Y’all be careful with tropical whatever it is. Looks like lots and lots of rain dumpage up the east coast. Wish we could get some of that here. Alas.
We went to dindin at the [del]hog trough[/del] all you can eat place. It was meh. Not a good variety of stuff. I went to Evening Prayer since I was in town. OYKW didn’t want to go. Glad I went. Really enjoyed it.
I saw an older gent in the grocery store wearing a kilt. He also had the sporran and the socks with the tartan tassels (no idea what those are called). He was in the checkout line next to the one I was in and I was openly staring. His back was to me, so he didn’t notice. If he had, I would have asked which tartan he was wearing. No interest about what was under the kilt–he was probably around my dad’s age and Culinary Boy was standing right there.
Up, caffeinating, NOT going in to work today. It is the ick outside fer sure today. Plus, I got a bit wet (rained on) this past Monday and now apparently I am paying for it. I’ve got congestion, headache and general achy-ness, so I’m climbing back into bed in a few minutes and taking some cold meds and going back to sleep.
Following GT’s example, Rosie’s sig to all and drive carefully out there today folks, if you’re in the areas of heavy rain and possible flooding. Please don’t drive through standing water!

Happy Birthday,
Rosie!
May it be a completely un-burfy birfday.
I have a bit of otitis, went to the company doc and he verified that yeah, it looks like “otitis” (i.e., “yeah, it’s swollen and hurts but I can’t see anything wrong with it”) and gave me some drops. Having a well-equipped medical office onsite is neat.
Going to go get my passport today. I brought my birth certificate, and I found my original SS card, as well as my new one with my married name.
We are having absolutely gorgeous weather! Dry and warm, not hot and humid. Next week promises highs in the 70’s and lows in the 50’s. I luuurve me some Texas fall…
Everything’s coming up Rosie! Hippo, Birdie, Two Ewe!
Texas fall sounds like Mississippi fall, Rebo. Our temps will be similar next week. Sunday will be nice: it’s the annual Walk for Diabetes to raise money for the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi. If hubs feels up to it, we’ll be there. We have something called Camp Kandu, and it’s for children with diabetes: one weekend in the fall and one weekend in the spring. The Kandu kids get to cut the ribbon for the walk. This will be our daughter’s last year to do it, since Kandu cuts off at age 12. Her brother, who is 12, gets to help be a counselor this year. He is so excited. She is miffed. She has diabetes, and he gets to be a counselor first. Ugh.
Long day at work today, party at work tonight, and hubby’s surgery is tomorrow. This is going to be a looooooong weekend.
My official offer letter has been received, signed, and returned! I start my new job on 10/18, which means no gap in employment! YAAAAAAAY!!!
Happy birthday, rosie! September girls are the best.
I didn’t see that question; sorry! I do plan to go, but the how/with who/when are still yet to be seen. I’d love to meet you, too, so let’s see how things look as the rally/march approaches.
Day two in my new office, everyone is still being very nice and I am generally settling in quite well. The girls from my other office came over for lunch today, we went to the cafeteria here which was nicer than I’d expected.
Tonight I am having a quiet night at home doing the vacuuming and the laundry. See how exciting my life is just now?
It’s the first day of teaching tomorrow for my course and I will be spending my morning herding [del]cats[/del] tutors to make sure everyone gets to the right place at the right time. I may also be hassling the IT ‘help’ desk as I still have no printer access.
May I join you? I just dropped an empty kettle on my bare toe. The bruising and redness started immediately. My mom just got home and is finishing the lunch I started and brought me some ice.
