My predecessor left me nothing to work with other than some pdf’s of some e-mails that mean nothing (not surprising when he quit to go work for the competion) so I am slowly trying to build my own set of tracking sheets so I can make my month end reports quickly and easily as well as having my data to hand so I don’t sound like an idiot when I talk. Brain hurts and is very tired today. 1 more hour to go!
VunderBob I’m sorry to hear about your VunderBro. Please accept my fondest hopes for the best for him, you and your family.
I’m sorry about the injured um “upper lady parts” Picu. At least there’s no pain. Were it that the rest of life were so.
Speaking of pain, swampy you have my utmost sympathies. I deal with Part D (as well as MA & MAPD) for a living and I think they intentionally set it up to make those who deal with it lose their minds. Let’s hope insanity/dementia meds are in the formulary…
Mooooom please be careful with all dat “mudderin” lest the UPS, FedEx, or cable guy (or postal worker or meter reader) shows up unannounced. By the way, your 'tirement is wearing me out! Slow down already, will ya?
Taters, I hope your pup-pup is okey-dokey. Few things are more worrisome than limping pets, unless they’re limpets.
Tonight it was Bri2k-burgers Part 2 - The BBQ Sauce Sequel. Gardentraveler, if I was cooking for more than just myself, I’d probably gussy them up a little.
The poke tenderloin Diane was quite good, with a couple of minor additions - sliced mushrooms and thinly sliced onion added to the sauce. I’s stuffded! Ice cream later.
**Brick **- no worries about anyone seeing me - I was in the basement - delivery guys don’t venture there. And if they do see me, well, it’s their own fault for being nosy. I can’t be held responsible if they go blind…
Off to assume the knit position again. I’m almost done my more recent afghan. Yay!
I’m on vacation!
My grandma finally had her foot amputated and she’s doing much better–after making herself a royal pain to the hospital staff. That’s my grandma!

picu, there isn’t a  big enough for the thought of a 3rd degree boob burn.
gt, that’d be cake! Alls I gotta do is pretend that I’m writing some boring paper for school and I’d do yer challenge naturally. I am the worst for simplicity in writing.
I started my job today; it is legitimately awful - these people run a tight ship, and there is no such thing as downtime (well, except my one 30-minute break), and according to the girl training me, “[Manager] will get angry at you for just standing around! You’re supposed to brew the coffee, clean the tables, stock the everything, somehow go in the kitchen and make things there, etc… See the window that looks directly at us?” The worst part: I am exactly as tired as I thought I’d be - turns out that consistently getting 4 hours of sleep per night is not ideal.
Is sneaking the punctuation into the quotation cheating?
Anyway, I figure if none of these other jobs pan out, I can make it work for a month or so and then walk. Everyone else is in their early twenties, and takes it very seriously. There’s nothing wrong with a low-paying foodservice job at 20 years old, but I think it’s silly to not have aspirations. The sex everyone else is having there must be amazing for them to enjoy this job so much.
Sending healing thoughts and saying prayers for you Picu - hope that the appt. with your doc goes well tomorrow.
Your cousin’s family is in my prayers too, BBBBBobbio, so sad.
I finally (LOL) made it to the community center today. It’s very nice and they have a lot of things going on there. I can definitely take a beginning pottery class - I’ll have to get supplies and clay, but there is no charge for the classes. It only costs $13/year to join the centers too - it’s really great stuff. They’ve got a whole lot going on for seniors too, naturally - that’s over 50 here, btw. They serve breakfast and lunch, Monday-Friday. They also do bingo once a week. LOL Seriously, though, they have a fitness center and they also have all sorts of things going on there, including something called pickleball, which is played with wiffleballs and something like ping pong paddles!
I did over-do it a bit today, but tomorrow will stay close to home and just go to the pool in the apartment complex. We also went grocery shopping this afternoon.
Hope everyone is having a good week! Rosie’s .sig to anyone that I missed.
There is nothing more fun that getting a call just after midnight telling me there was a problem with one of our overnight processes. It requires me to be awake enough to authorize stuff. And then think about who I need to call or e-mail.
A common nickname for bureacuracy in Spanish is burrocracia. I think you’ll be familiar with the root for that nick…
I don’t want to bore you with the explanations, but there’s some money my local IRS said they’d be paying me (their fault, they auto-filed something for me when I have signed up for “no auto-filing”) back in April. Last week I got the letter saying they will pay it. It should be in my account next month. I’m talking four figures here, if I was one of those paycheck-to-paycheck people I would have been royally screwed.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 70 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 94. Another cool day in south Jawja!
donkeybear when you find out, report back to us on the quality of sex at your new gig.
Yuck gt! Hope you got back to sleep soon.
Yay for what sounds like a good community center Herbs! Will we all have original one of a kind designer Herbs collectibles settin’ on our desks?
Nava here’s hopin’ the IRS does manage to actually deposit the money into your account. Don’t know about Spain but over heah, I’d be all :dubious: until it actually happened.
Ok, I need more caffiene and should feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence. Then I shall join Brick in wallowin’ in the fun that is Medicare Part D again.
Good mornin. I didn’t squash Scruffy, but I wanted to. I was just settling back to sleep after **FCD **left and she started barking. Idiot dog. Oh well.
I have some decisions to make - clean the family room carpet or mow the lawn? I think the lawn may win - with the rain lately, it’s really grown. So once it’s a little lighter out, I’ll get to it. Then I should be able to prime the rest of the basement walls - **FCD **sanded last night. Without a dust mask, the dummy! I swear, for a smart person, he does some really dumb stuff. Anyway, since I’ll be mowing today, guess the carpet will get done tomorrow.
I don’t want to think about the IRS. Since I had to retire mid-year, between what I’d earned so far, my incentive payment, my leave sell-back, and my pension payments, I’m going to gross more this year than last. So while all them rich folks get to keep their tax breaks, I figure I should just bend over and take it. I have no problem paying my share. I know that taxes pay for roads and schools and the military and police and stuff like that there - but it really pisses me off that others refuse to pay their share, so my share keeps getting bigger. <not gonna rant not gonna rant not gonna rant>
I forgot to mention - the other day, the county (I assume that’s who it was) went down the street along the side of our yard and cut down a bunch of branches that were overhanging the road. At first, they were across the street, and thought maybe those people had hired someone, but later, I saw them taking down some branches hanging out of my yard. So yay! I’d hate for something from my yard to fall on a passing car or person. We had a tree fall once, crushing part of the fence and breaking up as it hit the ground. We dragged the pieces off the road and let them rot. Still, not a good thing.
Same, I had government grants both for college (not very big) and for graduate school (covered living expenses; between that and a tuition waiver as a “research assistant”, I was golden), plus my local IRS pays for the best road system in the country and all I need to do to want to hug our Social Security administators (but not much, don’t want it to go to their heads) is remember the trepidation of dealing with medical insurance Over There. I pay my taxes, I hate people who skip them or who otherwise try to game the system.
Have I told you before of my brother’s Idiot Brother in Law being one of the people who had gotten a government-developed home or VPO assigned while buying a “free-development” one, planning on selling the VPO, then the government realized that people were flipping VPOs and toughened the rules on when and how can they be sold, and then the construction bubble burst? My SiL has the strange idea that my economic situation mirrors her Idiot Brother’s, I stay appraised of the situation simply through that. I get these warm fuzzy feelings every time she asks how am I dealing with my double mortgages for more than the value of the places at high interest rates… (I have a single mortgage, put 20% down, the value left on it is less than half the value of the flat and the interest is absurdly low, it’s below the rate at which banks loan to each other)
Pearl - nice OP and a great way to start the week! I have been a bad Mumper as this is the first time I’ve looked at the MMP this week, but I have been a bit busy.
On Monday I was working all day then we went down to London to see a band called Suicidal Tendencies playing at a club in Camden. We caught the last train back at 11.30pm but that doesn’t go all the way to where we live so we booked a cheap room elsewhere for the night so I could get some sleep and go straight to work on Tuesday.
Last night was Fat Club (lost half a pound, yay!) and a very early night for me. Tonight we’re off to the pub, tomorrow I have to do grocery shopping and pack stuff because on Friday we’re off to Beautiful Days until next Monday!
This week, I am doing some new and excitingly scary. After much deliberation, I have pretty well decided that I’m taking the voluntary severance deal on offer at work which means I’ll be out of a job on 30th September with a nice little payment in the bank. Job-hunting will ensue.
I went to the gym this morning before irk. I went Monday, too. I was gonna go yesterday, and I actually made it to the parking lot, but I forgot my gym bag. :smack: So I drove back home, took a shower, and dressed for work. I R DUM.
I like the exercising ok, it’s the getting up at the butt crack of BEFORE dawn that I hate. 4:00 am should be for sleeping…
