sits next to the fountain and spreads his big foot into snowshoe size and starts running his paw around in the water while feeling it moving between his toes, then gets all happy and slaps water all over the place.

So anyhow, fur balls come apart when left in a fountain and the pump will suck up the hair until it gets clogged and then just silently dies. Usually they scream when they are mortally wounded which gives us time to save them.

Of course we have a spare pump, we have an entire spare fountain because hubs doesn’t want to risk our cats having to drink water out of a bowl. We also have a spare litter robot in the shed because hubs…

I’m guessing we are going to go into town after the fair so hubs can buy GG some more fur balls.

Buying a kitten didn’t seem to work as well as I was hoping and I’m thinking that the Evil Twin thing isn’t working out either. Last night I walked by hubs comp and noticed that they were killing monsters together.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Wonder how many call outs we’ll have. The rain has stopped, but there’s still some wind.

We have both. But I was home when it was “signed for at the front desk”, so there wasn’t an attempt. And last time it happened, they had to send a new item. Which sucks, because my current phone is dying right now.

Well, when I make it out there, I’ll take hubs, GG, and the surplus beer off your hand for a bit. :cat: :beers:

I just learned that this is a thing. I have some very non-MMP-approved words to say about such a thing. It is horrid.

FCM, great news about RoxStar’s library card. Hope the FL trip and subsequent IL stay goes better than expected. And that you get to spend some time on that boat you bought, with good weather and just FCD.

Metal Mouse, I finally got a butter pecan in a waffle cone. It wasn’t as good as I remembered, but maybe because it was commercial (Tillamook) and not my dad’s recipe. I have to get his recipe and try it.

Hippie and JtC, I am in awe of your craftiness.

Nellie we went to Ballard locks while we were in the PNW and got to see the fish, 2 seals, hear a ranger talk, and watch 2 lock cycles, one in each direction. We’ve decided that Chinook’s (actually Little Chinook’s) has the best clam strips. It’s fun to do tourist things.

My dad swears that the autumnal rains always start by October 15th. I hope they come and stay a while. I was schocked to see everything so brown.

doggio, you need to keep up. I’ve had bifocals for 4-5 years already, but then I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 10. I think I need new bifocals for work (I have separate glasses for walking around and sitting at the computer), but I don’t wanna do yet another medical appointment. Hope the phone shows up.

Mostly unpacked, but have to figure out what to do with the stuff (mostly cookies) we bought in the US. Weather is sort of blah, and I seem to have forgotten how to speak German. At least, it’s a bit rusty after 4 weeks of not using it at all.

Had to cancel my hair appointment before vacation because of Covid, and finally made a new appointment on October 29th. Last appointment was in July. Last time I had so much time between appointments was in spring 2020, and my hair is longer. I’ll definitely be shaggy by then.

Need to make appointments for flu shots, or maybe we can do a walk in at the pharmacy. Have to go next week anyway to pick up a prescription. Since we had Covid at the end of August, have to wait until end of November for the new booster, if I understand the recommendations correctly. They will open up the vaccine centers on October 10th, so it will probably be end of November before we can get in anyway, if they go by age. I guess we’ll see.

Today is the first proper grocery shopping since vacation, so I need to make a list. The grass needs mowing, but it’s still drizzling. Thursday we got about 2 inches of rain, so it’ll take some time to dry out. Tomorrow it’ll be warmer, and it will clear up, so probably the grass will get mown on Monday afternoon.

Probably should take the car out for a short drive - 4 weeks is a long time to go without driving, so I hope it starts.

I’ll be watching for FCM updates - save travels.

Hmmm. My PCP OKed me getting the latest booster a few days ago when I was in her office anyway, and I had Covid about the same time you did.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! YAWN ‘Tis 54 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 85 and N.O.S. No biggie plans at all today except for makin’ a chikin pot pie to take to first Sunday brunch tomorrow. Well, everything but the crust, which will get made tomorrow mornin’ just prior to bakin’. Othe than that, sloth shall rule the day. We are not goin’ anywhere cause we don’t need to, have to or want to and nobody can make us. I feel pretty good this mornin’. OYKW is still abed, so don’t know if’n he’s all puny or not yet. Any need to feed will be via forage as we have plenty of sammich makin’s etc.

MOOOOOOM I assume y’all are on the road as I post. Be safe.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Have a safe trip Mooooom!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and am cuddling a sleepy little dog. At some point, I’ll purtify to head to the 'Boro, but for now, I’m fixing to play around in the studio.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
