Life is a Beach-An End of Summer MMP

I potted a load of winter-flowering plug plants yesterday that I was given by a friend. I know there are violets and pansies in there but I have no idea what the third lot will turn out to be. Anyway, they were all planted yesterday and then overnight the rain bucketed down so I have been out to move the tubs somewhere with a bit more shelter.

I’ve also braved the rain to go and empty the kitchen bin. Go, me.

I’m doing things a day in advance at the moment because I’m a bit busy so yesterday I made enough dinner for leftovers today, this afternoon I’m making shepherd’s pie for dinner tomorrow night (and the night after, as there will be leftovers), and tomorrow evening I’m making chocolate and apricot brownies for a taster night at Fat Club on Tuesday.

Having got out of bed and lured the cats downstairs with the promise of food, I also managed to change the bedding and get that in the wash although Shadow was not keen on the idea of fresh sheets because he tried several times to settle on the bed before I’d got the clean bedding on. He was very unhappy at being moved so many times but I did carry him back there when I’d finished so now he’s happily snoozing.

I ought to mop the floors today too but I also have a couple of long letters to write to overseas friends and when it’s wet and dreary outside, there’s nothing better than keeping up with friends instead of doing chores!

Ok, last night’s blurfiness due to ridiculous relatives has somewhat abated. Today will hopefully proceed the way that yesterday was supposed to before the visual swirlies appeared and the major technical difficulties. Or at least we’d like to hope that’s the case.

Kinda almost got to sleep in till 7 today - woohoo! I did get up earlier to take Scruffy out, but I crawled back under the covers, and once Taz finally settled himself, I snoozed another 90 minutes.

I’ve got Cozmo up here with me because daughter was puking sick last night and I figured I’d let her sleep in. Something has been going around her school and apparently she got it. Am I next? ick.

Only 2 loads of laundry today, and the first is already in the washer. The aquarium gets a water change today, but that’s an easy chore now. And I bought 2 pie pumpkins yesterday, so I’m going to try making punkin bread with them.

I started nephew’s afghan last night, and somehow managed to botch up the lower border, so I fear I’ll have to rip it all out and start again. The pattern is too complicated to unknit and I’m only on row 13 or so - it’s not a huge issue. More of an aggravation.

Meanwhile, I need something for breakfast. I think there are still a few nanner muffins left…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffienated, brekkied and purtified for deheathenization. Somebody who shall remain nameless does not want to get deheathenated today and went back to sleep. He was reminded however to show up for lunch.

Today is First Sunday Brunch but it’s bein’ skipped by moi cause I’d rather go visit with JDD and his family. I like his folks and haven’t seen 'em or his sis in a while. Plus, even though I talk to him regularly it’ll be nice to see JDD Bro face to face.

Ok, off to, ummm… sump’n or other.

Later Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, off to irk.

I was sick last Wed. thru yesterday, FCM so there is definitely something going around. I used to have a cast-iron stomach but not so much any more. My apologies for not keeping up with the MMP, and Rosie’s sig all around! And if anyone has gotten any strange-looking emails from me recently, it did NOT come from me, unfortunately, and please delete w/o opening!! I don’t know what is going on with yahoo.com email, but somehow my account there was hacked, I guess. :frowning: And a thousand apologies!

My sleep apnea study has been postponed but will now be done on October 15th. I found out they have tvs there, but they’re not hooked up to cable, only to a dvr. Heh, I’m not sure how I"m going to sleep, first hooked up to all that equipment, etc., and then no television to fall asleep to! Heavens!

I am slightly caffeinated, still trying to take it easy. Oh yeah, diet ginger-ale doesn’t taste so good, but regular ginger-ale is too sweet!!

Happy sunday all.

You’re so organized, BooFae! I’ve gotten sloppy about food planning lately.

Hope you escape the virus, FCM!

Gotta get ready to deheathenate, then, if the weather cooperates, there’s gardening to do.

**tarra **- I got 2 funky emails from you and it did confuse me. One was blank and the other had a link. I opened them at work, so I’m not worried - we’ve got some serious firewalls there.

Just talked to daughter - she was up as recently as 4 AM, so we’re pretty sure it’s a bug and not food poisoning. She’s still in bed and we’re dealing with the puppeh from the depths of hell.

I’m comfy today - I don’t intend to leave home, so I’m in a sweatsuit and slippers. It’s about tome to break out the knitting.

gropes Bobbio

Culinary Boy is making biscuits and graaaaaaaaavy downstairs. Later on we’re going to Riverside Cemetery for the Thomas Wolfe’s 110th Birthday Tour.

I’ve come to terms with ol’ Tom now. When I first read Look Homeward, Angel I threw it across the room and stomped on it because I was in no mood for the riptide of words. I reread it last year after moving to Hippy Hollow and I get it now. It’s all true. Those people are still here and we’re all nuts.

Speaking of, I have a bag of pecans my dad gave me that I need to crack. Let’s get crackin’!

I’m back from fun in the sun, sand and surf. My luggage, however, is not.

Fortunately, the airline just called and I should see the luggage in about four hours.

Never fly in IFlyGo/Mesa Airlines. They suck big ones. The same thing happened to us last year coming back. They’re a puddle jumper airline we were forced to use from Lihue to Honolulu. We were originally scheduled to fly Hawaiian as the puddle jumper, but Alaska changed it to Mesa for our return trip.

I had a fantastic time while in Kauaii though. We played hard every day. We snorkeled too, and I saw lots of beautiful fish. No sea turtles this time though.

We also found a new beach called Secret Beach. I don’t know how secret it can be if it’s in a magazine, but it’s pain to get to. There’s about a 15 minute hike to and from the beach. The surf is not for playing in, not even surfing. We talked to a local there and she told us tourists always die there. The surf was huge and the current there was very powerful. It was beautiful, though.

We spent every day at some beach, except for one day where we hung out at the sister resort pools. They were very nice pools with waterfalls and slides.

I was up before the sunrise everyday. I would make coffee, sit on the lanai and watch the sun come up every morning. Then, I’d shower and get ready for a day of sun, sand and surf. We packed sandwiches and fruit, along with water, soda, and booze that we’d pour into empty Propel bottles. We never finished the booze in the cooler, because we’d head on up to one of the hotel bars and have a tai chi, or a mai tai, or a tropical itch, or a rum smoothie. They were all good.

At any rate, we landed last night a little after nine in the evening and spent the next hour and a half waiting in line to get the luggage issue squared away.

I plan to relax today and get used to the time change again.

Herbs, you’ll sleep better than you’d think during your sleep study. The worst part is getting all of the goop out of your hair when it’s over. You can PM me if you have any questions. It’s been a couple of years since I had my last one done but I might be able to help.

I just woke up from a nap and had my leftovers from last night’s dinner. TVMan is still asleep but has promised to give me a lesson in soldering when he wakes up!

How you doin? Can I buy you dinner?
Flood waters all around, so naturally it’s raining once again…

Must be Sunday, 'cuz I just finished shampooing carpet once again.

Ill be leaving shortly to go to a wilderness search class. Fun it the woods.

Up, done 3 loads of laundry, been out for breakfast, got the front bedroom finallyset up as a bedroom instead of ‘place we shove crap into then close the door’, sorted out the office/bedroom, checked in for my flight tomorrow. Busy morning

Now I am going to sort through the box of papers I brought back from France, fold laundry and pack. Produtive weekend!

Well, it’s been an exciting day here. Daughter has ventured from her bed, but she’s still not eating, and she’s not going into work tomorrow. **FCD **slept for a couple of hours. I’ve done a bunch of knitting, a little laundry, and not much else. It’s starting to rain here, and we’re promised a high of 58 tomorrow. And rain. And wind. Good times…

**Taters **- didja get your stuff back yet? More importantly, didja bring us presents???

I want ice cream. Wish we had some. <sigh>

FCM, yup, my bag arrived a little after noon. I’m sorry to report the macadamia nuts disappeared though…right into my mouth. I was hungry…sorry.

I haven’t done a thing. I’m tired. I know I should get off my duff and do something, but all the activity from the trip is catching up to me. I tried sleeping on the plane, but I can never sleep on planes.

I like to watch people on planes, they let go of common social grace like it’s going out of f**king fashion.

People watching in diners is fun, too.
I think I am developing reclusive tendancies

The ol’ animal comes out when you’re eating, try taking away their food.

Try to take away the food of man’s best friend and that loveable family labrador will bare his fangs and see you as dinner.

Well…I’ve been to church and brunch and went to the grocery store and came back to continue painting my concrete leaves. Bought zucchini for carrot zucchini bread and forgot to get the crystallized ginger. So I guess I have to go out again to find that.

Welcome back, Taters!

There was more I wanted to say, but…I forgot.

Back later…

Hugs.

I had to work extra, now I’m having dinner(martini appetizer, sauteed asparagus, cheesy rice, and Tuscan grilled poke chops.

Rubik(can we call you Cube?), my animals know better. Of course I own a rifle, and The Look.
