I’m pretty sure I caught a glimpse of Jack’s elbow, and I definitely heard him saying “in 16 hours I have to be in LA…”
Wow. Good point.
Wait a second. Wasn’t the designer talking to Sun in English right in front of her husband?
Is anyone following along with the game? It looks they update it with each episode.
Sayid and Locke are my favorite characters.
They went into the bedroom and were speaking Korean (with subtitles for us).
No sight of the older African American Woman who said her husband wasn’t dead. Did something happen to her that I missed???
I was just looking at the ABC Lost homepage and I noticed that the Oceanic napkin on the page now has a crude map drawn on it. I don’t recall it being there 2 weeks ago when I last visited. Anyone else notice this?
ava, how do I navigate the game?
I imagine the stones are tied in with what Locke told the boy in the second episode, when he was explaining the philosophy behind backgammon.
Where’s Vincent? Did they eat him?
Huh. Apparently my brain wants me to believe that the whole “you’re a lucky wife” thing was said in English.
Are you sure?
I watched it again, and you do briefly see Jack’s face - at least half of it. They zoom past his shoulder fairly fast, and I could hear his tirade after the camera left him. Sun and Jin are standing farther behind him, and the camera focuses on them in the next shots. I also went back and looked at the airport scene in *White Rabbit, * and as Jack is pleading and getting angry at the ticket counter the camera zooms in on Jin looking annoyed for a long shot.
I also wondered where the axe came from, do planes really carry them as standard equipment? Have they been living off that one boar all week? And what happened to the jungle monster? It was one of the main focuses the first few eps, then poof, no mention of it and no one seems worried about it anymore.
I had originally thought Jin attacked Michael because he had talked to Sun. I also had a feeling she could speak English, I guess a few times she looked as though she wanted to say something.
Yes, it was all in subtitles. She didn’t speak English at all till she approached Michael in the jungle as he was chopping wood. That made it all the more shocking, but I had suspected she spoke it, or at least understood it a little ever since he asked her to watch Walt when he went on the hike. Something about the way she looked at him, like she was dying to let him know that, yes, she’d watch him and Walt would be okay with her, but she couldn’t let on that she understood what he was saying.
ABC scheduled the show to run till 9:01… if your DVR doesn’t have good conflict management and you had something set to record at 9, it might’ve cancelled the 8pm taping because it’d run one minute into the 9pm show.
Of course, if you owned a TiVo instead of some cheap rip off, you would’ve got the message from the administrator that ABC was doing this and to double check your scheduling.
Light vs dark, actually. There was a scene from the second (?) episode where the camera zoomed in on Locke, as he talked to the boy, and held up pieces that looked (exactly?) like those found in the pocket and said “Light… vs dark”.
I assume these are related. Locke asked the boy if he wanted to know a secret soon after that scene (IIRC). The stones play into some sort of good vs evil symbology.
The more we discuss these black and white stones and the backgammon counters, the more credence I lend to the theory that the bodies are actually Jack and Kate. I want the show to just be about the castaways establishing themselves on the island in the wake of the crash, but if it has to go paranormal, I want them to follow that road.
On a lighter note, overheard on Livejournal re: Charlie: “I like my drug-addled Hobbit musicians like I like my coffee … covered in bees!”
Locke’s “secret”, as has been revealed, was that a miracle occurred, and that miracle - also revealed - was his being able to walk again. I don’t think that is relevent to the whole “black & white”, “good vs. evil” thing.
It was a lucky thing that Charlie was not allergic to bees like he thought. It’s kind of funny that before this episode I had been wondering what would happen if someone had an allergic reaction without any meds to treat it.
A quick google search shows that there are species of ground-nesting bees (digger bees, mining bees) and wasps so that wasn’t totally off the wall.
Re: Light and dark. I do not believe this is necessarily the same as good and evil. We all have are light and dark sides but the dark nature is not necessarily evil. Sometimes good people just do bad things. Eh … I’m not drunk enough to be discussing this.
WTF? I can’t make heads or tails of that site. Some instructions or explanation would be nice…
Ah, yes. Fair enough. I still think there’s something to the colored stones relating to dark vs light stuff.
What, you’ve never seen My Girl?
Yeah, I noticed something weird there too. My brain thought, hey, cool, “lucky wife” in Korean sounds exactly like it does in English! But it was only those two words. Spooky.
