I’m pretty sure that I read somewhere that it has already been renewed for a second season.
Hey! I did say it was a WA g.
Come on, let’s see some more speculation and really wild thoughts!
No. It’s been picked up for a full season.
13 episodes were originally green-lighted. After the success of the first couple of episodes, ABC green-lighted 9 more episodes, to complete the entire season.
Nothing has been announced regarding Season 2.
Not quite. It’s been guaranteed a full season, but it hasn’t been picked up for a second. However, I’m positive it’ll get the green light for at least part of another season.
I don’t know if this has been covered in a previous thread, but with Sun’s story I’m picking up that the main characters did not want to be on the plane, or were forced onto the plane. None of the survivors we’ve been introduced to in detail were on the plane because they were taking a business trip or on vacation or anything mundane.
Jack: returning with dead father.
Kate: forced to go back in custody of US Marshal.
Locke: forced to go home after being denied Walkabout trip.
Sun: Was planning on ditching her husband, had last minute (literally) change of heart.
Michael/Walt: picking up Walt after his mom died (though we haven’t seen their story)
Charlie’s story is coming up, as is Sayid’s. Both of them seem pretty fertile ground for shadows in their past. Boone, Shannon, Rose and Hurley seem like they could have been on the plane for the purpose of pleasure… But so far everybody that we’ve seen with a past didn’t want to be on that plane.
Comments? Or am I just too slow in picking this up?
EZ
As soon as I saw the stones, I thought of the Backgammon board and good vs. evil.
I was hoping they would examine the bodies a bit more to see if there was any evidence of age.
Also, did anyone else find it odd that Jack didn’t “freak-out” and call everybody over once he and Kate found the bodies? They can trust Locke and Charlie.
Can we assume Locke went through some kind of drug withdrawl experience because of his injury?
I like the idea that everyone on the plane so far were forced to be on it. Do you think that they will ever get together and tell their story to each other and come to the same conclusion?
Best new show this season!

This was from one of the earlier threads. Sorry, I forgot to get the name of the person who wrote it and I’m not searching again. . .
So if that translation is correct, it doesn’t sound like she’s talking about some small black rock.
I agree there’s something to the stones, though. I don’t get Jack’s motivation for pocketing them, instead of going, “Hey, whadda y’all think these things are for?”
Everyone wants to get off the island and not get eaten by giant polar bears…and…oops.
When they showed Sun and Jin at the airport, were they right behind Jack arguing with the ticket agent about getting his father’s casket on the plane? Or did I imagine that?
Not at all. I think we can assume that he endured a lot of pain when he became paralyzed, because what he said to Charlie was something like, “Believe me, I know what it’s like to be in great pain,” not “I know what heroin withdrawal feels like.” It makes me think he was in some sort of traumatic accident that caused his paralysis.
(considering I missed the episode, I sure am posting a lot)
So I went to see The Grudge this weekend. One of the characters flew from America to Japan…anyone want to guess what airline they were on?
You did not imagine it.
Boone and Shannon, the brother and sister, look like they can’t stand each other.
More random points:
I looked at all the scenes on the plane and haven’t yet spotted Hurley. Could it be that he was already on the island? ('Course, he’s REALLY BIG for someone to have been marooned on the island for any period of time, and how is it that his CD player still works?)
Max Carnage: Last Saturday, 10/23, they replayed episodes 4 and 5. They might do the same this Saturday or next.
I probably should have posted this last week, but a wrinkle to Jack’s backstory is that when he was in Australia, he was addressed as “Mr [whatever his last name is]”, not “Doctor”. Could he have made a horrible mistake and lost his medical license, which is why things are so awkward with his family?
ABC has said that some episodes are 61 minutes long. This could screw up your DVRs, people. ABC also admitted they’re bastards for doing this.
Are these people seriously morons? Some of them want to stay on the beach, in case a plane or ship comes by? HELLO, THERE’S A BIG FRICKING PIECE OF JUMBO JET ON THE BEACH. What you do is leave some sort of evidence next to the jet, I’m thinking a big ol’ “S O S” sign made out of rocks, so that if anyone spots the jet, they’ll see proof that there were survivors.
ABC are bastards for screwing with my DVR. I got fooled last week, but not this week. Of course, now my wife complains about missing the first minute of “The West Wing”, but I tell her that that show now sucks and she feels better about it.

Damn Damn double double post post. .
Sorry, slip of the keyboard. All the TWOPpers refer to him as Mercutio because that was the actor’s role in the Leonardo diCaprio Romeo and Juliet a few years back.
Heh.
Gosh, I hope so; either that, or somebody’s gay. Preferably Jack. And Sawyer.
I saw Jin behind Jack at the ticket counter last week, but I totally missed Jack in front of Jin at the ticket counter this week. I was even looking for him. Weird.
Off-topic question: What do you all WANT the Secret of the Island to be? I’m still holding out hope of an evil scientist behind it all, preferably an alien. But I’m afraid it’s going to turn out to be boring old magic, just the Island of Wish Fulfillment, with no particular explanation of how or why that came to be.
Want it to be?? Well I’m all “Marshall Will and Holly” wanting this to be **Lost ** as in Land Of The. Why? Dude. I got 2 words for ya. Slee.Stacks.
DeHusband is convinced that they aren’t on Earth anymore. Kinda like the alien abduction from hell.
Well, this goes back to one of the original threads, but I didn’t want it to be anything.
I think it was Cervaise wrote up a long post about how much drama there is to be sucked from just people trying to hold onto civilization on an island and that’s where I was hoping the show went.
But, now that that seems to be out the window. . .I’d be happier with some “mad experiment” than “magical island”. Just the pragmatist in me.
I had a thought: Sun asked Michael for help. It’s possible she just meant to give her father’s watch back to Jin, and free him from the handcuffs, but she may also have asked him for something else. Of course, now with Jin free, she’s going to have trouble getting away long enough to have a conversation with Michael again.
Also, did Michael cut through the chain of the handcuffs with the axe? It seems like those might have come in handy if he hadn’t broken them, just for show (unless Kate lost the keys).
“Who’s Number One?”
