Looking back – how history will interpret the MMP

I forgot to add that the baby pictures were cute. I love it when babies smile.

I hope your mother heals up soon, Tagfree.

I think I’m going to have to sic **Swampy ** on all you non putter awayers. Look, I’m not the cleaning nazi or anything (my house more than proves this), but I cannot stand for stuff to be out. Consequently, when I see stuff not put away, I tend to feel overwhelmed and can’t seem to deal with it. Then the stuff piles up and I become crabby.

I managed to clear the counters for the most part yesterday, but my pantry is a mess and I need to rearrange it so I can finish putting my spices away. I had the pantry all neat and tidy and organized, but when the kids put the groceries away, they just stick the stuff…wherever. They don’t pay attention to my organized system and then, I feel all overwhelmed again and it takes me awhile to get started on organizing it.

It’s a vicious circle…

ETAl Woot! I’m finally first on a page!

Oh, das, who de kyootie bebeh, huh? I just wanna pinch his widdoe cheeksies yes I does! I got major lucky and captured that grin on my son’s face in his two month old photo shoot at Sears–I still carry around one of those pix in my wallet and the kid is thirty…

Sorry, Nooner, that’s one part of my reputation I’ll never sully–I’ll go without rather than spit… On account of the old Irish curse, don’tcha know. The Irish say that when you die they hang you head down in a barrel full of all the booze you’ve spilled and if you die, to hell wit ya! Can’t risk it, nope. :stuck_out_tongue:

Taters, that sounds so uncomfortable–I hated it when I’d retain water while pregnant and my feet and hands would swell up until the skin was so tight I thought I was going to split open. I have all the sympathy in the world for you and I sure hope your doc figures out what’s going on and fixes it!

Y’know what Haze? If you find it possible have a somewhat casual attitude towards the whole INSTITUTION OF MAWWIAGE thing eloping could solve some problems. Get a prenup going that spells out who owns what (assuming there are assets which could be an issue in the event of a divorce) then go off to Vegas… Yeah, divorce can suck but it can also be pretty pain free if both parties avoid the scorched earth policy, your parents get a fait accompli (which is always easier than dealing with the hypothetical) and you don’t have to disrupt your life quite so much. I’d be tempted if I were you but I’m pretty pragmatic that way…

Evening all. Long weekend is almost over and I feel really tired. In fact, I always feel tired. I think I may schedule a Doctor’s appointment this week to have a full check-up. Maybe I need a multi-vitamin supplement or sumpin’.

Sorry for not being more, ummm, contributory (?), but I’m just gonna go lay me down on the sofa for a while! Sigh …

Oh good grief, I am easily amused today. I’ve been reading the fart thread and have been giggling like a twelve year old.

Smartie, it really is uncomfortable and I totally feel like my skin is going to split. What’s worse though, is that I just feel like I can’t move with ease.

I guess I better get in the shower and get ready to go to the Y now.

:: blows get-well kisses for Taters and Dotty ::

Aleq, don’t tempt me! :stuck_out_tongue: Seriously, I don’t want a huge wedding, but I still want to share it with my friends and family. Just like, a small ceremony in a little chapel, and a nice meal afterwards. (The problem is that if I had one in Korea, I’d HAVE to have a big one just so my parents aren’t socially embarrassed. My culture is just one huge headache.)

TagFree your mom and you are in my thoughts and prayers. Hope she’s better soon.

Taters it’s all I can do to keep these people in tp and get 'em to do their school work. I’m not sure I can deal with all their slovenly ways too.

WHEW I’s tahred! All the stuff I wanted yanked up is yanked up and hauled off to it’s new owner or the place where we take yanked up yard stuff here. The soil is all mulched, the walkway is cleaned off (yay for pressure washers!) and the sago palm is planted. If I were truly industrious I’d hie me to Lowe’s or Home Despot or somewheres else where hedges and stuff are available for purchase but it ain’t happenin’ today. I don’t wanna plant stuff today, so I’m not. Plus, it’s gettin’ cloudy so I’m hopin’ that means rain in a while. Oh and the yahd is all mowed. I’s been a busy bear!

Maybe I need a nap. Or a beerverage. It’s after noon on Saturday so I can to have a beerverage. Or a beerverage then a nap.

Later Y’all!

Hey, Swampy, you wanna come work in my yard? There are weeds to pull, the lawn needs mowing, and bark needs to be spread. I even have one of those nifty dandelion plucker dealies. That’s a deal you just can’t pass up.

I’ve showered, and now I need to blowdry my hair. I’ll be ready to hit the Y after that.

Swampy, I count on you to keep these folks in line when stuff needs doing. Just consider this latest thing an addition to your Mumper Job Description. We’ll put it under “Other Duties as Assigned”.

I should get my hiney in gear.

Am home. Gah. So tired. Most of the peoples that come to same day surgery are really nice, but there are some who are just clueless. I have to ask if they’ve had the pneumonia or influenza shots. I had one guy (not senile) say yes he had and his doctor had given him the cold vaccine as well.

Time was I would educate and correct etc. This time, I just nodded and kept going… <sigh>

I rented Juno–I haven’t seen it yet. Hot bath, sweats and movie day for me now. I’s done workin’.

I see Swampy has not taken me up on the offer to come do my yard. He must be beerveraging or napping.

Our workout pal should be here any minute now. I’ve been ready for over an hour. I do not like this Saturday workout thing. I prefer our old schedule, which was Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Half the day is gone, and nothing is done.

I need to go to the grocery store today too. Dammit. Plus, I need to set up daughter’s senior portrait sitting (yes, I know I’m waaaaay late), and get her a haircut.

posting from the convention and I NEED A NAP!!!

No, it’s not really boring, I’m just extremely tired. BTW, if you want to watch a simulcast broadcast just go to earlytelevision.org . Okay gotta run.

I’ve always wanted the Spaceballs marriage. Y’know, the one at the end…

“Do you?”
“Yes.”
“Do you?”
“YES!”
“Good. You’re married. Kiss her.”

I come bearing two announcements and hugs. First {{{{{Mom Nola}}}}}

Second, I have made taxi’s brownies and have declared them OMG SO GOOD! (I used Hershey’s chocolatier baking chocolate. It’s a bit sweeter (and cheapter) than Baker’s.)

Third, and I must use large font and colors to do this justice:

MY YARD HAS BEEN MOWED FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE LAST JULY!

Two teens and a lawn mower came and found a lawn under the jungle. They earned their pay today! ($40 because it was so ungodly out there. $20 every two weeks for the rest of the summer.) I love young entrepreneurs.

Whew! Okay, first things first: LiLi, little (g)Nat is such a cutie; those are precious pictures of his big grin!

We went to the library today, to the bookstore, where I got 9 books for $3! Paperbacks but what a bargain!! Also stopped at Target and picked up some more oral fixation things LOL like more sugarfree gum and candy. I also got some Australian licorice–now I don’t know why it’s called Australian licorice, other than that it’s from Australia, but I tasted some of it and oh boy, is it delicious! Now you have to like licorice, though, to enjoy the taste of it. Which I do, fortunately.

I’m gonna make up some egg salad (hard boiled eggs, mashed up, mix in with mayo, pickle relish and a touch of horseradish) in a few. Hope that GT and CutiePie are having a good time, and of course anxious to hear reports of same.

Mmmmmm…egg salad. I loves me some egg salad. I haven’t made it in ages. I make mine with mayo, a touch of mustard, and celery very finely sliced.

Dangit, our friend ended up falling asleep again after talking to Mr. Taters about what time we were going to work out. He’s just now gotten in the shower. I see more and more of my day eroding, especially since we tend to spend a much longer amount of time at the Y on Saturdays.

Man, Spaz, you got off cheap! It’s nice to see kids doing something like that at a reasonable price. The very few kids that would mow lawns around here charge much more than that. Fortunately, I have my very own set of teens and my son knows if he wants money he can mow the lawn or pull some weeds. Fortunately, our lawn is small, so it doesn’t take long.

Our old house sat on nearly 1/3 of an acre. That was a huge ass lawn and we didn’t have a riding lawn mower either. It easily took two hours to mow, sometimes more if the grass was long.

Howdy, all. Haven’t read the thread; just got back from packing snowbunny’s stuff in the moving cube. It’s ready to go. I gave my new knee a workout crawling atop the stuff tieing it off since I’m more flexible than Papa Tigs; I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t hardly fuss at me at all. The cube will be picked up Monday and her stuff will be wending its way to Idaho. So we have the rest of the weekend to think of anything else that should go in it, although I’m pretty sure we got it all.

And yes, snowbunny, your sword is in there.

We also discovered in the bottom drawer of the dresser that has been in storage for a year now the missing four packages of Community Coffee that I’d gotten when we moved her stuff from Lousyana. I found most of them, but I knew a few had disappeared. Interestingly, the mice sampled each package but quickly abandoned it, so we’re trying to decide if open, mouse-sampled coffee is worth adding to the stash or not. I dunno. What do you guys think?

Off to drink lots more water (it was HOT out there in that metal cube in the sun!) and finish cooling off. And read the thread.

I wouldn’t drink the coffee. Yikes.

I’m just popping in here to tell you how I’m sitting at work giggling at a headline on Yahoo – “A first for Saudis: Mozart performed publicly and women come”.

I like Mozart, but his stuff has never had that effect one me!

That is a wonderful, wonderful headline.

Do not drink the coffee BioTigs! Sheesh! You know better than that. Rats have been in it!

I did indeed take a nappy poo after indulging in a beerverage. 'Tis rainy here now. YAY!

Ima go grill some chicken bosoms upon the grill.

Later Y’all!

taxi, I loves me some Tibetan food and potatoes, so I think there’s no way I can go through life without trying this recipe. Methinks I’ll give it a try next week for dinner at some point… just need to figure out a main dish to go with.

LiLi, your Gnat is adorable. I think you will need to invest in a large bat to keep the girls away when he gets older, because he’s got the makings of a big ol’ flirt.

I spent too much money at the Clothing Show last night, but I also hauled home some truly fantabulous new clothes. Best score of the night is a wraparound dress made of gauzy sari fabric, which can be worn 10 different ways depending on how you wrap it (I decided to justify $80 price tag by telling myself that if it’s 10 dresses in 1, that’s actually a bargain at $8 a dress).

The Boy has purchased GTA4 for his XBox and managed to wait a whopping 20 minutes after walking in the door before starting a game. Ah, boys and their toys. I can’t really criticize after I just went and spent 3 hours shopping last night, though.

I have four hungry cats here waiting for their regular dinnertime can. Theirt dry food dish has been empty most of the day, so they are all going kind of nuts chasing each other around. Part of me says go feed them - but another part of me says watching them is so much fun that I think they can stay hungry a bit.

Eine kleine Nachtmusik, indeed… :stuck_out_tongue:
Couldn’t nap–thanks, effing cat, so glad you’re a part of my home.

Should I have popcorn for dinner and watch Juno or just watch Juno? These are tough decisions. Also rented Walk the Line on an inexplicable whim. :dubious:
