This recipe for shrimp 'n grits is what I do. The recipe I use is from a Junior League (shudder) cookbook from Mobile, Alabammy.

thanks everyone what makes me maddest is it ripped my warmest sweater…
New windshield is in, got the inspection stickers replaced – which had never occurred to me, and worked. My hopes are to have a dull day at home before work tomorrow.
Drop off a bill for a new sweater. Glad you’re ok.
TGIF! Traffic was really light, due to the gummint shutdown… again. Yanno, if us ordinary folk performed our assigned duties the way our elected representatives do, we’d all be pounding the pavement in no time. We need to fire the lot of 'em and start from scratch. Fill the House and Senate with people who know what a budget is and know what it means to get stuff done. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
OK, I’m done. I woke up angry because of a dream. It involved a breakfast buffet that cost $27.50!!! And I never could get to the buffet to see what the heck was worth that kind of money. I decided to find the server and tell her I wanted to order off the menu instead, but when I got back to my table, all the furniture had been rearranged and I woke up furious!!! Not a good way to start the day. I’m finally calming down, previous paragraph notwithstanding.
Happy Firday! I am so ready for the weekend!
How big is the dog, because fur makes for warmth. Just sayin’ ![]()
Parade was an absolute sea of humanity; never seen a crowd that packed in & deep before.
blurfage I don’t know what they did to me in the OR yesterday cause I am sore all over. Every muscle I have aches. All in all the sinuses do not hurt hardly at all. The dry mouth is driving me bonkers. Whine ensues
.
TGIF I thought it was the day to do payroll so I got logged in from home which is a miracle in itself. Today is payday not payroll day.
Happy Firday!
It isn’t really happy but I can pretend.
It’s a N.O.S. 23 degrees outside and it’s supposed to get up to 41.
Here’s to the ice melting because we need to go out today. The roads and front sidewalk have been clear, but I’m parked out back.
That sidewalk is all iced over and I have no idea what the alley is like.
I overslept this morning and logged in 1 minute late. The PTB won’t say anything about 1 minute, however I haven’t even looked outside yet. The dog is snoring away, he is a sleepy head in the morning. Many mornings he will go back to bed without going out and sleep for a few more hours.
My Yasmine was the same way, except instead of sleeping through the alarm like Ripple does, she would growl at it until I turned it off.
The cat has a death wish this morning. He stands right next to his scratching post and scratches the couch.
Hope you feel better soon Butters.
Morning all. Need to return the rental equipment for drying my carpet (and re-rent the air blower, it seemed to be the most effective).
Saw Neil DeGrasse Tyson last night, packed house for an astrophysicist in Alabama. (I grant you, Huntsville, with the US Army and NASA in town, isn’t average Ali-bama). He spoke for nearly two hours, not his most compelling talk but still held me for the entire time. The end was the best part, with a picture the Cassini spacecraft had taken of Earth last year from Saturn (see here: https://www.nasa.gov/sites/default/files/thumbnails/image/annotated_earth-moon_from_saturn_1920x1080.jpg ), we got a reading from the Book of Carl (Sagan, for you Philistines). Pretty much the same as here: Carl Sagan's "Pale Blue Dot," as read by Neil deGrasse Tyson - YouTube In a blacked out auditorium with that photo, it was a great conclusion.
Baker, I don’t get anything from the Repubs, but occasionally I get fliers from the NRA; I am not anti-gun, but I am anti-NRA and have been tempted to do what you do more than once.
Butters, glad the surgery went well. Take care now.
Ok, where’s da bear??? How can we start a proper MMP day without the weather report from Jawja???
No, I’m not worrying… not really… dammit…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffeinated and fed, so no YAWN. Actually, at six a.m. OYKW and I broke the fast at Waffle House. After I got back to da cave I decided to go back to bed for a bit so I did and now here I am. 'Tis 50 Amurrkin out and rainy with a predicted high of 57 and rain for most of the day. Rah. Today is national pizza day, so we shall sup upon majik intartoobz pizza. YAY!
Butters glad you made it through surgery. Hope you feel less sore soonest.
OK, I suppose I should do sump’n. Whatever that is.
Happy Firday Y’all!
ETA first on page four! NEENER! NEENER! NEENER! Spidey.
It needs text below the arrow; “You are here.” ![]()
::shakes fist::
I knew the cat wouldn’t be happy until he woke the dog.
Of course that works for him since if the dog gets up, I’ll get up to see if he wants to go out. Since the cat’s bowl and treats are by the back door he knows I’ll dump a few treats in his bowl before I open the door.
The ice is melting off the crepe myrtle out front, the sunny side of the house.
Out back is solid ice, even the dog was sliding.
I’s rather stay in another day and go out tomorrow.
You are well trained.
Last day of the week for paid irk. Then trying to cram 3 days of state paperwork into tomorrow alone. No wonder I go to Da Jungle 5 days a week ------- I need the rest from being basically retired! Sunday may be adventures in passing along and finding new books depending on what the weather does; that at least will be fun.
Afternoon, mumpers! Finally made it to Friday without hitting anyone with a chair. I had to send a snarky email to a student today who was complaining about the optional modules we have in our dept. He’s a law/language student so aside from his language module, he can only take one option from us anyway (and doesn’t even have to do that if he doesn’t want to) but apparently the modules we have are a disgrace. I politely told him to take his custom elsewhere.
Apart from that, it’s been a busy week in the irkplace with lots going on, and most of the rest of my time has been spent in the gym. One PT session, three bootcamps and a BodyPump class to look forward to tomorrow morning. Must remember to stop by the bank on my way home else I won’t have any money for tomorrow’s errands and whatnot.
Butters - hope you feel better soon!
For some reason, the mental image of you flinging furniture thither and yon is a real rib-tickler!

Lunch break - yay! That much closer to my weekend. We’re promised rain the next couple of days, so I foresee much indoor time. **FCD **wants me to paint a cabinet for him, and I need one more coat on the closet door. Slowly but surely, the chores are getting done.
Snow day for me! We’ve had about 7 inches so far with up to 5 more over the weekend. I’m watching Olympic stuff and in general messing around.
Olympic stuff? Hmmm. I have not been paying attention to the news.
Feel better Butters.
I pulled a brisket outta da freezer. I shall slow roast it tomorrow with N.O.T., carrots, parsnips, onion, and garlic. We shall sup upon it tomorrow and have it for N.O.L. on Sunday. The rain has left us but is comin’ back tomorrow night and Sunday. This will be the third rainy Sunday in a row. Mostly I have chilled today which is good.
