Work was challenging today. Assistant lead called out sick, I got in at 10 to discover problem irker had been flying solo in our department since his arrival at 8. When lead arrived on schedule at 12, I was so relieved that I hugged her.
I even got tagged by supervisor to do the break/lunch schedule, which is normally a lead/assistant lead task, so I’d never been trained on that. My coping method was to go back to previous days, find shifts similar to the ones I was dealing with, and copy from those. I was told I did all right for a first-timer winging it on her own.
I really did NOT want to go to Costco tonight, but we had to. Ate at Wendy’s first, my cod sandwich was decent, the baked potato quite good, and I always enjoy playing with a Coke Freestyle machine. Today’s combo was vanilla Sprite Zero, which came out good. DH went with the Baconator, Caesar side salad, and cherry lime diet ginger ale (he says it was good).
Does anyone know if 4G service hits a cell phone battery harder than 3G does? My battery was unusually low by the time I finally got home, and I did spend an hour or more in an area where I was getting 4G.
Herbs, I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. I wish her the best.
FCM, your dinner last night sounds good! I hope FCD got to Florida without any problems. It’s a shame that he’ll be away an extra week, though. Geez.
Swampy, I hope you’re not feeling too bad this morning, after overdoing it with the beerverages last night!
Things around here are movin’ along. I was a bit pooped after working out in the yard all weekend. It’s a good feeling to be tired from doing that stuff, though. I always seem to sleep better when I do yardwork. My husband put in two more raised beds this weekend, and still has one more to go. I hope that one will be done this coming weekend. We are going to put in a new drip irrigation system in them, too.
Today, I need to do some more raking, and top off all the flowerpots and flower tubs, with fresh potting soil. I also need to relocate the bird feeders/shepherd’s hooks that they hang on, to another part of the yard. That’s not too bad, I guess.
I think I’ll take some chicken out to thaw, and for dinner, I’ll saute it, and make a salad. That sounds good. Easy, too. I’m all about easy these days!
I hope the day is a good one for all of us. I’m off to make myself a cup of coffee.
Up, caffeinated, off to work. Booster Club meeting after work at the Bistro. Also, there are dog toys and dog blankets all over the house. If I wanted toddler chaos, I’d breed(We miss you, Li-Li!:D)
I never even made it here yesterday to tell you about my exciting day. Over the weekend RT and I managed to drag my antique fridge out to my van. The thing weighed 160 lbs so I figured I would get decent money for it as scrap. I dropped if off at the scrap yard and got a whopping $13.57. :dubious:
Then, as I was pulling out of the yard I heard a loud CLACK, CLACK… Turns out I had run over a valve from an engine and it was stuck in my tire. I pulled over and began trying to change it when a very nice couple stopped by and helped me. I had actually been on my way to get a slow leak in my other tire fixed at the time. So, I headed over there and they managed to fix both tires for only $10!
Last, when I was at home and getting ready for bed I heard a loud noise which turned out to be my mom getting dizzy and falling to the floor. I helped her up and we both went to bed. She is sore, but seems better this morning.
I stayed up until midnight-thirty writing a story that came to me on my walk yesterday. I didn’t finish it because an argument broke out and I wasn’t sure how to resolve it. Now I have to go and at least pretend that I’m fully present in the world around me as I try to figure out how to get from the argument to the end which I’ve already worked out.
As I expected, Higgs woke up crazy early - about 3:45. I let her out to pee, then let her come to bed with me. She and the cats finally settled about half an hour later, and let me sleep till nearly 6. And somewhere in there, she pooped in front of the fireplace, so my day is complete now…
**flytrap **- no one blames you. No one cares. Hush.
**Nut **- yay for found money! This might be a good time to check the pockets of garments you haven’t worn in a while!
**FCD **got to Ocala safely. My mom’s van gets about 24MPG, so this is an expensive trip. Tho it’s cheaper than if they tried to rent a van, so there’s that. I figure the earliest he’ll be home is next Weds, but more likely next Thurs, depending on how his mother fares. It kinda ticks me off because the brother who lives closer (not the one who lives with them - he has mental and emotional problems) could be helping with all this if he’d bothered to listen to his doctor and stay on his meds. Instead, he had a heart attack and relied on his parents to take care of him for 2 week. These would be the same parents who have serious health problems of their own. As you might guess, I don’t much like that BIL… Anyway, maybe my sweetie will be home at the end of next week.
I think today will be trash-and-recycling day. I may also (brace yourselves) dust and vacuum. I hate to dust more than just about any chore, but since our furniture isn’t white, I guess it’s time for me to scrape off the top layers of crud… We’re promised chance of rain this afternoon - it’s debatable whether I’ll do anything out there or not.
Meanwhile, I just finished breakfast and I’m caffeinating. I’ll get started somewhere along the line. Maybe. We shall see.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 54 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 82 and sunny for the day. I’ll take it! Also, I am feelin’ surprisingly well this mornin’. I am all sniffly and sneezey but, well, that’s just Spring. I’ll be glad when the oak and pee-kahn trees finish their respective orgies. Spendin’ a good deal of yestiddy evenin’ in a pee-kahn orchard did not help matters.
StickyBuns yay for nice people!
Spaz as long as the arguement remains in your haid and not outloud it’ll be good.
Two of the members of good ol’ St. Pat’s put up a pole and gourds that are supposed to attract purple martins down by Lake St. Patrick’s. That’s what we call the holdin’ pond behind the church house which is completely full right now after all the recent rains. Anywho, Jerry (one of my good buds) and I went to look at it last night and lo and behold, saw that some martins were nestin’! Cool! I like purple martins. They eat skeeters.
Ace GMTA! I took some boneless chikin boobs outta da freezer last night to grill and go over sallits for dindin tonight.
Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence.
Beautiful sunrise this a.m., all pinks and oranges, coming over the high rise bridge. Had chicken with capons, at least that’s what Mr. Jynxsters calls Chicken Piccata. He gets capons and capers confused. Tonights din shall be brats, N.O. Mashed T., and sauerkraut for him and spinich and something other than brats for me.
I’ve got about 90 minutes to kill till the convenience center opens - I can load the dishwasher and shower and dress. Or I can play online sudoku. What to do, what to do??
Us Mumpers are a tight bunch; always willing to help each other out. In that spirit, I would be more that willing to help you out by holding a sharp blade to your neck. I bet Ruble might even be willing to supply such blade, say a hand-anna-half sword (& a sharpening stone). Just one question, are you booking the plane tix or should I?
Good morning. I had a terribly restless night and got hardly any sleep. I ended up getting up way early and came in to work an hour early. I’ve got a five shot Americano and it’s not doing it’s job. I cannot stop yawning. I’d like to just lie down and take a wee nap. However, I can’t do that; if I did that, I’d wake up looking a like raccoon. Mascara and sleep just don’t go together.
My husband took today off. He wanted me to take today too, but I just have too much going on here at work to justify taking a day. If I don’t do what needs to be done, no one will, so taking a day would have just put me further behind.
It’s wet and dreary here. Another Pacific Northwest spring day.
That was productive! I showered, dressed, cleaned the kitchen and ran a rinse in the dishwasher, gathered all the household garbage and recycling, and took it all to the convenience center. I just turned on the sprinkler on the grass seed I put down, and I’m having a bowl of strawberries, because - yum!
I need to start bringing the stuff from the red shed to the garage so I can sort it all for my yard sale. I decided to stage it in the driveway. There are too many holes in the yard and I can’t chance someone’s uncontrolled progeny getting hurt. Plus I can leave Higgs in the yard if I have the sale out front. I think it’s a plan.
Even though I’m sure today is Sunday. My internal clock/calendar is all screwed up.
It’s a beautiful day, I’ve got the window wide open.
Today is pizza day and laundry day, and groceries are being delivered today. Yes, I am the height of laziness, I order my groceries online and somebody else gets to do the running and fetching and carrying. The delivery is free and while some of the groceries cost more the $5 off coupon makes up the difference.
I think twuck got hit. I had to park in the front of the orifice this mornin’ due to a delivery truck blockin’ parkin’ spaces on the back side of the buildin’. This is a Georgia DOL office, so DOL customers park up front. Anywho, I parked in an end space, meanin’ no one could have or should have parked next to the passenger side of twuck. There’s not a parkin’ space there because it would block people comin’ up the side of the buildin’. So, I got a call from my buddy who irks in the front part of the buildin’. She told me she went outside and saw the passenger side mirror layin’ on the ground beside twuck. Sure enough it was there, broken. Just the mirror thankfully and not the whole side view mirror assembly. It’s broken and there was glass (duh!) where it shattered. Had to be somebody maybe tryin’ to park there and hit it. GRRRRRR! Maybe I should just go and eat N.O.L. Spidey this is a Martian.
I’ve been kinda lookin’ around about sideview mirror replacements. Of course this is a power mirror which means it’ll probably cost a lot. Sigh. Guess I best let the folks at Ford take a look at it. I hope they have a faintin’ couch, smellin’ salts, and a fan nearby for when they tell me how much.
