Will we find out she’s Daniel Faraday’s mother?

Sorry I checked and it’s not confirmed yet but she was in a picture in his flashback episode.

I don’t recall that but I remember her clearly from Desmond’s flashback.
Heh–my first thought was “My mom always said that would happen if you put the knives in pointy side up”
I’m a newbie to LOST. Just discovered it midway through last season, went back, watched everything in time to watch the season finale live, so I’m all caught up…but I got some questions–anyone mind if I ask 'em here? (Some of this is from watching so many in a short period of time–I was almost rushing through them. I should go back and watch them at a reasonable pace)
To me, Jack is just a whiny dick. Utterly unlikable, no redeeming qualities except medical competence (compromised by iffy medical ethics). Is that generally an accepted viewpoint? Or is mine being colored by seeing all of the show in one big like 3-week marathon sitting?
Ok–I get that that the Island broke Jack and Kate up 'cause otherwise Turnip-head would have been raised by a relative and he can’t be. Why? Have we ever been given a hint as to why Turnip-head has to be raised by non-blood relatives? Is he a demon-baby or what?
What are Walt’s super powers–I know he can project his image, give his mother’s boyfriends the creeps and make birds fly into windows. Can he do other stuff?
Isn’t the knife that L’il Locke chose when being tested by Richard the same knife he was using this episode?
Do we know what kind of science expedition the Crazy French Chick was on when they crashed?
Is this the first time we’ve ever seen the Dharma Initiative live? As opposed to grainy '70s films (and that Wax/Candle/Wick guy is a great actor–veeeeery creepy.)
Thanks in advance!
I think you’ll find any number of views on Jack, but most are probably negative. I tend to be more charitable than most. I just think he’s dull.
We don’t know yet what the deal is with Aaron, but I think he’s supposed to be raised by Claire. And I don’t think the island broke Kate and Jack up. That was just … well, see question 1. In any event, I think the island wants them all back and Claire needs to be back with Aaron. Jack and Kate’s problems are unrelated.
Unknown.
I thought it was the compass that Richard was using in the test, but I didn’t get a good look at the knife.
Not yet.
No, we’ve been back to the Dharma Initiative before. Remember when Ben killed his dad?
Quick one here - do we have any idea who the British (going by accent) guys were that jumped Juliet and Sawyer in tonight’s episode?
-Joe
Ahh-you’re right–the creepy psychic guy DID say Turnip-head had to be raised by her only. I misremembered.
As an aside, my favorite Lost ‘mystery’ is The Numbers–I really hope we get more info on them this season.
Yeah, it seems like they haven’t really mentioned the numbers substantially since season 2.
But they do lay in just enough passing references every now and then to make me hope they haven’t just dropped the matter.

They mentioned it last season towards the end: Hurley’s dad’s car had a mileage of 481516/2342 which caused Hurley to run screaming down the street. And the alarm clock in this episode went off at 8:15.
But they really haven’t dealt with what the numbers DO. And no-one’s explored the fact that Hurley is apparently magical when he says them (remember the great episode where he hugs the Crazy French Chick*? He’s just walking determinedly through death traps, over rickety bridges–apparently he’s invulnerable when he’s saying them–they may be bad luck for everyone around him, but not for him personally). I wish they’d deal with that.
*Who I really, REALLY hope isn’t dead. I loved her as DeLenn on B5 and she’s just such a great actress.
I missed about half of the first forty-five minutes – only caught snippets here and there. I need to go back and watch it all again tonight. Yay for DVRs!
I’m not completely sure, but I thought they were wearing Dharma outfits.
That was my first thought…but then it occurred to me that I was only making that assumption because their shirts (or jumpsuits) had names sewn on them. Which, of course, the military does, too.

I would be thrilled if the Lost Islanders who are unstuck in time would do a sly reference to Slaugherhouse Five.
Maybe Sawyer or Faraday at some point saying “so it goes”.
Me too! Someone asked me what happen last night, and the best I could come up with is to say “All the Losties have become unstuck in time.” And then I had to explain what that meant.
Did you use the phrase “timey-wimey wibbley-wobbley”?
Yes, this is what I said…
-FrL-
They didn’t look like Dharma outfits to me. The color didn’t look right, and I don’t think the nametags were the right shape or in quite the right place.

I love the conflict and the unanswered questions.
For instance, should Hurley listen to Ben and go back to the Island or was Sayid correct in saying to do the opposite of what Ben says?
Who is the bigger threat, Ben or Widmore?
How did Locke get off the Island?
Is Richard Alpert really ageless? Is he a good guy? Who does his make-up?
I saw an interview w/ the creators and they talked about this. They said that after Nestor Carbonell did his first day of shooting for the series, they were watching the dailies w/ him and said “Great stuff… but you gotta lose the eyeliner.” Turns out he wasn’t wearing any.
The same guy was the mayor in The Dark Knight and also looked like he had eyeliner on in that. I think he’s just naturally glam.
He also played Batmanuel on the live action The Tick show and it looked like he was wearing eye-liner too but now I’m thinking maybe he wasn’t.
That was a really good start to the new season. I hope they keep up the pace and the answering of questions.
I loved the part where Daniel interacts with past-Desmond and plants the new memory into present-Desmond and that sets new things into motion.
In the video podcast released yesterday(?) they said that they would, FWIW.
