Lost 1.20: "Do No Harm"

What I noticed was that step backward that Shannon did just as Jack started telling her. That was very good at revealing her desire to push back the information she was being given. Exactly the right reaction.

This is from the last ep, really, but an ad on this morning for *Lost *CLEARLY stated that the answer to Boone’s "We’re the survivers of flight 815 was:

WE’RE the survivers of flight 815!"

Just so’s we know.

This week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly pretty much confirms that, too.

This week’s EW also suggested that :
(minor spoilers, that basically tell us that a mystery will be resolved, but not necessarily how it will be resolved)

It was probably NOT the Crazy French Lady that conked Sayid and broke his tracking device. Definitely not Ethan. It said that Sayid will find out who did it and confront that person. My guess is Locke, of course.

Yes, I saw that, too. There was a lot of confusion over exactly what was said, and I think they re-did it to make sure we all knew exactly what was being said on the other end of the transmission.

I was firmly on the side of, “There were no survivors of Flight 815” and the closed-captioning confirmed it when I rewatched my tape. The reply Boone got was, “There were no survivors…”
I’ve seen that preview twice, and the reply to Boone very definitely says, “WE’RE the survivors…”
Does it mean there are more survivors on the other side of the island? Or maybe on a nearby island? Was Boone’s voice just echoing back to him? Can they go back to the plane and try to salvage the radio? Couldn’t they could use parts to fix the other radio, right?

I watched this episode over the weekend so forgive me if this has been asked or answered already: How did the cargo hatch get to the caves? Isn’t it a mile or more from the beach to the caves? Or was the hatch part of the plane debris that was farther in the jungle? From what I saw it seemed to magically appear there, and it left me confused. I had never seen it near the caves before.

That’s an excellent question. We’ve seen pieces of the plane on many parts of the island (recall the two coach-class seats Kate and Sawyer found in the bottom of that waterfall pool, for example), but none that big before, except the fuselage section our survivors climbed out of, and that was burned.

we went back and listened to that a couple times, and we were torn between “there are no survivors of flight 815” or “we’re the survivors of flight 815” which is an awesome plot twist, maybe they are all chillin in the hatch? who knows. at this point, maybe any plane that has any of those numbers associated with it crashes there.

An even more pressing question is if the other voices on the radio ARE the other surviviors of 815, where did they get a radio? To my thinking, they must be at the Black Rock!!

Just so everyone knows, what I wrote in my post (#165) is not an actual spoiler, but just some speculation based on previews, in response to what WhyNot wrote in a spoiler box.

come on you know we are all supposed to believe that they carried it up from the beach. well not the main characters, the extra beach people. i love it when they show the other castaways if you will. because it’s so obvious they are out of the loop. it’s just like anything in life. if you have a group of people, no matter how big or how small, there will always be a cooler, more informed, inner circle.

and on jack’s drinking, i’m with draelin. i remember him on the flight, then at the wedding. now if you think about the wedding. he was all conflicted about getting married. he was sitting with his legs (pants not even rolled up) in the pool, downing alchohol. yeah, i’m thinking he’s an alchy. not to mention when he took the bag out to the beach that kate had been bringing back for boone, he was all going to drink then too! heredity people. lol

From what I saw in the episode where they found the caves, a lot of the cargo section spilled out there, apparently including the cargo door section.

Undamaged, and with a sharpened edge.
Rose is going to have to come back now. She accurately predicted that the tail section survived. *

*it has to be the tail section. We saw the nose/cockpit in the first ep, the group we are with now is from the middle/wingroot area (hence the engines on the beach, remember). But, if it is indeed the tail section, where did they get a radio? Also, it seems they were monitoring the radio, since they answered Boone so quickly.
We need TCM to reappear, also.

I’ll take improper use of footnotes for $200.

:smack:

When will I ever get this MB stuff down?

Well, you are relatively new and inexperienced.

An aha moment! I told hubby that that’s what I heard on the preview we saw last night!!! It does seem to be very clear what they were saying now, as opposed to in the original show.

I got the Entertainment Weekly “Lost Boys” issue (issue number: 815) yesterday, and there’s some good stuff there, spoilers aside.

  • Josh Holloway (“Sawyer”) is a fellow Georgian (although not a native), and he complains about the haircut; it’s always falling down in front of his face. I sympathize; when I had hair like that I was always getting headaches from the annoyance.

Also, “Sawyer” was originally going to be a fast-talking New Yorker. I think he’s much more interesting as a drawling Southerner (like me!).

  • Before Dominic Monaghan was cast, they’d intended Charlie to be 45 years old. That makes more sense for a faded has-been, but of course it’s not unheard of for a rock star to burn out and lose his way by his late 20s.

  • Daniel Dae Kim got his first audition simply because he was “a Korean who could speak Korean.”

  • Ian Somerhalder learned Boone was going to be killed off when he was on vacation in the California wine country. He had “several glasses of pinot” in him, and it helped ease the blow.

Interesting. According to his IDMB listing, he “knew very little Korean before he did “Lost”. He has said that his co-star on that show Yoon-jin Kim, who is fluent in both English and Korean, has been invaluable in coaching him on his Korean, which has apparently improved.” I guess he faked it well enough at the audition for them to give him a shot!

(I have to admit, I’ve been crushin’ on him since Addicted To Love. Only got worse when he was on Angel.)

Exactly. I don’t know if it was intentionally unclear the first time or just a production mistake, but now it’s very clear what is said in response to Boone.
The thing is, Boone never told anyone what he heard before he died - but what about the guy he talked to on the radio? Will he or anyone in his group come looking for that guy on the radio who claimed to be a survivor of Flight 815?
Hmm, things could get interesting…

Did he come off as bitter or disinterested to anyone? He did say that the only reason his character got written in was because they liked the woman playing Sun so much.
