Looking back – how history will interpret the MMP

No, no, not rats – just mice nibbling open a tiny corner of each package and realizing they didn’t like the coffee, so fleeing hastily. I’m actually more concerned that the coffee is mucho stale than it’s contaminated – besides, the FDA has allowable standards for rodent contamination in food since it’s pretty unavoidable. Besides, it would have boiling water run through it before it got near me.

Anyway, we shall see. I’ll tell you if I get brave enough to do it.

(g)Nat just gets cuter and cuter! Dopers always have cute babies, but (g)Nat is extra-cute!

That headline is a classic!

{{Tagfree’s mom}}

And speaking of ulcers, my mom reports that the results of her blood tests came back and her blood, at least, is completely recovered from her 4-pint transfusion after her colon ulcer bleed. So here’s hoping the rest of her heals as well, too.

That photo was priceless, Bobbio!

Is it bedtime yet?

Where’s the fart thread that’s so funny?

Good news about your mom BioTigs! You still shouldn’t drink the coffee. Your own mother would tell you that and you know it.

We had an early supper. Grilled chest of chicken, butter beans, rice and rolls. 'Twas nummy!

It needs to rain more. We’ve been promised thunderboomers. I want my thunderboomers dangit!

rigs have popcorn with Juno and ice cream with Walk The Line. That way you get a balanced meal.

I came dangerously close to forgetting that I’m meeting Pie at seven. Fortunately, we’re meeting in my neighborhood, so I still have time to take a depollinating shower and make it there on time…

Back later with a report.

Behold the fart thread in all its glory. At least, I assume that this is the one everyone is talking about. If there’s a funnier fart thread going on, I need a link to it stat.

I’m taking a short Dope break from writing papers. Maybe I will let the Dope break turn into a nap break and stay up all night writing.

Oh, and the baby is cute, the beer pic is funny, and all roommates are evil.

Twelve rolls of TP left and you all go buy more? Am I the only person in the world who still buys TP in the four-pack?

Great news about your mom Mama Tigs! We got to the Y at noon and didn’t leave until 3:30. Oy vay that was a loooong workout.

It is raining here. In fact, it’s been raining since just before noon, so obviously there will be no yardwork accomplished today. That’s okay, I’m a bit tired.

I was stupid and didn’t eat just a little something before we left for the Y, so the workout seemed especially difficult.

I came home and ate a cheesestick, but I’m still hungry. I’ll have to find something healthy to eat.

Tomorrow we’re going out to breakfast at a little cafe we discovered a couple of weeks ago. It’s certainly not fancy, but the breakfast food was really good and I didn’t feel like I had to run to the bathroom five minutes after eating it. I will be a good girl this time, though, and settle for a smaller omelette.

Man, I could lie down and take a nap. I guess I’m more tired than I thought.

ETA: Peps, you obviously don’t have people who use wads of toilet paper when wiping their bums. I swear I’ve seen my husband practically wrap half a roll around his hand before wiping his bum.

Sigh My work here will never be done will it! Fortunately pprgrl you have redeemed yourself for the time being by linking to the fart thread.

Ok, off to read.

We go through at least 3-4 rolls a week in the front bathroom that Papa Tigs uses the most. When he’s out of town? I go through about 1/2 a roll a week, or less. You do the math. And this is after I’ve converted him to the use of toilet wipes to really get your bottom clean. He still goes through TP like it’s going out of style. I cannot explain it.

Thanks for the link to the fart thread. I love a good fart thread. Especially considering the effluvium that Rusty puts out each evening sleeping in my office. He doesn’t fart in the living room, only in my office. Papa Tigs has started calling it the Fart Room. I am not amused.

BioTigs be thankful Rusty confines it to one room. Is he the one that sleeps on the sofa? If so, be truly thankful.

I just finished reading the fart thread. Ol’ y’all know who stuck his head in and asked what was so funny. I told him I was readin’ a thread about farts. His reply?

“So, this message board full of smart people you’re always goin’ on about has a thread devoted to farts?”

Sez I:

“Yeah, only one today. It’s been kinda slow.”

Busy today, so I’m all behind!

Reading the board without my glasses currently… I got contacts! Wheee! Went shopping also, got some cute lime coloured flats, and a nifty little brown purse with hearts all over it. Then I hit wally-world and went on a garden binge… I bought all sorts of things I know I’ll need (trowel, pansies, bone stuff to mix with the dirt, lawn seed cuz I’m going to try and overseed my lawn and maybe it’ll look halfway decent instead of dead and weeds…)

Nope, can’t say that I’ve ever lived with someone who uses that much toilet paper. I live with four people right now, but I share a bathroom with only one of them. The two of us together only go through about a roll a week, and that’s including the big handful of TP I stuff in my pocket every morning to blow my nose on for the rest of the day. When I lived alone, a four-pack would last well over a month.

And here’s my shameful confession for the day: I’ve been dirt poor pretty much my whole life, so I tend to hoard a bit. When I lived alone, I used to store any unused napkins from fast food or takeout under the bathroom sink, just in case. Fortunately, I usually ended up using them when I ran out of paper towels, but I’ve been in that situation where you’re forced to decide whether to spend your last $1.50 on food, gas or toilet paper, so I like to be prepared. You can all go ahead and throw rocks at me now. :stuck_out_tongue:

I now possess toilet paper. Am I back in your good graces, swampy? bats eyes I use Scott as well. I don’t like the other brands–they leave fluff in your stuff.

I also got a can of compressed air (once I found one that still had the little straw–damn druggies). Good LORD my keyboard was dusty! There was fur in there from a cat that’s been dead three years! Types a bit better, although the right shift key still sticks. It’s about six years old, though, so I can’t complain too much.

Spaz you are now back in my good graces. For a while there I thought I was gonna have to write to Dear Abby about the slovenly tp habits of people I know on teh internets.

I wish the neighbors would bring their cocker spaniel back inside. He’s apparently out for his nightly poop and bark fest. The weather’s kinda nice so I have the windows to da cave opened. It just got quiet. I guess Gauge (the dawg’s name) is back inside.

I wonder how MOOOOOOM has coped with all the doin’s.

Compressed air + cat + dog = endless fun

And people say you can’t have fun at home on Saturday night!

Juno is fantastic! Dude!

on the phone with my mom–I doubt I can do justice to the complexity of feelings right now. My mom does not do chitchat; she pontificates. She’s well away at present and will continue for some time…

I suggest alcohol. She’ll still pontificate but you won’t care as much.

We entered into the mother in law and sister in law tales now… Her (dead) MIL and her (dead) SIL. <sigh>
I made brownies and cleaned the kitchen while listening to her.

Ah, yes, the fine art of multi-tasking! I think your mother and mine are related, rigs. Mine has mellowed somewhat, and I’ve probably mellowed as well, but lordy can she talk! We can go whole conversations without her remembering to ask anything about me. (I’ve learned to either jump in and volunteer information or not, depending on my mood.)

I met Pie! I met Pie! We only got to chat for about an hour (she had to go rescue TVMan), but it was so nice to meet her IRL. Yes there is a picture. If you’re lucky I’ll post it tomorrow.

What else did I miss? Hope your Mom is better quickly, NoLa. And glad yours is doing better now, BioTigs.

Coffee and mice? Ewwwwww. But I guess if it’s small it would probably be OK.

snowbunny has a sword?

Eine kleine Nachtmusik. Heh. (Excellent headline, BTW, snowbunny.)

So…how long did you wait to feed the cats, MBG.

Hope you’re feeling better soon, Dotty. You should probably have them check your thyroid…

On the important subject of TP: I buy Target brand. I just bought a 12-pack a couple of weeks ago.

I bought a bunch of plants at the plant sale. Spent $75, but it probably would have cost $100 elsewhere. They specialize in perennials, but they’ve started to sell a few plants for containers. I found several that I was planning to buy: some white lantana, a couple of coleus (Religious Radish and Stained Glassworks Copper - I think - you can see Religious Radish about 1/2-way down this page ; I also have Religious Rutabaga which is much prettier than the one they show on this web site), a butterfly bush, Mexican bush sage and other stuff I can’t remember.

Came home and worked in the garden for about an hour, made a lovely omelet with asparagus from the garden, and then realized that I’d gotten so lost in plants that I was almost late for meeting Cutie Pie.

I’m gonna finish playing with a few pictures and then it’s off to beddy bye…

Ok, #1 son is getting a D- in gym. :dubious:  :dubious:
You can’t do that without trying.

I was wondering if anybody would notice that. It’s actually a Chinese tourist sword – I got it from a freecycler in New Orleans, which turned out to be a fortuitous meeting as we took turns exchanging free stuff for some months and then after Katrina he was kind enough to run by our old neighborhood and report back to me on how things were, since he was one of the earliest folks to return to the area. But the sword, while quite decorative, does not, alas, have a sharp edge. Although you could probably thwack someone good with it anyway.

I’ve been sitting here all evening vegging. It’s lovely. I’ve got a mountain of new work to do, but I decided that today I just wasn’t gonna do any. It’s been lovely.

I now have to figure out what kind of storage I want to put back in my sewing area for my yarn. I’m thinking some plastic units with drawers. I’d really love to have open wooden cube shelves like a real yarn store, just for fun, but I’m not going to mess with that in a rental house. Hence plastic units. But first I seriously need to clean up that room; it’s been a dumping ground for many months now. Every time I clean it, Papa Tigs cleans up somewhere else and puts everything he doesn’t know what else to do with back there. Grrr. But I’ve been shamefully neglecting my sewing machine and my lovely serger since my knee surgery, which has been a year now, so it’s time to get back to it. The charity I do a lot of work for needs my efforts!
