Life is a Beach-An End of Summer MMP

Did I mention OW???

I’m in.

We just got our 2009 taxes done and e-filed this morning.
We’re getting a small refund instead of paying for a change, which is okay, since I don’t think we’ve been getting very good service from Washington this last decade.
Of course half of our refund is going to pay the tax preparers.
The older I get, the more I hate the gummint!

Blurf!

OH, Happy Birthday, Rosie!!!

Happy Rosie Day!!

We’ve definitely been rained upon. There’s a break in the action right now, but more is promised this evening and overnight. I was awakened some time after 3 by the rain, and it incorporated itself into dozing dreams. There was something about about a jigsaw puzzle of a seascape and something else about being trapped in a small boat that was taking on water. I didn’t get much rest after waking.

And I forgot to take a cardigan or something to work, so I was freezing!! I had to bring home my usual work jacket because it needed to be laundered. Alas, I forgot a backup. From now on, I’ll leave at least 2 garments in my locker.

Supper is leftover poke roast with baked N.O.T. and cabbage-n-onions. Mebbe carrots, too.

C’mon Firday - I am so ready for the weekend!!

Count me in on that too Coyote! We’ll have us a MMP partay!

Dindin tonight is country fried steak 'n gravy, rice, field peas, steamed squish and cornbread. NUM!

We’ll be havin’ us some of that Texas/Mississippi/Jawja Fall weather next week too.

Ok, gotta go do up some country fried steak 'n gravy.

Later Y’all!

<rummages through liquor cabinet and fills arms with bottles>

Me too. Let’s see… red wine, gin, tequila, ouzo, spiced rum… If it doesn’t kill you, you’ll wish it had when you wake up the next morning! Lots of happy congeners there!

I really, REALLY wish I’d asked my retired co-worker if I could have his Auditor Repellent. Even though I’m not being audited and I don’t have to defend anything, it’s an unbearable pile of work to gather the information they want. Bleah!

Party at Coyote’s! :does a cannonball into the pool:

At least I’m a very cheap drunk, so there will still be plenty for the rest of y’all after I’m shit-faced.

Time to break out my canoe. The flooding around here is spectacular.

Bobbio be careful. All you others where it’s rainin’ big time be careful too.

Dindin was teh num! If’n I do say so myself. Enough for leftovers tomorrow too.

Taht’s all the news from swampland at the moment.

I ain’t goin’ anywhere, 'cuz I’s flooded in. My house is high and dry, but the surrounding swamps and creeks are over their banks and the roads are under water.

A couple of wrecks today from people hydroplaning and losing it. No one hurt too bad.

It’s been raining at various rates since 4 PM Sunday afternoon. I’m all for breaking a drought, but not in the course of a week. The good news: no forest fires for the next few days…

I survived work, more tomorrow.

: orders 20 shots of Patrón from the bar :
Who wants some?

Yay for the job, [n]Missy**!!!

Hope the toe is better, Sticky.

I’ll take a couple.

Happy Birthday, rosie!!!

Meant to post this yesterday, Nava. Here’s an article about the general strike in Spain. Thought you’d like the vocabulary in context.

Yay for uninterrupted employment, Missy!

Flooding sounds scary, Bobbio. Glad your house is OK.

Survived a rather unpleasant meeting (I was there as a subject matter expert, so it wasn’t really unpleasant for me; it was more that I knew it wasn’t going to go well and was going to feel like a waste of time. Which it did. Boo.

Hmmm…what else was I going to do tonight?

Everything’s coming up Rosie!

Rain is over! Yaaaaaahhhhh!! :flings confetti with wild abandon:

Of course, it tapered off so the clouds didn’t slam shut…

Thank you all for the birfdai wishes. In spite of the awful ugly weather, it was a good day.

I decided two things today - first - I’m not 52, I’m 29 with 23 years experience. and second - when(ever) I am finally ready to retire, I intend to get bitten by a vampire (preferably Spike or Angel as opposed to Edward Cullen) so that I can really enjoy retirement.

Much appreciated. I’ll read it when I got home since, for some reason, sites identified as “press” are cut off at work.

I have a strong suspicion that the filters are written in English; they’re definitely not set to comply with Spanish law (by law, workers are allowed to study at work so long as it doesn’t interfere with their duties, but educational sites are blocked) and they block “big” news sources but not “small” ones. I’m unlikely to be able to open something from Le Figaro, El País or NYT, but The Arkansas 7 Inna Morning News or La Ribera are fine. Reminds me of when an American employer blocked access to music sites but not to sites about música.

Off to irk. Despite no rain falling since before midnight, this could be an adventure.

Wish me luck.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’.

BBBobbio here’s hopin’ the ride to irk was uneventful.

Everybody else, Happy Firday!

Hope you had a safe commute, Bobbio!

Up… At 'em?

It’s Firday!!! Yay!!!

I’ve got a small lunch today at a pediatrician’s office that has a resident black lab. This always makes me sort of :dubious: because I wonder about children with allergies. I guess they just find another doctor…
