That’s what pisses me off, now that you mention it. We never did get a Boone flashback. That was all about what a shallow bitch his sister is really. We know almost nothing about Boone, and he didn’t have any connections to anyone else on the island, except sitting at the police station when Sawyer was hauled in. I wonder if Boone’s going to be traipsing around the island as a ghost now, helping people, guiding people, pestering people (looking at you John Locke, you bastard).
It’s almost like Locke was running out of whatever energy was keeping his legs working, and he had to give the island a sacrifice. Is someone going to have to die every time Locke’s legs start giving out?
I really enjoyed this episode, which makes me mad because I had every intention of boycotting the show for making us wait so long between eps. Damn DVR.
I was surprised that Jack got married, too. He was drinking quite a bit, too, which was ironic given that Jack turned his father in for being intoxicated while performing surgery. My wild-ass theory is that Jack’s new found sobriety is tied to leaving his wife.
Not sure I buy using an anemone needle as a means to give blood. Wouldn’t you still need a pump? Can you give blood through osmosis? Besides, if Boone really did lose that much blood, surely his veins would have collapsed, no?
I assume that if nothing else, Boone will be back in Shannon’s next flashback. Which probably won’t be until next season.
The spoiler box contains information from TV Tome about who the background stories will be about for the next few episodes.
The next episode is about Sayid, then Kate, then the 3 part final doesn’t have anyone listed. Either they don’t have background stories, or TV Tome just doesn’t know who they’re about yet.
I was talking to Alias this morning, and she pointed out something I hadn’t realized. Jack doesn’t know what happened to Boone. All he knows is that Locke lied about it. He could very well think that Locke attacked Boone, and that’s why Boone was injured. Jack might not be speaking metaphorically; he might really think Locke is a murderer.
This is the first reference to the number 44 I’ve seen in this thread. Did anybody notice that number was on the back of Jack’s fiance’s pajamas (end of the scene at the piano)?
Can anybody confirm the island’s head count and is this one of Hurley’s numbers?
i don’t know about you, but if i was jack’s wife (or non wife however it turned out) i would have smacked him if he ended up marrying me, but started his vows all like he was going to back out.
Somehow I think Jack never got married (but see #2).
What was Jack’s pre-island “not letting go” issue? Was it not letting go of his patient/fiancee? But if he didn’t let go, did he go through with the wedding? Clearly this requires more thought and rampant speculation…
I think the amputation thing was the door to a cargo container. I don’t know if anyone caught that (or if it even matters).
There will have to be at least one more Jack backstory, but probably not till next season.
If I never again get to see a human birth portrayed on TV, that will be fine with me. Yeah, yeah, “it’s a beautiful moment”, “a miracle”, blah, blah, blah. I saw hundreds of animal births back on the farm, and my quota is filled. That goes double for “delivering the placenta” and umbilical cord issues.
I’m catching up, because I never seem to so I decided I’d just watch the show and catch up where I could (so I saw last night’s ep and am on… ep 3 otherwise. Yeah bad for watching it this way but I’d never see it otherwise, I’d always be behind.)
Ahem. Uh… ep 3, no ring on Jack’s finger. I didn’t notice one in the last two either. And just doing an informal headcount from gatherings on the beach, I don’t come up with more than 30 people though they might not have all been on the beach in that scene.
It looked like he said yes and went through with it, but I have a feeling that marriage is/was doomed. He saves people and can’t let go, and she’s got that doctor hero worship thing going on. It looked like neither one of them was going into it with clear heads, and Jack’s father kinda knew it.
As far as I can tell, there are indeed 44 people from Flight 815 (one was in utero, of course, but never mind that now) Jack originally told the pilot that 48 survived. Then the marshal died, Joanna died, it was discovered Ethan wasn’t on the plane, Steve/Scott died, and finally Boone, with the birth of the baby bringing it back up to 44.
The only way that count is off is if Ethan was not counted among the original 48, or people were dying offscreen.
I don’t recall seeing a wedding ring on Jack at all–and he’s used his hands a lot. As a single woman nearing 30, I can tell you that I tend to notice whether or not a man is wearing a wedding ring without even realizing I’m doing so.
I like the idea of Ghost Boone staying on the island, but a coworker told me yesterday that she read an interview with Ian Somerhalder where he said he’d been about to start looking for a house in Hawaii when he was told he’d be dying. (No cite, of course, so take it or leave it.) That’s gotta be a bummer, right? “I’m going to be living and working in Hawaii!!” “Uhh … we need to talk about your character …”
For what it’s worth, I’m married (back off ladies ) and I don’t wear a ring. It just no longer fits, so it needs to be resized. Or I need to be resized. Yeah, it’ll probably be the ring.
The real question is why Jack didn’t tell Kate that he’s married. Or anybody else for that matter. Assuming he’s married. Which he may not be.
Perhaps he’s tempted to cheat on his wife but can’t decide and he’s keeping his options open.
You know … if my husband were given up for dead yet still alive on a deserted island with no hope of rescue … I think I’d forgive him a booty call with a fellow survivor. Those are some stressful circumstances.
